That statement is silly. It's like saying soup is unhealthy or pizza is unhealthy without specifying any ingredients. There are dozens of margarines out there to choose from.

No offense, but I don't care. The OP asked for lower calorie options. I like both the Smart Balance Light with Olive Oil and the one with Flax Oil. Neither contain or taste like plastic.

What is mushroom ceviche? I've always thought that was seafood.

Why do you feel that need to change this habit rather than cut back somewhere else if it's something you enjoy? Do feel like you are addicted to the alcohol?

tortilla chips and salsa

Breakfast: big mug of tea Lunch: carrot sticks and peanut butter, low sodium V8 Dinner: Catfish nuggets with habanero tarter sauce, blackeyed pea salad, raw sugar snap peas, white wine

I trust my doctor. I doctor shopped until I found one that I liked. She is very good about asking questions, will always suggest lifestyle changes over meds if the patient expresses willingness to follow her suggestions*. But I still search the internet for verification of things she tells me. *Too many doctors suggest…

There are several lower calorie margarines available. Smart Balance makes several.

55 yo here. IDK If I still got it or not. I'm not even sure what it is.

I don't doubt that I would have lost weight more quickly without alcohol. But quick wasn't really my goal. I drink wine nearly every day and did so while losing about 36 lbs and keeping it off for 2 years. And for over 20 years while being thin before gaining weight. Wine is not empty calories.

Use a smaller plate and have your seconds. I often go back for seconds at dinner. But I eat the majority of calories at dinner so it rarely causes me to overeat.

Making changes for life is a good idea, but there really is no reason to think you can't try a diet you aren't sure you'll want to eat forever. You can absolutely try a diet out to see how you like it and then switch to something else if it's not working for you. You can even purposely choose to do it for a limited time…

Today at lunch I'll be improving my NEAT with the chainsaw as I cut up a tree that fell over the weekend. Something else I do quite a bit in winter is steps on a step used for step-aerobics while watching TV

Breakfast: big mug of tea Lunch: lump crab cake with sunny side up egg Dinner: Grilled pork chops, homemade apple sauce, collard greens sauteed in olive oil and garlic

I do the opposite. I have a time of day I try not to eat before (2:00 p.m.). But sometimes I do. It's not a hard and fast rule, more of a guideline.

Wine must be considered as part of your food intake. I drink wine every day and I still lost weight. I am 55 yo, 5'6", about 145 lbs and maintain on a little over 2000 calories per day. I don't 'exercise' regularly but I do lead an active life (we have a farm). If you don't want to exercise I would suggest that you find…

I absolutely believe different diets work better for different people. I think finding the diet that seems the most comfortable to you is very important for long term success. The more deprived you feel they less likely you are to stick with it.

Are you eating more now than you did before? Are you moving less? What caused you to suddenly gain weight?

Roasted, sauteed, steamed, pureed, in soups, in stews, in chili, in salsa, in pasta sauces, in casseroles, with dip, with hummus, in bean dips, mixed with grains, in omelets, for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, as snacks.

This is MFP. Unless Merriam-Webster has a study to back up that definition it doesn't count.

If you are going to weigh every day you'll have to get used to the fluctuations. Even weighing once a week you will likely see fluctuations up and down. Your weight is not solely determined by fat.

That statement right there would be enough to tell me that this friend is full of poo.

Unless you are insulin resistant or diabetic it's fine.

I think this has more to do with the manner in which something is conveyed and the overall relationship than with it being wrong to teach children that being fat is bad. When I was child I was taught that being fat was bad just as I was taught other behaviors that could harm me were bad. Not that people who are fat were…

Only you can decide whether it's sustainable for you. It is for some people and it isn't for others. It was not for me. But I still met my goal and have maintained the loss for 2 years without logging.

Do whichever you prefer. This is your life and your process. If you want to have a higher calorie meal and just move on as if it never happened that is fine. It won't make much difference in the long run if you do this occasionally. If you want to make those extra calories up by eating lighter for a few meals over the next…

Nothing wrong with casseroles if that's what you enjoy and it fits your goals. If you are worried about getting enough vegetables you could add a small salad to dinner, or ask if mum could add more vegetables to the casseroles. Or just take a multivitamin. Don't eat boring food.

Breakfast: big mug of tea Lunch: leftover bean soup Dinner: Shrimp cocktail, (hopefully*) grilled fresh trout, roasted spaghetti squash tossed with spinach, garlic and parmesan, white wine Dessert: chocolate covered almonds and red wine *husband took the day off to go trout fishing

Oh, that's sad. While my husband doesn't share my goals, he would never try to sabotage what I'm doing.

You are destined to be whatever you want to be. Vegetables are not required for weight loss. Eat whatever you like but stay within your calorie goals and you will lose weight. If you are worried about nutrition, take a multivitamin.
