I've been super happy with this liquid Stevia from Trader Joes. A couple of drops provide a sweetener I honestly like even more than sugar or spenda...

I hear you there. I dropped down to 179 doing a successful round of P90x a couple years back, but over time gained it back. Whole30 just sounded like fun because my wife and I love to cook and thought we'd enjoy the challenge of using limited ingredients. I'm a little concerned because my first day back at eating "regular"…

That make sense...

The 8 glasses a day thing has pretty much been proven bogus. The study it was pulled from was including the huge percentage of water you get from food items (fruit, veggies, meats) all loaded with water. Just keep yourself comfortably hydrated and you should be fine! :)

Sounds like fun. I've read about Body Beast before. I am reading, however, that p90x2 is challenging and takes some time / practice / muscle memory to get the moves down. With that read, I'm thinking I'll just do the first two phases of p90x2 when I finish the full p90x. 3 months of p90x and 2 months of p90x2 + hills and…

I was in the same boat for a long time. I ONLY enjoy exercising when I am fit and/or seeing noticeable results. That's why an intense daily program and radical diet change like p90x was a great first step for me. And the monotony of running is horrible -- I can't stand it! I get so bored running and tend toward shin…

Seltzer and juice. I love it. I usually do Seltzer water on ice with a splash of orange-pineapple or cranberry. Kills the craving for pop and will hydrate ya, too!
-
Craft beer and pizza. Well, not give it up forever or entirely -- but let's be real, the above used to be a staple.

Smart! I'm 95% clean-eating while I train right now. I second that it's time-consuming and quite expensive (my staple dinner lately is grilled salmon, quinoa boiled in chicken stock, and mixed veggie stir fries). The health benefits of a diet like that are undeniable, though... I'm also a single workaholic and can make the…

I was actually just posting an interesting article from the Atlantic about the early American diet, and its evolution and connection to heart disease. The "findings" (though some of it is questionable) does show some serious contradictions with things we just assume are correct. I don't need the internetz to justify eating…

Just because something can be passable in negligible amounts doesn't make it any less "bad." I enjoy my selective poisons from time to time, but calling a spade a spade is important for moderation. A cheeto is objectively worse than broccoli -- saying otherwise I'm pretty sure is just trolling. Side note: My understanding…

Scoop of peanut butter and/or handful of peanuts. Great for satiety.

I mean, definitely not malarkey for me. I think a lot of people today have their palate so bombarded by sugar and salt that they they've been blasted of the ability to appreciate complex flavors. Agree to disagree on that one. I don't judge people, but objectively there are "good" and "bad" foods for the human body -- and…

Also can we have more threads about this?
-
I would, too -- but certainly not before I switched to clean eating and whole foods could I really appreciate the flavor of carrot. Honestly now I'd rather have a well seasoned plate of charred brussels sprouts than a nasty cheeto.
-
Is a cheeto ever healthy? ... ... If I eat one I eat 20 and want more; vanishing caloric density; it makes me thirsty / hungrier, leading to terrible decisions. The item itself may be fine as part of some CI/CO calculation if I eat two of them and move to a carrot, but it was designed for me really want another making that…

Oh no, of course not. I'm not crazy. I had one of these a month ago and I'm still happy and healthy:

I... I.... used to eat a primarily hot pocket-based diet and I'm not terribly proud of it :). Needless to say radical change was needed.
-
I'm personally a proponent of "clean eating" -- but that's because I feel a ton better when I eat whole foods and hit my targets more easily (in fact, MUCH more easily). Also just want to say there's a huge difference between weight and overall health. A slightly overweight person who eats a balanced, nutritious diet is…

It's not perfect, but still an interested read. Also I have a suspicion that all the fear of red meat is overstated and has more to do with unhealthy eating / lack of exercise and nutritional balance than it does red meat. Note: I say that with absolutely zero background in nutritional science, or study in anything related…

They're definitely not for me, but I'm also in the clean eating camp and live by it. Also, having to eat that junk would make me feel like I'm on a portioned diet. And that is neither fun nor sustainable...

The idea that it "kick starts your metabolism" is clearly garbage -- but that doesn't mean that protein / good nutrition in the morning can't help with concentration, energy, and encourage better food choices later in the day. At least, it does for me.

Great advice. Cardio is not my strength right now (or in a long time). And that's the one
-
I used to be like this -- until I started early morning lifting/workouts. By 7:30am I am starving for good food and throw on some pork chops and slice up some avocado with salt and pepper!
-
Thanks, this is a really helpful note. I'm enjoying P90x a lot right now -- and I've been up getting up at 6am to make time for it. I'm not married to any plan yet past p90x. You've convinced me at the very least to stick to p90x for the 3rd and final month and just complete the program before making a shift. Insanity…

Slow negatives is really great idea, never thought of that and it makes a ton of sense. Found this online: P90X Pull Ups Improvement Strategy #3 – Negative Pull Ups This is an advanced strategy when you’re looking at just building up your entire pull-up ability. Here are the steps to achieve the negative pull up:* Cross…

Yeah, so I'm hearing that from friends that have done it, too. Basically, don't underestimate the cardio. I'm going to hit up the park and start running; even though I really hate running.

Enjoy a piece of dark chocolate while you enjoy something complementary, low cal, and filling (like yogurt or yogurt drink). Keep it out of the home expect what you'll portion for the week :). If you kill it... Well now it's gone.

Great advice!! Yes, the plan is to do p90x3 classic schedule for 3 months at 6:30am before work every day. And then do running / sports / biking and mixed cardio in the park evenings and weekends. Also throwing in some hot vinyasa classes in place of p90x3 yoga.

Thanks for the feedback. So it sounds like you keep the lengthy p90x "chest and back," "legs and back," "core synergistics" and replace the slower cardio sets with more intense x3 workouts paired with running.... Correct? Thanks for the advice!!
