  • Hey! Welcome to the site. I too am a newbie. Am thrilled to have found the site. I too am hoping to make some new friends on here. Will need lots of support, humor, tips, and kicks-in-the pants. Jen
  • Maybe you're just lucky and hide your extra pounds better :) I think it makes a big difference where on your body you gain weight. I have friends that are overweight but their faces never change. My cheeks, chin...and additional chins.. are quick indicators for me if I'm gaining weight.
  • I'm eager to read the responses. If I'm in a super-rush it's usually string cheese, whatever fruit is on hand, protein bar, instant oatmeal (Revolutionary Oats), can of soup. So I too need help!
  • I really don't know how to season meats. I guess I assume someone else can do it better, cook it, and I'll pay a little more...
  • i LOVE the idea of getting rid of the scale. Give it to a friend or neighbor for a few weeks til the "spell" is broken :)
  • The nice thing about getting together with someone you knew long ago is the sense that they already know you. It may have been a lot of years and a lot has happened, but hopefully he will still know and remember the real you. And thanks for sharing this - it's nice to live vicariously sometimes :)
  • Meeee tooo :)
  • Sounds like this is not your restaurant choice? I agree with some of the statements above. My experience is that it's the national chain restaurants that are the worst with the sodium and additional "hidden" addititives such as squirting oil &water mixtures into your chicken breast -- which you would otherwise THINK was…
  • So I'd love to know where in town y'all might go for quick, healthy meals. I'm just south of downtown so I like The Screaming Goat and their taco salad with abodabo chicken. And I love Freebird's salads. Course, now I need to figure out their nutritional values...
  • So perhaps a Dutch cowboy? ;p Greetings from A-Town here! I hear you on the rapid weightloss thing. It's almost like we just open the flood-gates for a while because we just don't have the willpower to put towards it. But you're here now and in my few days on this site, it's seeming great :)
  • Oooh, a great thread! I agree with the idea of not creating big exercise goals straight off - too easy to over-do it and get discouraged or even injured. I often wonder how folks on The Biggest Loser can launch into hours a day after not having worked out in godknowshowlong. I also joined mfp this week and decided that…
  • Agreed - lotsa chemicals but sometimes you've got to just pick your poison :)
  • Darnit! I've only been on here a few days. Clearly I need to be paying more attention to the men :)
  • Okay, so I turn into a seriously grumpy, *****y woman when I cut down my sugars and carbs. I mean, it can just be me eating what a healthy person would eat - in no way starving myself - but not eating much carbs/sugars and whammo; I am CrankyJen. I thought this was a PCOS thing but maybe not?
  • Heya, I'm also newnewnew! :) The format of this site is what has me excited. It's definitely borrowing some of the Facebook friend updates structure and I think that will keep it more interesting for me. So how did the first 20lbs come off? Are you doing reduced cal, fat or a particular exercise regime? Jen
  • Nah, not a bit like a guy but decided to respond anyway :) We share a goal: clothes. Mine is to fit into my cute, fashionable clothing again because *damnit* ...I don't want to go spending money on clothes in my current size. Plus, it's hard to feel sexy with a belly :) This is my first post on this site that I joined…
