I'm almost 5'8" and my goal is 150, but ideally I'd like to get a little under that. It'll depend on how I look and feel at 150. With my build, if I went much lower than that I'd be too skinny. Heck, my doctor told me that health-wise, I didn't need to lose any more weight when I was about 15 pounds heavier than I am now!

I'm 46 and my girl is almost 5. It took some terrible stuff that my husband was going through at work for me to realize that he wasn't taking care of himself, and I sure wasn't taking care of myself. That was what finally lit the fire I needed under my butt to get healthy. I've had a couple places along the road where my…

Good for you!! I just ran my first half marathon over Labor Day weekend and I'll be doing my next this weekend. I'd be beyond psyched if I could take 9 minutes off my time!! I'm running a Disney half in January too, that's the one where I'm really hoping to be able to improve my time.

Holy crap!!! What a difference. You look amazing! I used to hate having my picture taken and did NOT want to look at any pictures of myself. Now I actually like what I see in the pictures. Sometimes I get pissed off at myself for taking such crappy care of myself before and being so unhealthy. But I try to remember that I…

As some others have said, I try to plan for those days and "budget" my calories. I make sure I get in a walk or run in the morning if it's possible (and for me, it usually is), but I don't go crazy with the exercise that day or subsequent days. I try to go lighter on the calories earlier in the day so I've got more "in the…

I'm 5'8" and down to 164 (from somewhere near 215). I'm hoping to get under 150, that looks lean and healthy on my frame. When I had my physical a couple months ago (when I weighed ~11 pounds more than I do now), my doctor said my weight was OK and health-wise I didn't need to lose more -- my blood pressure's great,…

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I'm sitting here in my new jeans now and I'm still excited. I haven't worn size 8 since before I was married & had my daughter. Someone at work made a comment about my "skinny jeans." Boy did that feel good!!

I can SO relate to your experience! For me, food really is like an addiction. (And as someone who's worked with a lot of addicts as part of my job, I know a lot about addiction). There have been times when I felt completely out of control, that I literally could not stop myself. It's been a life long struggle for me. The…

It sounds like the explanations you've given him so far haven't eased his mind. Another idea would be to go have a physical and discuss it with your doctor (as long as you have insurance/can afford that). Hearing that a doctor said what you're doing is healthy might be more convincing for him.
