hmm, I certainly don't need to gain muscles on my thighs or quads. they are already big because of hereditary and lots of biking in my youth

Thanks newmeadow, that does put things into perspetive. hasta_la_vista, i felt great on low carbs for the first several weeks. Maybe it's the Halloween candy that's doing it to me :)

I've pretty much given up all refined sugar - I try to limit carbs, but eat veggies and fruits. though if you look at my recent diary, you'll notice a slight increase in junk (halloween candy), as I look to my normal "go to" foods to lift me out of a funk (chocolate). And no, that's not working. ha!

I live in New Orleans -- it's been sunny and in the 70s for about a month now. No SAD here :) I may need to pump up my calories - i usually net about 1200, but the depression is relatively new.

BTW!!!! she also recommends these calorie formulas for losing weight 10x goal weight for sedentary, 12 x for light exercise, (1-3 times a week), 14x for moderate exercise (3-5 times a week); 16 for vigorous exercise (6-7 times a week) 18x for daily exercise and physically demanding job. with thesenumbers I would gain!

haha. nice catch Sullus -- i didn't even register that HUGE discrepancy. Yeah, veggies don't count because they are mainly fiber and the carbs are ok in that instance. Fruit counts as carbs. Good luck! I have pretty much given up alcohol (and I live in New Orleans!) I could easily put a way a bottle or two a night myself. it probably doesn't/didn't help with the carbs and cravings. Tiff -- I'm on board with you - have to lose 60-70. A husband, two kids and a dog. Finally finding time for myself to exercise and eat right. Family is a bit shocked, but I've been sticking with it four almost three weeks now! Go girl!
