Also do your research on the drugs your doctor proposes to give you. Statins, the most widely prescribed family of cholesterol drugs, have not been proven to help everyone, just a small subset. Don't just blindly take what's being prescribed.

Insanity fries your legs. If you're going to actually do the Insanity program I'd say that including spin would be to much. If you just want to add a few Insanity workouts to your spin program that might be ok but be careful. The first month workouts are 40 minutes. The second month they are an hour.

Started week 4 yesterday, but it's my 6th round. Just going to get this one in and start P90X2 in January. My advice: Man or woman, no mattter your goal, do the classic program. It was designed that way and that's the way you'll get the best results.

Live in Chicago, but work in the North Shore area.

Perfectly said.

Weight training helps maintain muscle mass while on a calorie restricted diet with lots of cardio. Cardio burns calories only while your doing it, muscle needs fuel all day long. Loss of muscle translates into lowered metabolism. Weight training is also a must to help maintain bone density.

Have gone out in the Woodstock area before but we're going to Indiana Sunday, County line Orchard. We'll see how it goes. I find it funny that my wife, who was born and raised in the Chicago thinks picking apples is fun. I grew up out in the western suburbs and we had apple trees in the yard and picking them was one way I…

My 2-2 Bears shouldn't even be a thought for you. You've beaten us the last three times we've played! By the way go Falcons!

Here's a link to a consumer reports article about the levels of toxic heavy metals in some brands of protein powders. Something to consider before buying simply by price. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine-archive/2010/july/food/protein-drinks/what-our-tests-found/index.htm I consume on average 2 scoop of a whey…

Exactly. Plug in the Fat shredder ratios. It's so much easier that way. At least it was for me.
-
My only suggestion would be to increase your protein a bit and decrease your carbs.
-
With the exception of liquids, I always go by weight.
-
I just looked at your diary. Your protein goal is 59 grams a day. At that level there should be no need for supplementation.

Don't get hung up on the "muscle" that woman has. I would not consider her muscular, but has burned off alot of body fat so that her toned muscles are clearly visible. A sa female on a calorie restricted diet, doing strictly cardio, you won't gain muscle. You'll tone it.
-
I don't even bother with my HRM for resistance exercises. The calroie burn is completely different from Cardio and the algorithm that most HRMs use is really for cardio only.
-
If you're hitting the weights for a good hour lifting heavy, cardio afterwards.

I've done P90X a few times. The only part of their diet plan I followed was the ratios they suggested for each of the three 30 days phases. The P90X nutrition plan doesn't plan a caloric deficiet so Ihad to drop about 500 calories off what they suggested. I still ate at the 50/30/20 protein/Carb/Fat ratio but at about 500…

Not to be a jerk, but I assume you bought "pirated" copies. The legit program comes with everything you need to know.

As a female on a reduced calorie diet, you will not gain muscle. To gain muscle you will need a caloric suprlus and then it is difficult as women simply cannot add substantial muscle without years of heavy lifting and possible chemical help. Toning yes. I've done 5 rounds of P90x and it melts the fat away. Do no do the…

Get the fitness guide for P90X from your friend it has everything you need to know.
-
The cardio workouts are an hour. The resistance workouts with Ab Ripper X are about 70 minutes Yoga is 90 minutes.
-
Why wait to tone up. Start lifting weights now!
-
P90X rocks but the CLX workouts are shorter and that would seem to fit you needs better. I say go for it!

Depends on your fitness level. When I was 246 and out of shape, it was enough to get me to sweat. 65 pounds later it's just a toy that my kids and I use. tim

I've only tried the ice cream sandwiches. In my opinion they have no taste.

Ifyou are new to working out this is normal. Your muscles are being abused/injured and are possibly retaining fluid to help heal them. I was up about 5 pounds after 2 weeks of doing P90X the first time. I ended up losing 16 pounds after 90 days and then another 16 after the next 90. Tim

The current science shows that comsuming a mix of carbs and protein driectly after a tough workout is best. The ratio is typically 4:1 or even as low as 2:1 carbs and protein. The purpose is to replenish the glycogen your muscles just burned and the best way to do that is with high glycemic carbs. Our muscles burn glucose…

I going to remember that one. Thanks!

You've lost 136 pounds! Tell your Doc to stuff it!
