  • Can you find another way to get that ginger snap flavor? Maybe substitute stevia for sugar, and applesauce for oil? Make a big batch and freeze some for later. I find these stories of 100+ pounds lost simply amazing!! Thank God for MFP!!
  • You sound like a great person. Why don't you fill out your profile so we can get to know you better?
  • I heard Dr. Oz say that gimmick or not, if it helps people get started on weight loss, it's useful. Personally, I think it can help with the early weeks of adjusting to smaller portions, even if it's just a placebo effect.
  • Oh, I forgot to mention that I have never been able to stick with 1,200 calories a day. I need a number I can live with, so chose to lose at a slower pace. Also, I've noticed I'm hungrier if I don't exercise for 3 or more days. MFP allows more calories for exercise days. Try warm tea with skim milk, an apple, or…
  • Good advice Dianne, just make sure the fats you choose are healthy fats. Example: throw some avacado in your sandwich or salad. It adds healthy fat, but also keeps you feeling full longer. Meal timing has made all the difference for me.
  • I lost 8 pounds last year on the 5:2 plan, but I was very, very hungry and hypoglycemic-feeling on those days. I quickly gained it all back feasting at the cafeteria when I worked at a summer job that required a lot of physical activity in my day. This time I started out with reliable information from…
  • I'm glad that I started out with reliable information from http://www.choosemyplate.gov/weight-management-calories.html. There is so much mis-information out there; gimmicks, products, and unhealthy weight-loss methodology. Well-meaning people will give you all sorts of advice. I question any plan that is bottom line, or…
  • "One pound at a time" is a good approach. Don't be a flash in the pan, and burn out fast. Slow it down. Learn to eat healthy and manage your weight from official sources such as : http://www.choosemyplate.gov/weight-management-calories.html.
  • I started gaining weight in my mid-20's, so I joined Weight Watchers. I was probably a size 8 then. The much-larger women at the group treated me with disdain, with eye-rolling, and negative comments on my need to be there. If I had developed good eating and exercise habits back then, I wouldn't be 50lbs over-weight today.
  • Hello, I had a relationship with an individual who battled with addictions. I was thinking one day about how addicts choose their drug of choice over their relationships, their health, their jobs, and happiness. I couldn't imagine letting something control and ruin my life like that. How could they be so blind? Then I had…
  • Hi Marie, I felt totally defeated by my weight, and had given up trying to lose. I went to see my doctor, and he set me up to see a nutritionist; however, it was something he said that was the key. He said that I sounded hypoglycemic, and asked if I knew about eating small meals frequently throughout the day. I…
  • Hello Blake from Bend. I drove up to Bend one day when I was in Oregon. It smelled so amazing there. I think it was sage brush...or maybe the pines? I'm fairly new on MFP too. Lots of great help here... tips, recipes, no-math, advice. Good Luck!
  • zarckon, You must have missed the link I provided for her that gives the contact info for professional foraging guides in Australia. I found them with a simple Internet search. Foraging is dangerous to do without guidance, I agree, but so is driving a car. People lived for 50,000 years or more before grocery stores. When I…
  • "I'm sure the sweating is just a normal part of the adjustment process your body is going through" "That said, NOBODY on these forums should be giving advice about potential medical conditions..." ...So, isn't this a contradiction?
  • 1 cup of almond milk warmed on the stove. 16 dark chocolate chips whisk until melted, add a few drops of mint extract, and stevia to taste. almond mild, mixed berries, stevia or honey. • handsome! Do you have to Hi-karate the women off?
  • BTW, my profile pic is my before pic. Not ready to post a progress pic yet. My sister took this picture on our way to the beach. I look like a crazy bag lady, but I thought it would encourage a change!! Hahaha
  • Virgoddess, what an amazing transformation!!
  • 6. Patience is key. I planned to try to lose a pound a week over the course of the entire year, starting in January. Sometimes in the beginning it felt like the process was taking FOREVER, but I knew I would be more successful with a less-drastic approach that would be easier to sustain. Make a weight-loss-rate goal you…
  • These are fabulous, low-calorie, and healthy. I've only been able to find it in the refrigerated section at Kroger. Several varieties, but I love the blue cheese. http://www.litehousefoods.com/content/litehouse%C2%AE-foods-announces-launch-new-opa-litehouse%E2%84%A2-greek-style-yogurt-salad-dressings
  • "One of the greatest groundswells in global food trends – food foraging - is moving more into the mainstream as individuals are seeking connection with their food sources and chefs are taking up the cause of integrating more wild foods into the way we eat. Keen home cooks and culinary tourists can now sign up for seasonal…
  • Be careful. Sweating may indicate hypoglycemia or diabetes. You should see your doctor.
  • I watched an Asian family harvesting watercress from a water-filled ditch one time. I couldn't believe they were eating that, but at least it didn't have pesticides. If you live in a rural area, there are many foods that can be foraged from nature. Many people pick mushrooms, dandelion greens, and other foods in nature.…
  • It's not really low cal, but I switched from International Delight French Vanilla to Atkins French Vanilla shake (resealable container). I tried several alternatives, but nothing was giving me satisfaction. By using the shake, I added protein to my morning. I bought Skinny Girl - French Vanilla stevia in the squeeze…
  • I'm glad you posted this because I just experienced the same thing, and wondered if my scale is faulty, or what... It helped to look at my weight loss over 30 days because then I saw a pattern of two weeks with little or no loss, then Whoosh!, a 2 - 3 lb drop. kind of gross, but maybe the body holds onto potential…
  • Trader Joe's Fish Nuggets, Butternut Squash risotto, and Garliky Kale chips
  • This stuff was so good, that I ate the left-overs for breakfast! The sweet and juicy pineapple is magnificent! I forgot to mention that the veggies are Green Giant Healthy Weight; the one with the black beans. This was a little higher in calories than I'd like, but I had done Aqua-fitness and this was my extra calorie…
