  • It's handy because almost everybody I know that I need to keep in touch with is on my fb account. However, I do recognise that it can be damaging to my self-esteem, like, do I really need to see pictures of the mansion some acquaintance is thinking of buying when I'm saving for a small 'starter'. or, do I really need to…
  • It is sarah i thought deserved to win, not Amy. i meant SARAH
  • how is the winner decided? is it the biggest loser of who's left this week? or is their continous progress taken into account?
  • yeah, gerard or kevin will somehow lose a stone. paula and amy will only lose 2 or 3 lbs again.
  • Damo? They get all the ones who were voted back for the last day don't they? I hope they kept up the weight loss on their own. It must be much harder. When they're in that house they're 'locked in' really aren't they. They can't eat biscuits or crisps because there aren't any.
  • Use OAT bran. I use it to make my own 'bread substitute. It is very healthy and it fills you up. It performs like flour in a recipe. it is 340 cals per 100grams, so it's not the lowest calorie food out there, but it's SO good for you and fills you up. It gives you that carbed feeling without the badness. I am not on the…
  • I'm five foot one and 126lbs. I'd be surprised if I lost weight to be honest. I've been eating healthily and doing loads of exercise for ages and my GOAL is to get a slimmer waist. I'm basically happy at this weight. Just can't help hankering after a slightly less wobbly tummy and a biiiit more of an hourglass figure…
  • IF I SAID THEY were like a cinammon flavoured chelsea bun, would you say "what's a chelsea bun?' :-) em, just like a bread, a soft doughy sweetish cinammonish doughy bun (not like a fairy cake). does that make it clearer.…
  • What I would do is........... have one with low fat philadelphia cheese in the middle, and call it LUNCH. have a banana or something else as well. unless you've already had your lunch. and then, DON'T DO IT
  • This is like a really really easy 'bread substitute' and I make it and bring it to college. I calculate each quarter has 240 cals and it WILL FILL YOU FOR HOURS, as long as a sandwich. mix up in a bowl 140gms of oat bran 310 mls of skimmed milk 2 eggs Baking powder. that is the basic recipe but i add a crushed up banana,…
  • I do. I take the view that restricting myself to just 1200 calories isn't sustainable. I am being particularly mindful of what I eat right now as i'd like to reduce my waist measurement. But i'm not in to punishing myself by eating so little. I weight 126lbs at five foot one and I would like a slimmer waist, but I don't…
  • I haven't seen any threads where people just want to lose weight taking a pill.... ?????? I have seen a good number of threads like this though, telling other people how to view this weight loss journey. Posters setting themselves up as the judge of what is reasonable. Think it's a bit judgmental ..... Kind of OPRAH-ish.…
  • I was going to say this. Also, would you not go a bit mad only having juice? my body would need some sort of carb substitute. I made oat bran muffins like a bread substitute. 140gms of oat bran, 310 mls of skimmed milk and two eggs makes twelve and they have only 70 cals each, they are nutritionally sound, and high fibre,…
  • In a perfect World I'd like to just meet somebody somewhere and for an attraction to be mutual. BUT.......... I fear that when you get to my age (41) that just never happens. I do bat my eyelids a bit at a man I see regularly. I know him a bit better than just 'to see'. I know his name. He's always nice back but I've no…
  • Thanks! yeah lot of vanity sizing going on. i find that I am a size ten in the shops aimed at older ladies, ahem, like East, my mum shops in there and their 10 is a 14 imo! but in Oasis or Top shop i'd have to take a 12. i am determined to get into size ten OASIS jeans. Get in to them, zip them up and not have a roll over…
  • I agree that weight is not everything. I would like to abandon the goal that MFP has put in for me and say that my goal is to have a 28" waist. I've been doing this for about 7 weeks now and haven't lost a gram which is puzzling more than disheartening as I know I look better. It's annoying when people think that if you…
  • I found that to begin with. The first couple of times I did a really intense 7 circuit workout I was starting to cough, which is for me my form of asthma. I had to open all the windows, in early Feb! I took a puff of salbutomol and continued. My asthma is mild though. I don't know if I'd suggest basically 'ignoring' it to…
  • Well Gillian McKeith loves it and is always going on about it so I bought a bag. Never again. It's not a food with much taste. I stick to brown rice which is much nicer. I'm sure it is very good for you though.
  • I agree with DL. Ever heard of the 80/20 rule. I modify that to 90/10 even when I'm not trying to lose weight. Why punish yourself continually by never ever allowing yourself a bit of what you fancy? Food isn't an insurgent monster to be controlled. Dont' foster the idea that it will 'win' and get the better of you if you…
  • You do a lot of spinning. Could you ditch some of the spinning and do some abs work. Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack is supposed to be gREAT. I haven't got it by the way.
  • Love 30DS. Have worked my way through it (took me about 45 days though, as I took about 18 days on level one!). I'm doing BFBM about twice a week now, and alternating the levels on 30ds the other nigths. BFBM is absolutely brutal because it is 7 circuits! so even level two and level three of 30ds seem 'easy' compared to…
  • I don't eat them all back, maybe about a third of them. I'm not losing weight at all. I don't mean to discourage anybody. But I'm not sure I can lose anymore. I'm hoping I can still improve my shape and my tone and lose a few millimetres here and there. I've stuck to the 1200 cals every day for about 15 days now AND NOT…
  • huh!? wild *kitten* claims? it's hardly top secret that it's bad for you. And I believe that it's bad for you. Everybody I KNOW who is ADDICTED to diet coke like in the title of the OP is overweight. Am I not allowed say that or something? weird over reaction there. And a stone is 14lbs. I forgot for a moment that although…
  • Stay away from that stuff. Everybody that drinks is it overweight. There was a woman on an Irish website who gave it up and lost a stone. She didn't make any other changes to her diet as she wasn't dieting, just trying to give up one particular unhealthy habit. It'd make you wonder what the heck is in that stuff.
  • I think they are. I remember 'discovering' cous cous, and it was like I had to have some every night. Eventually I got tired of it luckily.
  • I didn't know that! I've learnt something. My children have American accents. We live in south dublin and it is a well-known social phenomenon 'round here. The emergence of the American accent all along the Dart line.
  • @dottienewton. lol at keyboarding for typing! i haven't heard that one. that's funny. But five years ago, we used to cringe when anybody said playdate. Now it has just passed into vocabulary and it doesn't raise an eyebrow anymore. Honestly we will ALL end up speaking in American accents and we will all end up spelling the…
  • Within ten years, all UK and Irish people will be spelling words the American way because of spell check. I notice that younger people spell realise with a Z, organise with a Z and so on. In fact, they probably even say Zee not Zed. Other words, such as 'traveling' or 'counseling' with only one l, once upon a time tutors…
  • I agree with you Fred77. It's not like we're grading papers here. Time and a place for everything.
