I don't generally say this, but I think you would really benefit from doing a Whole 30. Buy and read the book "It starts with Food". Read it once and then read it again.

I started paleo in August 2009. I lost about 50 pounds in six monhts and maintained that until I got pregnant with my son in 2011. After my son I have stryggled a bit to get back to my lowest weight, but this is mainly because I have a thyroid condition that was not being properly maintained by my old doctor. I am at about…

BUt, you have also never been paleo before.

I agree that 1200-1500 is still low unless you are extremely sedentary and do nothing but sit all day long every single day. If you are that sedentary, then there is your answer...get up and move. If you aren't more than just a bump on a log you may want to consider upping your calories a little bit more. There may be a…

You need a new doctor. A functional medicine doctor or NP would probably be helpful. Did anything happen around hte time everything startedt to go downhill? Another illness or a stressful situation?

When I was first tested for hypothyroidism I was "normal" too. I struggled with symptoms for a few years after that until finally my thyroid gave up and my TSH shot up over 100! Then they started me on medication. Now, if my TSH is over about 1.8 I have symptoms. Normal varies by lab from 3 to 5.9, if your number is above…

Woot!

If you're feeling better than focus on that for now. I know someone that just ate real food for a long time. She felt so much better so she just kept at it. After a YEAR of being paleo with no changes in the scale or body composition she finally started to lose inches and drop her clothing sizes. It took a full year for…

Would you fault a lion for eating a gazelle? A gorilla for eating the bugs it picks out of its partners hair? What about a bear for eating salmon? No? Why not? Because it is what they are required to eat to survive. We may be on a higher level of thinking, but we are still animals. Our make up as animals requires us to eat…

Leftovers for breakfast here too. Meat and veggies, fruit with yogurt, mixed berries with coconut milk and some added protein with collagen powder.
-
I add collagen powder to my coffee, one tablespoon has 6 grams of protein and it is pretty much flavorless. Gives me some added protein and the benefits of collagen for joint health...bonus!

I just looked at the ingredients on the Darigold version and it looks fine. Sometimes they add other things that are "scary" to thicken things. Not, really scary, but something like carageenan that for some people causes gastrointestinal distress. Looks like this is just the addition of the powdered milk, no biggie!

Try not eating bread for two to four weeks and see how you feel, then go back to eating it and see how you feel. The only way to know what is causing bloating is to eliminate things that could be an issue and then reintroduce them. My husband and son have non-celiac guten intolerance and one of the symptoms is bloating,…

I had to go wheat free to help deal with the autoimmune portion of my thyroid disease. If you are a vegetarian are you eating alot of soy or using soy products to help bolster your protein? If so this can interfere with your thyroid medication. I try to avoid soy, but there are other plant based proteins that would work…

In the beginning I also did up to three "open" meals per week. It helped me transition, but not everyone can handle doing that.
-
Start simple. Don't eat grains, legumes, dairy or potatoes for the first 2-4 weeks. Eat real food, make veggies and meat/seafood/eggs and some fruits, nuts and seeds. The bulk of your meals should be protein and veggies. Eat what you want when you want within those guidelines. After the initial healing phase you can try…

I haven't read all the responses. I agree calories do matter. But, if you are only over by a small amount it probably isn't tha calories. I have a paleo friend that has been paleo for over a year, fairly strict. She saw no change in body composition (measurements) or the scale until she was consistently eating paleo for a…

Welcome! Another thyroid person here that has really been helped by a paleo template. I started eating this way in 2009 and it really changed my life. I find i need to supplement selenium to really feel well, I just eat 3 brazil nuts a few times a week. Chris Kresser has an entire series on thyroid that is excellent.

If you want to fit better in a smaller size I would suggest adding weight lifting and high intensity intervals to your workouts.

While it is true that diet is 80% of weight loss, when you get to the last few pounds it isn't so easy. What is your exercise routine? Is it possible that 130 IS your ideal weight even if it isn't what you want it to be?

Boo! I can't "see" it right now.

Bahahahaha! My son has non-celiac gluten intolerance. If anyone wants to question that they can come and visit, feed him crap for two days and then deal with his vomit and diarhea....yeah, it's that fun. I know for my gluten free was key, because of my thyroid condition.

Totally! If you are bored on paleo it is because you are lazy...too lazy to google, too lazy to cook...too lazy to live. Basically, I feel that those peopel are really saying they got tired of needing to think about thier food and ende dup in a rut, then they couldn't just order a pizza or something so they gave up. I'm…

I eat primarily paleo, we can't afford to eat all organic or to buy grassfed meat. We buy the best quality that we can and don't sweat it when we can't afford the expense. I have still been very succesful with this lifestyle. I did the typical MFP caolrie counting for 3+ years and was lucky to lose 1 pound a month, even at…

This kind of meal is a "go to" for us. We do it with all different flavors. If I don't use coconut milk I add some eggs into the ground beef before adding the tomatoes for some extra bulk (we have five children so the eggs are a cheap, but nutrious filler). We call any and all variations of it "slop". When we serve it the…

I read this years ago. I need to dig it up and read it again. I can't remember most of what I read...lol
