Yup, I ate lots of treats in December, put on about 2 lbs, but I'm not upset about it. Looking at the positive: I was physically unable to eat as much junk food as I would have in the past. Even Christmas dinner and New Year's Day, I didn't fill my plate nearly as full as I used to. And I stopped eating when I felt full.…

I have 5 lbs left, which I had hoped to reach by Christmas. So...time to refocus, lose that last 5 lbs, then my goal is to tone up and maintain for the whole year!! Good luck everyone!!

I used to be fine with flying, until I had kids. Now I get major anxiety attacks. In a word: Ativan. Ask your doctor for a prescription...even just 10 pills to have on hand. Take half a pill shortly before your flight. If you don't actually fall asleep, you'll be so relaxed, you won't give a hoot about anything!!

I never said anyone had to be a martyr. Hell, I'm certainly not one myself. I've got 4 kids, all of whom I chose to breastfeed, exclusively and for longer than the average, but I never sat around saying "Woe is me, I can't go out tonight because my children are tying me down." There are ways to work around it, obviously.…

As far as I know, my breastmilk has never been recalled: www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-57349328-10391704/third-baby-gets-rare-bacterial-infection-infant-formula-to-blame/

Agreed. BUT she is talking about her choice to formula feed. Not that she tried breastfeeding and was unsuccessful or didn't have support.

Your needs?? Sorry sweetie, but when you become a parent, your needs take a backseat.

Coincidentally just saw this in my newsfeed: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2359203066282&set=p.2359203066282&type=1&theater

Precisely! It's oh-so-much healthier for our children to see half-dressed supermodels, pop stars and actresses than a regular woman nourishing her child. :grumble:

<Proudly entering my 96th month of nursing (not the same child. lol). And for the record: I managed to nurse twins (in public even!) without "whipping them out for the whole world to see."
-
Only because our ancestors equated larger breasts with fertility and the ability to nurse the young. In a way, it's a "chicken and egg" debate. But really, breasts serve no other purpose in reproduction than attracting the mate.

I beg to differ. When my now 6 year old was 4, she started a conversation out of the blue. She said to me, "Remember when you used to give me milk?" She weaned at 2 1/2, but 1 1/2 years later, she still remembered nursing. I asked her if she remembered what it was like. She said, "It tasted like 'I love you.'" Does that…

Okay, so the vet who told me to only get the front claws done must be stupid then. So sorry. I've only owned cats for 13 years. I guess I've never seen one climb a tree or defend itself. Geez.
-
Take a good look at 2 cats fighting: they hold each other with their front paws and kick and scratch with their back paws. I've seen our cats do this plenty of times.
-
My husband and I have had cats since before we met; the highest number we've had together is 4. Only one is declawed, the one I got when in university. I didn't know better: I was totally uneducated about what declawing really was. After finding out, I swore I'd never declaw a cat again. And I haven't. If you feel you must…

And I do log it precisely because it's an out of the ordinary event!

It has to come from him. You can't nag him into it...that will never work. My husband saw my success and just decided on his own to start eating better and exercising more and he ended up losing 35 lbs alongside me. Just today we were looking at pictures from January of this year and he commented on how big we had both…

See this is why you shouldn't weigh in at the end of the day. Seriously. Try again tomorrow morning first thing and you should see a difference. I mean, really, why would you even weigh yourself at the end of the day after eating like that? You're just setting yourself up for disappointment. I ate a lot today (not as much…

When I started losing weight, one of the first things that happened was the Boob Fairy took her gifts back. :frown: At my heaviest, I was a 40D. Between nursing my youngest and reducing my calories, I'm wearing a 38C (though I could probably get away with a 36). Before I had kids, I was a B, so I guess I get to keep a…

When I was in high school, we were at a drama festival and this guy from another school approached my friend and said, "Do you like puppies?" We were like "Whaaaa??" It was a conversation starter for sure. When I was university, my friends and I were at our favorite club on Halloween when I was approached by a guy wearing…

< Love at first sight: we met May 6 2001 and were married May 18 2002. :) 10.5 years and 4 babies later, and he still makes my heart go pitter-patter. And he's lost about 35 pounds since I started my MFP journey!

My mini-goals were in 10lb increments, with a reward for each one. At 10 lbs, I bought myself a new dress. At 20 lbs, I got my hair cut and highlights. At 30 lbs, I bought a pair of high-heel booties. I just realized the other day, I hit 40 lbs, but didn't have a reward planned, so now I have to come up with one. I think…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanity_sizing I saw an interesting bit on Dr. Oz one day (I don't normally watch him, but I was channel surfing and stopped when I saw he was talking about obesity). He was talking about vanity sizing, and how each company's sizing is different: many more expensive ones use lower numbers on…

Hmmm...I've tried #1 three times...is that considered yo-yo dieting?? The second time, I even popped 2 parasites. Boy, did that weight come off fast.

I think it's very do-able. We're a family of 6 and we probably spend $250 a month on groceries. Some tricks to smart grocery shopping are: -use coupons combined with sale prices (we can't stack coupons in Canada and we don't have double coupon days and stuff like that, so I try to use my coupons on sale-priced items) -buy…

Amen to that!

I log shopping as "walking, leisurely pace" because I don't shop very often, but when I do, it's usually a full-day thing. So I am definitely walking more than I do in my normal day-to-day life. (I work in an office so I'm sitting on my butt nearly 7 hours of the day.) Cleaning is also not a day-to-day activity for me...I…

Am I really the only woman married to man who doesn't need to read this message? Back off ladies, he's mine and I'm keeping him.

Well, for my fellow Canadians, I will refer to Reitmans jeans. The Comfort Fit ones with no button or zipper (the ones that you wear a size smaller so that they fit right!) Back in April, I bought new jeans for a trip. I bought 15s, the largest size in the "regular" section. Since you size down one, I probably should have…

Holy smokes! What part of the great white north are in you??? I'm in Eastern Ontario and it's 1 here today. They're calling for 10 tomorrow!! It's going to be a green Christmas if Mother Nature doesn't smarten up soon!
