  • good luck with your journey - as long as the motivation is there you`ll definitely succeed. All the very best to you :-)
  • In the colder weather I usually make Rooibos tea in a flask and drink that.
  • I have a water routine. When I get up I have a glass of water, one glass before and one glass after shower. Then another one before and after each meal. Thats already 9 glasses of water and I drink way more than that. I just know that if I do this I am drinking enough automatically.
  • I think everything has pretty much been said as far as food goes. I have serious problems with overtraining when it comes to exercise after recovering from a debilatating bout of mono-nucleosis. I end up going cold and battle with fatigue quite easily. I now use a pedometer and it really motivates me to get moving. I walk…
  • I am a sugar addict - I have lost 5kgs (11 pounds) eating 35gm of wine gums, 100 gm of chocolate chip yoghurt and 50gm of chocolate EVERY single day. I walk 10000 steps a day (at least) with the help of a pedometer and eat a decent sustainable breakfast every morning 9for me its eggs on toast) which I believe makes a huge…
  • There are a lot of people who were heavily overweight who only used the fitbit or pedometer to reach their goal weight. Its not strenuous, its easy and its very motivating seeing those steps go up. I cannot advise you on the strength training, but thats what the other folks are here for. The community forums are great!
  • I make sure I have a good breakfast, usually a large egg on toast with a chicken sausage(it usually sustains me quite well). Then instead of lunch I have at least two snacks which are filling - either a large apple with cinnamon (to balance my sugar levels) or a a yoghurt cup. My cheat tends to always be on a Saturday…
  • I would just see how it goes with a slow amble around your house 10 minutes a day - listen to your body though. Only you will know if you can do it and whether your doctor says its okay. If you cannot handle it then stop and try again the next day gradually increasing the length of time in one week segments.
  • I`m not able to walk around my neighbourhood because of safety as well as allergy issues so I have gotten very creative, especially working from home. I walk around the biggest room in my house. I walk during commercials either around my coffee table, marching in place if I`m watching a TV show or I hula hoop (thats fun).…
  • I blew it my first three days - I logged even when I went over, like today...lol. It gets easier when you find out which things sustain you better. I had to decrease my weight loss goal per week though because I found the sudden reduction in what I could consume was too much of a jump for me. I have gradually reduced more…
  • I am a sugar addict. I have to agree with what one of the other MFPers here said. Drinking 9 glasses of water and brushing my teeth after every meal has made a tremendous difference in helping me with my cravings. You do acclimatise to the amount of water you drink - so its only a week or two where you will need to use the…
  • I think you should just try to moderate it - I use the 70/30 rule. As long as I do the right thing 70 percent of the time. I do buy processed foods - like chicken steaklets and oven french fries, I eat one steaklet and five fries - but I make sure they only fit into the bad 30 percent with my other guilty pleasures. I also…
  • Playing twister with some friends - was sore for a few days after - we had about 10 games. - lol I walk up and down my house, and do laps in my brothers dance studio while knitting. Some people I know also walk around their neighbourhood and pick up any litter they find. Ballroom dancing also burns a ton of calories. I…
  • I`d say get yourself a fitbit or pedometer and try to walk 10000 steps a day - its a great motivator to get you moving enough. As far as foods go, let MFP work out the calories and try to stay under your deficit. I don`t go by food elimination at all and have been losing fairly consistently since I started. Others here…
  • its looking good - just make sure that you don`t feel deprived or hungry
  • I would say, that having sodium show up would be quite important. Salt can sabotage weight loss in a big way and its good to let you know how much you are taking in. I am losing more steadily taking a slower weight loss with a larger calorie budget. I think when you eat too little you slow down your metabolism too much.…
  • 1) I work for myself doing my passion and answer to no boss 2) I have the time to work on my other interests and improve myself 3) I have loving and encouraging people in my life 4) I am able to keep pets because of my job and they bring so much sunshine into my life 5) I have a terrific Mom who I get along with famously
  • I`m a huge fan of chilli dark chocolate. The chilli makes the dark chocolate taste a lot like milk chocolate and it is the ONLY chocolate that gives me satisfaction from only eating two squares. I also love chocolate soy milk - it tastes like nesquik. If I want to be really good I start with a large green apple cut into…
  • My Mom ended up in hospital early this year with Atrial Fibrollation (heart was beating irregularly over 200 beats a minute) due to undiagnosed high blood pressure. We almost lost her, she was at an incredibly high risk of a stroke or heart attack. I will never forget the despair I felt at not being able to do anything to…
  • I`m unable to walk outside due to severe allergies. I walk indoors around the biggest room in my house. I can do 3000 steps in 30 minutes - on other days I do 10 minutes of Calisthenics. Those 10 minutes of Calisthenics make me sweat bullets - I got a few workouts off of pinterest.com and modified them to my beginner…
  • Also Rye cracker bead with peanut butter - yum. Rice crackers and mustard or fat-free cottage cheese with black pepper. Two squares of dark chilli chocolate are awesome to get rid of chocolate cravings.
  • Apple with lots of cinnamon sprinkled on top to make them sweet is my favourite healthy snack. Cinnamon is great because it stabilizes your blood sugar which helps with staving off cravings.
  • Hi Kyle, I have stuck to the program pretty well, since I started. I don`t lose weight every week and I do have those family weekends where I go over the limit. I weigh and record every week - I also take my measurements because when you do strength workouts you gain muscle which is heavier than fat. I am losing…
  • Thank you all for your replies - I've been feeling a bit despondent the last 48 hours, but your comments have made me feel better now. I have lost 2kgs since I joined and lost centimetres to go with it. I completely agree with the weighing once a week, it definitely keeps me on track. I believe the motivation from others…
  • Don`t try and go cold turkey and stop them all in one go - try to drink two glasses of water before you have a Redbull, you`ll be less likely to want it afterwards. I think the Mountain Dew is still way better than the Redbull by the way. You could even mix half sprite zero and organic apple juice together - it is divine…
  • I want an indoor swimming pool - it is one thing lol. If I had to pick something else it would probably be my hula hoop.
