You pretty much have to be as it's not an option in my family... Runs too deep.

Great input so far. Here's a great video as well in addition to what's already been shared. Benefits to me are a high intensity cardio session that burns a good amount of calories (not much more than others though) and is super fun to do. Done properly, less impact than running - which I also love to do. If you're going to…

I'm active and try to always comment/be supportive. I state in my profile that if there's no interaction in the first couple weeks - I delete you from my list. No interest in being a friend collector myself and will not become one on someone's list who is. If anyone would like to add me - feel free.

What helped me tremendously was using a roller a few times every single day on it. I actually didn't have an "official" roller so I used a rolling pin. A bunch of clips on YT show this.

That's great that you are enjoying the Peloton bike so much. I also Spin at home and love it. An amazing workout.

Already been said, but proper bike shoes with cleats is the ticket.

Do you ever receive friend requests without messages? Yes, more often than not. Do you send friend requests with messages? Always so they know how I found them and tell them a little about me always stating to accept or decline as they see fit based on the info I give them. Do you think it's creepy to receive a request…

We love going to WDW. Definitely a place where you can consume a gazillion pounds of food each day. Sounds like you did a fantastic job at finding a healthy balance of keeping the food thing in check while having an enjoyable time without sweating about all the cals. Nicely done!

I own a Spin Bike and love it! An amazing workout. I have some DVD's I spin to and enjoy. If I were going to pay for a subscription - no doubt, Studio Sweat On Demand is where I'd spend my money. Never used an indoor trainer so I can't offer any input on those. Both probably offer you a fantastic workout.

I'm fortunate I come from a city where the opportunity for music education is considered one of the best in the country (and in some cases the world). At the collegiate level, people come from all over the world to study here. Only a few are chosen each year - so not all make it. I'd be willing to bet though, most cities…

Understood... I get cranky as all 'get out' if my routine gets impossible due to conflicts -especially parties. This time of year is a challenge for sure with the parties. Not sure if it's being self-centered or not, but I know my routines keep me in a good mood and not doing it will set me off in the opposite direction…

Never spoke to anyone when I made my decision to get on a healthier me track. As I continue to modify and morph within the process, I continue to say nothing to anyone. Obviously my results have raised eyebrows, questions and comments (some positive - some not). I try to be polite each and every time but keep my short term…

My heart breaks for you... truly... I can't imagine what you are going through emotionally and physically. Caring for yourself in every way is of the utmost priority. Only you can define what that means. Please feel free to add me as a friend if you so wish.

Yes.. Drummer, piano & now - clarinet. Come from a long line of family members who were/are musicians. Been studying & playing for 40 years. It's a part of my DNA - can't change it. Played, recorded and taught for a "living" for 6 years.

I should follow up saying, because she sees me daily, she's more than used to it. It's the people who I only see a few times a year who seem to be the ones with the issue.

When I began losing, my wife was supportive though once I hit a certain level, she said I went too far. Much to her dismay I kept going. Eventually she became used to the weight I'd hit and want to stay at. After almost 1 year, it's now the norm.

Congrats! Yes, the C2 rower was a game changer for me as well.. Love using it. Do you keep the C2 log?

I tend to think variety adds to motivation - though motivation is self defined and self driven. I also think adding other types of activities will prevent injury in any one focused activity (such as running). Having began as just a runner with the C25K myself, adding rowing was a huge plus for cross-training. Also think…

This is my approach... This is what happened to me. These are what I do and they provide an element of cardio as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg1RPoXBCNk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM-Z3axdxUg

I have been assembling mine over time (about 1.5 years) based on interests. I'd suggest finding out what you like to do and build around that, realizing interests may change over time. For me it all began with a treadmill - which I seem to use less these days - but anticipate using more now that the snowy weather is…

Mid lifer here as well. Now on maintenance - lost almost 50lbs. Feel free to add me if you wish.

Fitness Blender offers a great deal of options you may (or may not) find interesting. A TON of posts on this similar topic on the forums here. Give the search function a try - may be quite a bit that turns up. fyi... I'm also a home gym person...

Worth it or not only depends on if you'll use it. I still use mine occasionally after 4 years - especially since I live in bitter cold and snow for 5 months of the year. As for "too fat to run outside" - that's a load of crap. If you want to run outside - run outside. I see people of all shapes and sizes on my runs and all…

I'm sorry.. I forgot to include that. Some people do - my family does not. Ham and other assorted roasts (beef/pork) are often pushed for Christmas & New Years. However - most of the side dishes are the same.

Cool! Your son has some worldclass chops = no doubt. That's such a unique talent and takes so much dedication to accomplish. Kudos to him! Please let me know how he does on the audition.

Can depend on family tradition, but the big push is turkey, some sort of stuffing (dressing), potatoes (sweet/yams/white), breads/rolls, cornbread and various veggies. Toss in some wine and liquor - good to go! Good thing is, it's all low carbs so it never weighs you down ;)

New to spinning but I bought Louis Garneau Escape Cycling Shoes. They weren't too expensive and got them on sale. Not much to compare them to but they work for me. Needed to buy the SPD cleats separately. They run small so ordered next size up and they fit as cycle shoes should.
