Kale chips. edit: They taste like cheez-its but are so good for you. Bonus points if homemade. http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/nutritional-value-baked-kale-chips-2057.html

I LOVE TEA. no milk or sugar. I have a whole section of my cupboard just for it. Specialty teas are so exciting. Just the other day I picked up Celestial Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride - I can't recommend it enough. So good and it seriously smells like cookies. Sleepytime Vanilla and Bigelow Apple Cider tea are great too! Tazo…

Everyone has the capacity to change their habits. Few have the willpower to do it.

Also, to those who think "there is more to just numbers," clear up any irrational claims at the link below. There's no mystery ingredients to losing weight, no magic. Only numbers. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1111515-for-the-nerds-in-you-tdee-estimation-with-graphs

Your BMR will gradually decline, yes. But your body won't "freak out" all of a sudden and dramatically change the amount of calories you are burning. However, netting BMR will cause you to lose weight, as it's below your TDEE.

Please don't use the argument that margarine is "only one molecule away from plastic" or whatever. That's not how chemistry works.

Don't pace yourself, and if someone tries to pass you, block them with your elbows! Also, be sure to flail your arms, as the increased motion will improve your inertia, making you faster! But try not to lift your knees, the lower the better!! You don't want them to get too far away from the ground! You're running for…

I will allow myself some dark chocolate whenever I get a sweet tooth craving. Or, something else I do, is cook some old-fashioned oats in the microwave with a little water, cinnamon, and brown sugar, then flatten them into patties and bake them in the oven for a few minutes. Since I am staying away from floury baked goods…

Don't be intimidated if you see those people and think they have been enjoying it a long time. Like everyone else, they started out small and got good enough to be able to enjoy it. C25k is a nice program, I've done a few of the sessions even though I was in cross country and track a few years ago.

Don't starve yourself - it slows your metabolism. If you're exercising regularly, 2000 calories is a healthy estimate for someone your size. I know because I'm 5'5'' and that is what I eat and also do regular exercise (30 min strength, 30 min cardio, swimming, biking places. 5-6 days a week). To answer your question,…

I got up early, worked out, then went to swimming class. Feels good.

I really appreciate your taking the time to share this! Not just results, but methods! I can't wait to get home and start a sheet of my own. Do you mind if I message you in case I have questions?

This is the best feeling ever and the reason I do a lot of the things I do.

My average day: 30 minutes strength training 30 minutes cardio. 10 minutes bike to school, 10 minutes back over large elevation differences. 30 minutes swimming class M-W-F. 20 minutes bike to work and back, same hilly ground. Plus I try to do a little swimming after work, usually 10-15 minutes. Not high intensity, just…
