A couple guys at work ruck. I believe it's goruck that makes the packs they have, and there are custom fit metal plates in 5 or 10 lb increments that they put in

If running is the goal, BMI doesn't matter. Only Mass. The clock doesn't care how tall you are, only how much weight you are pushing. Estimates range from 10 to 30 seconds per mile for every extra 10 lbs you are carrying regardless of your height. I'm 6' tall and fastest at 138 lbs! St Patrick's day weekend this year, I…

If you live on the US east coast, you might be able to find a single hull for a reasonable price. Here in MA, I see people out rowing on all kinds of water! You could also look at kayaking. It is easy to slack off on one though!

A number of years ago I was right hooked. I was going an easy 15 or so. My shoulder caved in their quarter panel, breaking it. My head bounced off their hood. Cracked my helmet, but no damage beyond that, and destroying my front wheel! It's not always enough to just have a helmet. Wear it right. Inspect it. Replace it as…

Nope. Jogging isn't anything. Physical we run or we walk. There is no other way biologically. We aren't horses that change the way they physically move. We either have 2 feet on the ground (standing), move with always one foot on the ground (walking) or move with occasionally zero feet on the ground (run). "Jog" was an…

When they feel bad. Usually thats after 250 miles

Perfectly fine, but overpriced. Polar OH1 (I think that's the name) and Scosche Rhythm+ do more for a lower price and are perfectly accurate

A few years ago I'd run a couple miles in the morning, then either gym or run at lunch, then a couple times a week run at night. IMHO you could do it anytime post c25k vintage, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T INCREASE MORE THAN 10% total training volume a week. A split up my runs as I didn't get home from work until it was too late…

That's actually kinda rare. Since the invention of the watch, runners have gone by pace not speed. Almost all devices are focused on that. Garmin will show speed as a watch face at least on the x3x generation (can't check older watches, that's what is on my wrist). They'll also do speed alarms (and pace, hr, cadence, etc)…

Fit #1. Mass #2. I'm 6'-0" and my racing weight is 150. I'm a faster runner at 140, but better on the bike at 150 (no huge climbs in tris/dus). But if you aren't going for a podium, does it matter? 10-20-40 lbs extra will slow you down quite a bit, but if your goal is not winning, you do what you need to do to reach that…

I had a Forerunner 405 that died within a year, but they were known for issues. I replaced it with a FR220. That worked great until I lost it 2 years ago. I've been wearing a FR230 every day since then. My wife has had a Vivoactive 1 she wears every day. The VA3 came out last August.

I get between 200-300 miles out of any pair. At about 200 I start to feel it and by 300 they are dead. I feel it the next morning. I'm much more sore in my calves and really feel it on stairs!

They aren't. In every measurable way, a good indoor bike or trainer is superior. Wattbike, Stages bike, Wahoo Kickr, Elite trainers, Kurt Kenetic, etc are all superior. But they are different. As you allude to, they do not give a good bike workout. If they did, you'd see them at the TdF. You don't. You see trainers.

Garmin a million times. And that's before stating that I'm Android only. The first ones didn't even have GPS. I need much more advanced features that Apple doesn't offer and Garmin offers in cheaper watches.

And if you are pushing 300 W for an hour, look into racing
-
And if the power meter on the bike is accurate. On gym equipment, I don't know what's involved with maintaining and zeroing the PM, or if it even is a direct force. Tl:Dr what the bike says it's probably right, but might not be in rare occasions

I typically check out segments on Strava. That gives a decent idea where locals run, sometimes really hard runs though! Or if you are vacationing in Boston every street has a segment...

6000 isn't an abnormally huge amount. That'd be 50 miles a week run for me (double what I do do). OP, like Roxie says, you are eating about 18,000 KCal per week right? 1700 x 7 + 6000. And you've only been going for 21 days. Your going to bload and retain water to repair the damage you are doing to your muscles.

Worst update this year. 4 months ago it was good, but not anymore :(

I've been running with a Rhythm+ for 18 months or so. I place it around the largest part of my forearm. I only have issues if I run with an almost dead battery, then it dies during

And as the west has gotten fatter, people's idea of healthy has gotten fatter too. There are a whole lot of studies that show that. Look at a photo from the 50s-70s and see how skinny people used to be.

Adding 10% in total volume per week is a safe rule of thumb.

If running is out all together, there goes a couple of my options. Bike racing. Lots of options: crits, time trials, and track races. Tour type races are much harder to find for amateurs, all long distance events are either casual (centuries) or part of an Iron distance bike race (112 mile time trial) Depending on where…

Yaktraks. Or move somewhere they take care of the sidewalks better ;) . Year round in New England and I never have issues, but sometimes I do have to climb 40" tall snowbanks

If I tried to watch something, I'd trip. On the trainer, I would have Hulu or Netflix going. Nothing subtitled, I can't read while trying to hit specific wattages. On the streets, Ive got an array of mp3s on a SanDisk clip - dnb, metal, classic rock - for running. Biking, I'll stash my phone in a jersey pocket and usually…

There's no bad temperature or weather, just bad clothes. I commuted for years by bike. Northern California, so the weather was usually good, but below freezing every morning in the winter (but 60F for the ride home). I don't now cause I live in a totally different area and it's a 35 mile one way trip (45-120 min by car,…

"Short" ;) . It's still a 60-120 minute race

Two stories I've watched a guy pushing twins come in second on a 10k, running a 36-38:00. I've got a friend who was training at 7 minute miles at 8 months pregnant...

For circuit training, worthless.
