Hi, I'm from Ireland, but we'll be posting at similar times of day, and will have heard of the same products/tv shows/fitness dvds etc!. I love weight watchers and although I've never paid to join it (I'm so tight!!) I find I still think in (old) points. I am finding it hard to go back to thinking in calories. like for me…

American high schools sound terrifying. I think I was part of the normal group in my school and almost everybody was 'a normal'.
-
did you have diastastis recti perhaps? ~although i'm still trying to get back the 28" waist i had before dc1

Exactly. It's the OP's house. She's not entirely comfortable or she wouldn't have posted in the first place. It is a blurring of the boundaries. He also suggested she leave her own house! I was advising the OP from the position of having a EX who would happily walk all over me given the chance and I DID mention this, so…

"Exactly! I don't get the weirdness to this, I view it as him just putting in effort to see the kids and make them a "home" cooked meal rather than taking them out for crap food. " It's also CHEAPER. Sorry to be such a cynic. If he's got good reason to watch the cents then fair enough, I'm frugal myself. But is he going to…

Gosh you're all very mature!! i'd rather my x took the children out for 'some junk'.
-
My x used to treat my home like he could walk in and out of it but have put a stop to it now as I want to be able to feel 'at peace' in my own place, ykwim. Funnily enough, when you mention that he is 'not speaking' to his parents, it makes me think that he can't just feud with his parents knowing that he can take the boys…

Do all American restaurants list out the calories? that must be so helpful.
-
I logged my dinner as I was cooking it rather than eating it.

here's a link about the effects of social contagion on obesity levels. it's very interesting stuff (imo) http://www.fas.harvard.edu/home/content/obesity-rate-will-reach-least-42-say-models-social-contagion
-
ps, the best way to make healthy living 'spread' is to encourage not a FRIEND, but a friend of a friend, as this spreads the effect.
-
OH absolutely THERE ARE SOCIAL FACTORS. sOCIAL CONTAGION. Google social contagion and Framington. It's something I stumbled onto when I was googling epidemic of obesity. I had seen this social contagion idea mentioned on an irish website (safefood.eu) and I am fascinated with the idea.

If you like Sagas, check out Susan HOwatch. She has written some absolutely CRACKING sagas, but they aren't really published or fashionable right now. Cashelmara, Penmarric and recently I read her series set around the university 'A question of integrity' was one of them. Oh they were absolutely gripping! and very…

I could NEVER narrow it down to just one, but one I read recently that I loved was "A fraction of the Whole" by STeve Tolz. I have also recently read Ingrid Bethancourt's account of her 6 and a half years in the Colombian Jungle (after she was kidnapped by the FARC).

freeze it! i get a little buzz out of thinking 'whoo hoo wont' have to prepare&cook anything the night i eat this'
-
You sound like Paul McCartney there. I believe he still feels 'hip' so that tells you what you need to know! ;)

You're not really middle-aged, you're pre-middle-aged. I know myself. I'm in the lobby as well.

RE: availability of products in the uk (i'm in ireland but.... similar issues) i was ALL set to make that pumpkin fluff the other day, because people were raving about how filling it was with only 250 calories a bowl. I thought well pumpkins when it's not hallowe'en, mmm, i'll use courgettes, and then i realised i'd need…

I've never heard of it. ARe you trying to make a less oily peanut butter yourself?
-
I started the 30ds on 4th January, so I guess I am shredded. I have done it very slowly, I took about 20 days at level one before moving on to level 2. Now i'm doing level 3 and it is BRUTAL. I like it, i enjoy it, sort of!! but wow. She works you hard.

Oh yeah, when i lived in london i used to LOVE the ymca on tottenham ct road. have such fond memories of getting up at ungodly hours to do kickboxing before work! IF i were going to join a gym now i'd be temped by the Curves one for women only. I know , no chance of 'pulling' lol but really, I don't want to feel I'm being…
-
There are millions of gyms, so yeah, I'd shop around for one that you feel like you can't wait to go to. ALTHOUGH, if it were me, I know that there wouldn't be much that would TRUMP the nearest gym. Not having a car and walkign everywhere, or cycling, the nearest would always clinch it for me.

Mine tells me "if you eat like this every day you'll be 118lbs in 5 weeks", but I KNOW that I won't be because I ate like this every day for about a year only fell off the wagon if you like for 6 months. The last time I was running and I don't think I had as much muscle as I do now, and even then I wasn't close to 118lbs.…

If you order on line, you have a few days to lose a few more grams of course. I do wear different clothes when I'm size ten. I'm not all focused on drawing the eye AWAY from my tubby torso. When I am size ten I think 'well, i'm going to wear a belt and show off the hard work'! so i don't wear the same stuff just smaller.
-
Yeah that would really motivate me, when are you getting married?
-
I like these jeans in size TEN........... http://www.oasis-stores.com/Cherry-Coloured-Jeans/Jeans/oasis/fcp-product/3250160608 I don't like them in size 12! I love those brightly coloured jeans but I suspect at 41 I may be a decade too old for those. :-9

No it isn't ! Under 20 is underweight, 20-25 is 'normal'. 26-30 is overweight.
-
can i see your diary?
-
Wow. NO eye contact with 'slutty chicks' at the bar. How commendable. You sound a gentleman. I take it from your mission statement that you're as frank in real life as you are on line. Wow, good luck with the classy chicks, you're going to need it!
-
Who wrote that!? hugh heffernan? Anna Wintour! ;-)
