I am a sucker for an Irish or Scottish accent - once let a telesales chappie with an Irish accent talk for almost 2 hours just to hear him talk!! The reduction in price of what he was selling was pretty good too, just a shame I didn't need it! No problem with other accents, UK or foreign  Though the…

I'm not happy doing what I'm doing - a data analyst for the NHS. So I'm doing something about it, instead of generating the stats on how services within the NHS are doing, I'm working on becoming someone who actually works with patients doing something about their health

The biggest lesson I've learnt is not to cut out any food groups, to try and eat everything in moderation. And if there is a hiccup and I go OTT to draw a line under it and start afresh without recriminations. After all the eating right and keeping fit is a way of life and not just a temporary fix.

Have a look at http://www.walkjogrun.net Edit: I misread your original post :ohwell: The link I posted will show routes that other's have run rather than charity runs. A runner friend of mine signs up for charity runs and makes a donation to the cause rather than running for the specific charity involved.

I would rather have everything in moderation, than strictly limit what I'm eating. Food should be something that is enjoyed and not just about the nutritional content or value that it brings to our everyday diet. And yes every so often I'll have that cream cake/chocolate muffin just because I want to and because I'll enjoy…

I would say it depends on where you're having your tattoo as to whether you're able to continue working out. I had a half sleeve done last year (my first) and it didn't stop me from training.

I don't do 5:2, but here's a link to the MFP group on IF (Intermittent Fasting) which is pretty much the same thing. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/49-intermittent-fasting

I found it worth investing in a HRM - the calories burnt for Tae Kwon Do on the database are at least a third more than I actually burnt. Saying that, the calories burnt for walking, are pretty much spot on for me.
-
There are a lot of exercises that aren't in the database. You have 2 options: use a HRM and create your own Exercise (Exercise -> My Exercises) when you're doing your workouts. Or if you don't use a HRM, use an exercise in the database that's close to what you do and approximate the calories burned using that.

Emphasis on "short term fix" - you know what it is and what it does, so what is there to consider?!! It is not a long term healthy solution to losing weight.

I'm a coffee gal mostly, but you can't beat a good cuppa!! PG Tips all the way!! Choccy Digestives or Hob Nobs for dunking!!

There are several ways to calculate body fat % some online calculators you can use: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ http://scoobysworkshop.com/body-fat-calculator/ And an interesting article on various other methods: http://www.builtlean.com/2010/07/13/5-ways-to-measure-body-fat-percentage/

Can't remember which was first, but I remember playing Chuckie Egg on the BBC Micro and Donkey Kong, as well as Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers on Nintendo Handheld - we're talking mid '80's! Aaah the memories....

I'd go with Rosemary Conley classes, simply because the classes incorporate exercise and it does teach you to eat healthily without any point counting. Nutrition information is available on the majority of food now, why convert it to points? I have no clue about slimming world. And if you're here, do you really need to…

I don't wear anything on my wrists - the HRM I use has a chest band and I can stick the wrist watch down my cleavage  an advantage to being an woman  I know none of the guys I train with use a HRM, but then they're not trying to lose weight or track how many calories they burn. There are alternatives to…

^^ I agree. Though saying that, there are a variety of different styles to one martial art - you just have to look at Karate and Tae Kwon Do Edit: Ok, so I know Wikipedia isn't gospel, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Grappling_Association but it is BJJ,

@ppdes you're suggesting a lot of changes to be made all at once. I know, I for one would struggle to make ALL your suggested changes in one go. It takes time to make the lifestyle changes you suggest - give the OP a chance!

I'm pretty much the same, I prefer running first thing or late, simply because of there are fewer people about. I find it hard work to motivate myself to go running because the sods that make comments. Once I'm out and actually running I'm fine. I think it's the same for any sport or keep-fit activity. My size and weight…

Simply put, you're not eating enough. Either that or you're not logging everything you're eating and drinking accurately. To keep it simple and going with just what MFP settings you've used, you need to eat back your exercise calories. That's how MFP's targets work. Why are you aiming to lose weight fast? 0.5lb - 1lb or…

Love it!!

I've done Tae Kwon Do for several years and we're required to workout barefoot, as result, on the rare occasions I do workout at home, I'm usually barefoot. I wouldn't run barefoot or wearing barefoot style trainers, I much prefer my running shoes. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference.

A Fitbit will not give you an accurate calorie burn for anything other than walking and running: even then the burn a Fitbit records can be hit and miss. If it's working for you, great, but for other cardio workouts, I'd go with a HRM To the OP, there are a variety of posts on the main forums on what your calorie intake…

It's what you add to an uncooked item of food along with how you cook it that would change it's calorie value - deep frying chips is going add more calories then baking them, for example. As for how much you're eating, in terms of calories, there are numerous debates on these forums on how much and what you should be…

I quit smoking June 2010, up till then I smoked 20 a day. I used Champix to help me quit. I actually started my weight loss journey and getting healthier in Jan 2010, so quitting the *kitten* was a logical next step. I did find it hard to stop and I did gain some of the weight I'd lost previously (can't remember how much),…

I agree with bluefox9er too. I have a Fitbit Ultra. Overall, it's a useful tool and motivator if you're sedentary as the step count and numbers it displays and push you to more. I'm already active, I do a lot of walking, started running and that's in addition to 6 hours Tae Kwon Do training a week, so for that I use a HRM.…

There's no easy way of telling someone they have BO. If you're going to be the one to tell her, make sure you do it where you're not going to overheard by anyone and you're prepared for her being upset with you as well as embarrassed. Good luck
