Congrats on your loss, you did this and you should feel good since this is something you wanted it... and you probably wanted it first for yourself before anything else (attention from others, etc). There is no harm in therapy (I have had my share and it was helpful) to talk through these kinds of things. On another level…

Basically the rest of the evening - 12+ hours with twin toddlers and I am fried... i may just want to enjoy things (food) tonight. Some yummy pictures here!

I had a similar problem at one point, do strength training, you would be amazed at even what a light weight lifting routine on a regular basis can achieve. I had lost a whole bunch of weight years back and barely saw any change in my body fat percentage, but I was doing a ton of cardio (biking, running/eliptical etc) Since…

I say fill up on protein and fiber, and for fiber fruit can be sweet so can carrots - try to eat these things first and fill up... there must be some veggies or fruits you like? Drink lots of water... Apples saved my a** and still do and if you don't let yourself get too hungry and fill up on healthy foods it can go a long…

raw spinach, kidney beans, cucumbers, tuna, corn, broccoli (no dressing but it was a big heap of food) and a gala apple (trying to be good today as I ate a lot this morn :)

One other thing - I find that the next day after heavy drinking it's not so easy to get the motivation to work out... take some advil before bed!

Some good advice here - I would watch the intake because IMO being drunk with coworkers is not a good idea, and bar food on top of the beer - also not great - Can you put a 2 beer cap on it? That said one night will not kill you... For me recently I went to a farewell for one of mine and after 1.5 beers I said something…

NY, NY born and bred Manhattan!

I would love to just have cookie dough but it's not worth how I would feel - I try to eat pretty clean, feel free to add me - I reached my goal and now trying to maintain and get stronger.

Just go to the gym - or take a class there you will feel the social pressure to move. Other than that I also have kids - maybe you just want to take a brisk walk with some music as an escape where you can just focus on you. Treat it like it is not an option, and you'll thank yourself later. Good luck!

First of all, that's a huge leap forward from 40% to 27% - great progress! I think if you just keep going with your lifting, perhaps trying to progressively increase the weights and keeping your diet clean, eating at a slight deficit, you should see more improvement. I went from about 23/24% to under 18% by doing the above…

Eye of the Tiger - Survivor, or even the Fame theme song at one point :)

Are do you doing any strength training? 14lbs in relation to what total? If you are losing and don't do any strength training you may not see much definition. strength training will help retain muscle you have while you are losing.
-
I think you should set several goals - first shoot for 18%., maintain that for a while, then go from there. - I went from about 23% to under 18% but it was by keeping my strength training going, increasing workouts, and getting my eating cleaner (ongoing process). It did not happen overnight, but I was also losing weight…

Many people have advice, I'll just say what about trying to eat more healthy foods - even if you still have the donut, if you have had veggies and fruits you will have less room for the donuts. Logging everything is a great idea to start, that way you can see what you are eating. And have small goals that you can reach -…

10 Years! Awesome - really great tribute to you and to the possibility to maintain and sustain real change! Great job. I am in a new range myself lighter than I have been in years, and I never want to go back.

A pint of ice cream with apple pie, and whatever other sweet "drug" of choice (cookie, etc)... Occasionally Frappucino's in the morning on the way to work... Not good!

Regularity is much more important than 1 intense burst. Agree with others some soreness expected. These days everyone wants immediate results overnight with intense workouts to maximize every second. But if you have a long term approach and can keep regular workouts, you will probably naturally want to increase your…

Fellow parent here, sounds like you have a supportive husband. What I would ask is what happens when you reach your goal - how is your life supposed to change? Could the goal change into getting healthy and sustaining those changes? Eating is important to both having energy, and being fit. I can appreciate wanting to look…

Whatever you do, don't starve yourself - that's not the answer - work out or just accept it for what it is - an occasional thing.

breakstone's fat free cottage cheese with some fruit (protein and fiber) - it won't make you tired later and will tie you over. Also I think dark chocolate in moderation is actually supposed to have benefits.

I think chemistry weighs just as much as what routines they take you through, while in theory I can see your point, if they are helping you reach your goals that's what counts. Then again it also comes down to what you are comfortable with - if you can't see past this and you are paying good money then you may want to look…

I am in a healthy weight range BMI but technically about 5 pounds out from goal weight and definitely have more health and fitness goals - my result goal is more about toning up certain areas and eventually strengthening once I get here. However it will be a challenge not just to maintain but break that plateau to take it…

From the book "What to say when you talk to yourself", there are self-affirmations that I still use to this day that really have made a huge difference for me. The brain doesn't know the difference between the messages you give it and "reality". I repeat the following to myself frequently: I feel great; I look great and…

I would echo davis_em. One other thought, can you try to eat something healthy before the "other" stuff? That way you are least getting nutritious food in first. For example maybe have some yogurt and fruit before hitting the dessert, or have some non-fried vegetable with fried food if you are having fried food? Sometimes…

First congrats on your progress! Awesome. Self-affirmation and visualizations can go a long way to let that stuff just wash over you and not internalize... If you keep seeing in your mind how you want to feel and look and you feel good and are living healthy, that's really what matters anyway. When I was a kid my father…

believe it or not, was working out to Radiohead... just let the music wash over me...

Sounds like a good plan if it's working for you. I know for myself the number can distract me sometimes from my goals which are not just about a number, but strengthening and toning... I check a couple of times a week but if you are on a good track then stay the path you're on and lay off the scale! Maybe you can do a…

Hey there don't be too hard on yourself - it's great to have goals but also maybe you can take this in steps... I work a crazy schedule myself (5/6am-3pm three days a week and other days are normal but often online early) and have kids too... 1) Like others said, can you work out in the mornings? Maybe you can get a work…
