I found that run/walk, even though less than a full out run, still gives me a pretty good burn and exercise for my levels. If I feel like I am overdoing it, I use that strategy until the body feels fully ready to go again. So I wouldn't down play it.

I think running inside on a treadmill is boring. Intervals help me pass the time but still boring. I like running outside to places and I run to music (if the tune changes pace, so do I).
-
Yeah you are overdoing it. If you are going to go for 1350, at least eat back some of the calories you are burning until you don't feel like you are gaining or on par and not losing energy.
-
Well, you're on MFP for a reason. Hopefully you are one of those people that once they drop weight, these types of things disappear. You might even be healthier than most.
-
would you say that you have a high body fat? 35%+
-
I lost 20 in 3 months but I was outside of a healthy range.
-
Agree with @rankinsect. I measure before eating so to eat more requires more effort so I don't do it.
-
This is a good one as its for normal weight. It looks like the total stayed the same as well which would make the total/hdl ratio higher (better).

Sounds like for $20 more you can get a Garmin VivoSmart HR if you want it to read HR on the wrist. With a HR chest strap, you can probably get an older model. Most Garmins are water proof and I never take mine off for swimming. I don't think it counts the laps for you though.

I guess so when you look at the absolute number.I would have expected a better trend to match his bottom variables. I really don't have anything to compare his to other than my own 10 years of result data. My trend is for the better. However, as you said, he is still in range so it's mute anyway when it comes to choice of…

I kinda agree with this commenter (specifically the Cholestrol/HDL):- meg March 16 2 Your current cholesterol is 26% HIGHER this year than when you started LCHF. Your triglycerides are 43% higher. Your HDL (Helathy) cholesterol is LOWER, but your LDL (Unhealthy) is nearly 50% HIGHER. Your fasting glucose is also higher…

This is exactly what I would expect.
-
Pretty interesting that your total Cholesterol remains so low. I assume this is without medication?

Macros help me with moderation. I love and eat pizza, bagels, and donuts. If I try to fill my day with donuts, I will still want to eat more and blow away my calorie goal. Watching macros help me to eat foods I like but still be overall satisfied. Maybe its just all mental, who knows. For instance, yesterday I ate mostly…

I tried to make a biscuit with strawberry protein powder. I was lucky I didnt puke.
-
too much effort. I just count the serving size and move on.
-
Good point. When I was on statins, there was no doubt that my LDL and total numbers were lower but what it did for my overall health that I dont do now? I dont know.
-
Maybe thats why HDL is part of the key ratios. 10% had HDL > 60, and 1% a combination of low LDL and high HDL.

eventually you have to learn how to eat at Golden Corrals. Forget its a buffet and follow the same model of the meal you will eat at Applebees. they have veggies, they have meats....if you didnt have a major workout, forget the desserts and extras.

My doctor didn't think so. Honestly though, I feel way much better now than I did then. I'm not walking around bumping into things anymore, no back and chest pains from bending over, and I have a little bit more spring in my step :)

I went back in history to when my doctor wanted me on statins (which I took for a while but don't anymore). I was really bad about taking them. Total Cholesterol - 223 Triglycerides - 57 HDL - 62 LDL 150 Chol/HDL Ratio - 3.6 I'm 5' 10 and that was when I weighed about 185-190lbs (BMI 27+). I weighed about 169lbs when I got…

One more thing, just based on the definition of ketosis, I would expect most people to go into it for weight loss purposes (if you have a large deficit). My body fat was way higher than it should have been in the first place.
-
Sorry, I had to look for the records. So I didn't get an actual number like you did. It's just bolded on the report and has a 1+ next to it (whereas everything else in negative or in range). I went back to my diary and the day before I did 54% Carbs, 19% protein, 27% fats before my fast (that's around my norm) Total…

If I remember correctly, Applebees should have a 500-600 calorie selection on the menu. Can't go wrong there. Just skip the appetizer. Those can be double that :)

Good researching. This one has some very good links in the References section that when traced can provide a wealth of information.

Gale, my thoughts are that there is no reason why I need to go below 30% carbs. My normal is 50%+ and based on the ketone count in some blood tests I obtained during weight loss, I know how to put my body in ketosis at that level. I don't think my body handles fat as well as it handles carbs but I do love fats and believe…
-
Gale, your plan sounds like a good one. Any real reason you chose to cut the fats versus cutting other areas in order to reduce the overall calories? I have a special interest in metabolic syndrome related research etc (even if it is n=1) and though we may have some differences with regard to your thoughts on carbs, what…
-
I wouldn't use it. Other than calories, nothing else is filled in. Makes it a garbage entry in my books.
-
really good answers to your question. Hope you read it. Generally, protein helps you to feel a little fuller and the protein powder for many is a good low calorie substitute. Its good that your trainer didnt advise you to overdose on protein but as others have said, it has nothing to do with fat burning and that by itself…

Thanks for responding by the way. I dont disagree with anything you say. As a researcher, I just like to point out that correlation doesnt mean causation. I do like Mark's Daily Apple as well and you do know that 75% carbs doesnt fit that model. However, its all about making it work for you and it looks like you did just…
