If you are working out three times a week, i would try upping your protien intake, it will help increase tone and if you train the right way mass (idk if thats what your going for), it also takes more calories to burn protiens than fats and carbs. I recently cut beer completely out of my diet, and i gotta say that it i killing me. However,i have more energy and have noticed greater results in muscle tone since i switched to liquor. not as tasty, but it gets the job done
