I cannot fathom eating that much, as even 1800 calories would take forever to consume. (small framed woman) How would one find the time? My tips are several: Keep sugar free candies around to keep your mouth occupied. (so your teeth don't rot). Whenever an urge strikes, get up and walk around. Take deep deep breaths. Drink…

Cardio is for heart health and ease of movement, and bone density-promoting types are of value. You'll thank yourself later in life when you're NOT stooped over and aching. Find something you like to do.

Seconding the Shirataki suggestion. The texture is different, but it's filling, not hard to get used to, and satisfies craving. Many standard groceries carry them now in the Asian refrigerated section. Albertson's has them in stock with the tofu and other refrigerated Asian foods. Follow your doctor's recommendations to…

Portion creep also happens, even after a long time of weighing and measuring food. I weighed what I had "eyeballed" as the correct portion of cottage cheese and discovered I'd scooped out more than I'd realized. :-)

I'm just about at goal, but will track for the rest of my life because colitis has required me to figure out what decided to trigger a flare. Logging using an app has really helped educate my brain and eye for portions and calories.

I'd meet nutritional needs first and accept the lower deficit. I would not consider alcohol or sweetened beverages as nutritious enough. Yes I do recognize wine and beer have good things in them, but ..... If I want an alcoholic drink, I add the calories on TOP of my daily calorie goal. Same with sweets or other treats, or…

Try to find TrueLemon crystallized lemon, but not the one that comes in packets with sweetener. I love it on everything like potatoes, popcorn. I use it as salt substitute, or Cavenders salt free Greek Seasoning. The did Ranch dressing is good, too. Or learn to like the sweet flavor of air pop popcorn plain.

Maybe go back in on the website version, and check your settings?. I vaguely recall seeing a new option that would tell it to stop adjusting for burn. Mine is still doing the adjustment for burn, and I prefer it not. I have to do mental calculations to see if I'm on track. But I try the Pollyanna thing and remind myself…

Yes, the foods are quite different, so by all means check the label. When we lived in Canada (wonderful country!), there were several items I would buy in the States to carry back. Many of the Canadian versions seemed to be sweeter than the ones in the US. But then, when we go north, there are some things we stock up on…

Tapioca is my go to. Comforting.

I already always wore a watch, so I put mine on just above the watch, even though i don't need the watch any more. That way it doesn't get too low. It's reading the hr okay when i do exercise, even when it's down at the wrist bone. Maybe a bracelet to keep it above the wristbone?

April 5, only 5.1 miles. 30.2 total

April 4, 5.9 miles. Snow pretty, @speedyf glad it's not here, but Cali could have used it.
-
April 3 did 5.4 miles. Accidentally under reported the day before, but find competition makes me feel stressed, which is counterproductive. I only try to maintain daily distance.
-
Thank you for the welcome. Thank you soooo much for the spreadsheet. You are so kind. April 2, 6.7 miles according to fitbit. 13.8 total toward 150 mi.

Do we need to go back into Ticker Factory each time to update? Tips appreciated.
-
This is my first time 'round, and I'm following @grandmothercharlie 's lead to this site. I'm going for 150 miles this month, accumulated according to my fitbit. Now let's see if I got this ticker created correctly. Nope. Will keep trying. Did 7.11 miles April 1. Sharon

Whenever I try to unchecked the Don't track steps on my phone app, I just get the endlessly circling circle spinning. I miss seeing whether the steps did sync just before closing the diary.

When I messed up my shin while living in a developing country (infection) and was ordered to not even walk until it healed, I did moves while sitting. Look at Sit and be Fit.

What I like about Fitbit is the readouts directly on the device. Started with the One to track whether I was hitting the 10000 step goal, and liked that it also showed time, calories and sleep time. The Charge HR was my birthday gift, especially requested by me because I discovered my heartbeat elevates more walking…

I hit it if I'm going on a long walk so I can gauge what my hr is relative to speed and inclines of hills. INot certain, but i think it doesn't change anything in the overall diary, but creates a discrete record that can be liked over for hr, length, and calorie burn analysis. It does add the length of the event to the…

I've written mfp and asked them to show the steps count along with the calorie burn. On my android phone, the step count shows in the banner that displays total cals eaten, as well as the burn,; but on my tablet and computer, the count doesn't. Maybe if we start sending them the request, they'll make them consistent.

Non-step cardio can be entered. I find floor exercise and things like exercise bike can give a lot of burn, so I enter them to make sure I don't over exercise.
-
For me, the heart rate definitely affects the reported burn.

@kare5To put exercise in MFP, on phone app, click on + sign. Type in name of exercise (i. e .swimming, circuit, strength, etc.). It will generate calorie burn based on your BMI. On web app, click Exercise, search, select, follow through on time and so on. For exercise not in the database, enter the description (kettlebell,…

I've "given" a fitbit One to family member, and my data stayed the same when I activated my new device. Family member started from scratch on their newly-created account using the One I gave them.

I take a gander occadionally. :-) Fitbit user Sdtd , aka Sharon

As I recall, when I linked the accounts, there was a message from mfp that piped up telling me to enter workouts in mfp, and let fb handle the steps, as fb was better at that. And yes, I've also noticed fb assigns more calorie burn the faster you are moving. Very good observation, heybales.

Because this eat back calories thing was puzzling, and I couldn't find anything about it on reliable medical sites like the CDC, I went to the M.D. I trust most. I asked my Internist what to do about the "eat back calories burned through exercise" thing. His instruction is that I am to eat healthily to get vital nutrients,…
