Yes, water retention to repair muscle will make you gain. I also find I am starving all day after a hard workout, increases that metabolism. I have to watch my calories closely, and I try not to eat back the ones I have burned.

I have been in your shoes!! I quit smoking three years ago after 45 yrs of puffing and yes I did gain weight. I gave myself a whole year after quitting and joined WW, to date I have lost 50 lbs. Going back to smoking will solve nothing. If you want to speed up your metabolism exercise, a lot!!!! That was the only way I…

I have used SP in the past, one thing I do like is the exercise videos are free, however MFP has a better database.

Just got my 250 mile badge from my fitbit. I have been active my whole adult life and have found that walking is still the best along with a toning program.

U can add me as a friend. Been at this a little over a year, still battling the last ten. You can do this.

I am using resistance bands instead of weights and find them much easier on the joints. I, too, have arthritis in my knees and shoulder. I take a class so the instructor helps us but I am sure you could find a dvd to instruct you. I have always done cardio, but after losing the weight I found I had lost a lot of muscle…

That is quite an accomplishment, congratulations!!! I think when you have challenges you just gotta reach down and pull from that inner self. Keep up the good work, after 60 it is tough to lose but can be done. Thanks for sharing.

This is just great, thank you.

I think if you have diabetes you have to watch all sugars and carbs including fruit sugars. They can still effect your glucose levels, but I would check with my doctor. I know when I was doing WW and eating a lot of fruit my glucose levels went up and my weight loss stalled.

Homemade shrimp gumbo, only 190 calories a cup. Glad to have power, live in Delaware. What a storm!!!

Plus, protein fills you up and you are not as hungry. I did WW and found that all the fruit I was eating stalled my weight loss. I increased protein and decreased carbs and it worked. Also, protein helps to rebuild the muscles if you are exercising.

When I was doing WW they gave you unlimited fruits and I would not lose if I ate fruits high in sugar like bananas and grapes. I switched to berries and apples and it seemed to help kickstart my loss. I think sugar is sugar and if you are carbohydrate sensitive, like I am it makes a difference. I increased my protein and…

Good for you!!! I quit 18 months ago, it is tough to do but so worth it. I feel better, BP is better and I am losing the weight I gained. Hang in there, also there is a great support website called Become an Ex.org. Tons of info and support. Congrats on a great decision.

Westie my third!! They are precious!!

63 years old and still at it. I never would have thought I could do this, but so far I am down 32 lbs. It has taken me 6 months but it is working. I started on WW last April and switched over to MFP again a month ago. Great website.

You can try cutting down carbs and increasing your protein. Even when I stay in my calorie range I have to watch my carbs. Wine has sugar in it, natural but still sugar. Give it a try and see if this kick-starts your weight loss. Good luck.

congratulations, that is quite an accomplishment!!

I have lost 29 lbs since April and have flabby skin. I am 63 years old but exercise pretty regular. I am trying to increase my resistance training, I prefer cardio and tend to do it more.

I do both WW and MFP. I found the calories to be about 1100-1200 if I converted the points over to MFP calories. That was using no weeklys or activity points. MFP gave me 1300 a day including fruits and veggies. I was told by WW leader to use the weeklies but I am stuck at 26 lbs lost and cannot move it. 2lbs up 2 lbs down…

Hope you are feeling better soon. I am glad they found out what was going on. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Will the RA go away after the infection is controlled? Feel better!!

I have been on 26 points as well, been on WW since April. I have lost 26 pounds but now I am stuck in a plateau. I used MFP to calculate my calories at 26 points and it gave me between 1050 and 1200 almost daily. MFP says I should have 1300, so it was pretty close. The problem with WW is fruits are free foods and full of…

That is what I need to do, I am bad about drinking my water!!

I have been on WW since April, lost 26 lbs. It is a good program but I am thinking about just using MFP. Same great tracker and tons of support. Feel free to add me as a friend on both boards. Good luck.

You are right, if I count calories for my 26PP it is only about 1000-1100. This site gives me 1300 calories a day but remember we do not count fruit and veggies on WW. I have lost weight on WW but am not getting enough protein. If you use this food tracker it will give you the breakdown of carbs, fats etc. Good luck.
