There are going to be a lot of ups and downs and changes and low spots and successes and failures along the way. You will find yourself adjusting your beliefs about food and eating, exercise, virtually every aspect of your approach to getting healthier. I would say just go easy on yourself, count your calories and don't…

Muscles that haven't been used in a while will be sore after you use them. This should subside with continued exercise.

Op, I see little value in hiring a personal trainer. If you have the money to spare and you think that you'll go to the gym more often if you've shelled out even more money that your gym already charging you, then go for it. If not, the internet has more than enough information on what exercises to do and how to do them.…

This is a proof for my entire assertion.

The sole purpose of the "free" fitness assessment is to sell you personal training. It exists for no other purpose and the trainer is a salesperson. Relax, breathe, do the exercises you like to do. You got this!

Yes, but I'm also looking for someone who will fall in love with me and take me away from all this so... just putting that out there people. Anyone?

So... if a train carrying 1,000 gallons of fat leaves Los Angeles at 8am and passes a train from New York carrying 1,000 pounds of muscle, leaving an hour later, the previous day, before either of them reaches St. Louis MO, and neither of them has any Grey Poupon, I can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time? 1.21…

The only way to achieve a reasonable degree of accuracy with this kind of variably intense activity is to make use of a heart rate monitor. There are tools online available to help you estimate your burn based on a variety of factors if you wish to make use of them but I do not believe that they will prove as accurate as a…

I would say just make sure what you eat comes from a place with easily and reliably quantifiable calorie counts. For example, go to a chain pizza place instead of a local one because the chain one will almost always have their nutrition info available either on their website, at the restaurant or both. As far as exercise,…

Here's the problem: the lower the calories, the lower the alcohol content. If you're drinking to feel the effects of alcohol then you will not be happy with some low calorie beers. Bud Select 55 calorie beer has 2.4% alcohol... 2% more than non-alcoholic beer.

Cycling. Definitely, cycling. I love it.

So... you've never weighed 300 pounds and you want to know how people can gain enough weight to reach 300 pounds... because... why? This is a personal question that often has a complex answer involving painful memories. You don't ask someone about something that's potentially traumatic and/or embarrassing unless you've…

Nothing. Anything is fair game as long as it fits into our calories.

Eating my mother's Italian rice until I vomit and then eating more.

Check me out. Road cycling man, it's where it's at. I am losing huge weight and eating near 3000 calories per day because of how much I'm burning between cycling and Stronglifts 5x5.

I lost 76 pounds and gained back... I don't know... 60-70? Anyway, I'm back, trying this again. 25 pounds down so far.

I am also new to cycling and it's my latest obsession! I have a Jamis Coda Sport.

Eating fat is great, I eat tons of fat. Along with protein, it keeps me full. I also eat lots of carbs and I don't care how refined they are. As long as I'm under my calories and steadily losing weight, I'm gonna eat ALL the foods.

I am not a physician but I think it's reasonable to assume that your preoccupation with these "symptoms" has more to do with the obsessive personality characteristics that led to your eating disorder in the first place and less to do with something that's "wrong" that you can somehow change. What you are describing are…

I think you should you just eat whatever and exercise so much that you burn way more than you could possibly eat back. That's my current strategy and it's working so far.

Well, my dinner alone is typically 1400-1600 calories so I'm out... I guess. I still want friends to pierce the clouds of my loneliness though... AM I FOREVER CONDEMNED?!?!?

Get a bike and ride 20 miles at a time. Burns a little over 1000 calories for me. Then I can eat all the foods and still lose weight.
