My favorite kitchen tool is my ulu. It makes chopping so much easier.

This is really a testament to how feeding your body nutritious food is so healing! I love to see people getting healthy, not just losing pounds.
-
Absolutely blush worthy!
-
If you have been logging, how are you measuring? Also, what were you eating during that time?
-
I would add more carbs, 1/4 of a sweet potato isn't really much. Starches are your friend, white potatoes or green plantains are good options as are winter squashes. You don't need to eat low carb, especially when you have super active days.
-
Welcome home! You can do it!!!
-
Well, 20-30 NET carbs will let you eat a good amount of veggies. I don't use the net carbs idea, I just go with what MFP shows and count carbs that way. I tend to stay between 75 and 125 grams of carb a day, some days more. When I am more active I need more.
-
Yay! Welcome home!

They didn't do anything to violate the TOS. Just stated that it is impossible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. I didn't bother getting into a discussion. It isn't worth it.
-
Sigh. I did it again. Why?!?!?! Please, stop me!
-
This is a good point. One may gain muscle and so appear to be heavier by the scale, but will be more fit and will look better naked.

I agree, some people do great on VLC and others just can't handle it. Although, 75-150 is technically "low carb" so, I will never be against the concept.

I tend to follow more PHD too. even when I first went "paleo" and didn't know about PHD I was more in line with that. I was eating a plantain by myself almost every day. When I tried to go "real" paleo and increase fat with decreased starch/carbs, it didn't work. I didn't lose weight. So, now I stick with what works for me.
-
I do best on 75-150, it definitely keeps me from going over board on non-paleo carbs. I am one of the people that requires some starch.
-
Not insane amounts of calories, but at 1200 a day with moderation I lost barely anything, with 1900-2200 "paleo" calories I lose nice and steady.
-
I actually lose more with paleo and more calories than I did with "everything in moderation".
-
Welcome!

I started paleo after years of hopelessness with weight loss. I was lucky to lose 1 pound a month, even with strict calorie counting and exercise...lots and lots of exercise. My dad introduced me to it and I was skeptical at first. Then I didn't see him for about a month and he had lost 7 inches from his waist and 27…

Also, how are your vitamin D levels?

Do you have psoriasis?

I am not sure about using the gelatin/collagen, but the research that supports the use of glucosamine and chondroitin shows that it takes 6 months of supplementation to see a positive change in patient complaints. It may take more than a few weeks for the Great Lakes too.

We didn't go crazy with the supplements, just one. Here is the description. A pure formula providing bioactive forms of four essential B-vitamins together with betaine (also known as trimethylglycine or TMG) to synergistically support methylation processes and normal homocysteine metabolism. •Delivers two active coenzyme…

It's all good info! I did have him start taking the proper B vitamins for the MTHFR (even though we don't know if he has it) because they won't hurt him if he doesn't need them. The one he is taking also helps with homocysteine levels, which I know are a problem too.
-
Thanks! The MTHFR doesn't really come into play with the heart disease much, but goes more into his pain processes and muscle pain. He has reduced carbs, but not as much as I think he needs to. He did get his tris down from 6,000 in October to 500 right now. That is still well above the healthy range, but a step in the…

Were all of the cholesterol levels higher? How about your triglycerides and HDL? What were your ratios. Those are more important than what a simple number tells you. I too need more carbs than some people to stay healthy on paleo, I use rice and white potatoes which others won't touch. On occasion I will eat oats too. I…

I eat eggs, I love eggs. When I don't eat enough eggs my hemoglobin is low...blah! I was under the care of a dietitian for years and limited my eggs, beef and other "high cholesterol foods" and my cholesterol bordered on being high. When I switched to a lower carb way of eating and increased my fats, which included eating…

I definitely think you need to eat more too. I see most days you eat just two eggs for breakfast, add some extra stuff in there.
-
When I first started I went with the "three open meals per week" mindset. In the beginning I used those open meals all the time, but now I don't feel like i need them any more.
