I've heard Vitamin E (Mederma for example I think) for any kind of scar - never heard cocoa butter. I did learn from my doc when I was pregnant that they've done bunches of studies on cocoa butter/shea butter to prevent stretch marks and it doesn't work - just an old wives' tale. :(

I am absolutely not an expert, but my 2 cents is, it's a down week for a reason. Run your 9 that evening - I think it will be best for your body. That being said - I'm not sure there's necessarily a "wrong" decision here since it's doubtful that the 5K is going to tax you too much. Good luck!

I ditto that you need more time, but still put my vote in for a half-marathon. Just finished my first one last weekend and it was great! You can always sign up for a 5 or 10K along the way as part of your training for the half! :) I also ditto Hal Higdon's website - very helpful. Good job on the running so far!
