It seems that a lot more than just steps isn't syncing properly right now though from Jawbone...
-
So in other words - eat what MFP goal is + UP adjustments. Got it ;)
-
Calories in vs calories out. Eat whatever fits in your goal and what you like.

First of all, good job getting started by signing up here and wanting to make a change! There's tons of advice and information available to you on this website. Make friends. Get advice. Have support. And go, go, go!

Looks like the bug is fixed, perhaps follow their suggestion and let it sync the backlog: https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1983451--jawbone-syncing-issues-fixed-6-3

It works fine for me now. It seems to have fixed itself on my end. I didn't do a thing re: disconnecting accounts or anything. I just left it alone and ignored it. Mind you, it shows the positive adjustment now since it's the end of the day. I'll have to see tomorrow if it shows the negative in the morning.

Lucky for me that I don't drink alcohol so that wasn't a problem for me. I swapped juice for water and I love it. I crave water now and it's good. Yeah, you pee a lot more, but your body will adapt slowly. I'd say if you're used to only say 5 cups a day, increase slowly. I wouldn't suggest going all out 8+ cups. It's hard…

After a quick look in the help section, it seems that there are users with this problem and it's popping up again today for more users. So it is something they are aware of and hopefully working on.
-
I didn't have this problem. Until today. And I have no idea why.

Now this is getting confusing. If the total UP burn is the TDEE, then what should I be eating? I have it set on Jawbone that I want to lose weight too so when I view food in the app, it shows me a 500 deficit still. Thus, shouldn't I be able to eat 1800 that MFP gives me and whatever positive adjustment UP gives me?
-
What an amazing transformation :)
-
I'd not survive on 1200 a day and I have no idea how others do it. Your body needs fuel. I'm on 1790 a day and losing no problem!
-
It makes sense. But I do eat a fair bit still. MFP has me at 1800 a day. Then I usually eat back about half of what MFP tells me I burned. Well, until I got the Jawbone. Now I suddenly have a lot extra each day where I'm perplexed as to eating them or not. I'm still moving the same amount as I used to, no change there,…

I do have negative calorie adjustments enabled, I saw that I should have that checked off in another thread. It seems that the calorie burns that it records are high though? I'm not sure how trustworthy they are. Ah well. Will play around and see if eating some, all, or none works. Thank you guys for your input :)

Plan out the whole week at a time, do it all in one day and then freeze stuff that needs to be. Then you don't have to spend so much time and effort each night planning out all your meals, they'll all be ready to go then you'll free up a lot of time for yourself during the week to do things that you want to do. As others…

Absolutely use the food scale, it's astounding how often our eyeball estimations can be wrong. That in itself can make a huge difference. In terms of what you're eating - try and balance the macros where possible and stay under your goal. You will see results if you use the site as it's intended. Don't get discouraged. You…

Fair enough. I appreciate your help, thank you :)

Makes sense. Do I need to put the Jawbone into Stopwatch mode if I plan on logging it on MFP? Or do I just leave it be and log it on MFP?
-
If you use a smartphone, you can scan the barcode on the package as well. Make sure that when you do that the entry that pops up is correct but usually it is with stuff I've used it for.
-
I recommend it all the time but most can't be bothered because it's too much effort. One girl just logs everything as one portion even though she is eating much more than that and can't figure out how she's not losing weight (she has indeed showed picture of her food, it is def more than what she logs). Heh. If people…

No need for comparison. You are both different people!

I exercise when I feel like it. Sometimes once or twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes not at all. I lost 50 lbs thus far, about another 60 lbs to go :)
-
I watch the occasional anime and I work at an anime convention each year running an RPG Cosplay battle with my bf :)
-
It does work if you log correctly.

Tare option <3 best thing ever.

MFP has been having issues for over a week now. I'm having an issue where I changed my goal for weight loss and my home page is up to date but my food diary is showing the old goal. Heh. It's on the web only, not even a device syncing issue. It's been reported, along with all FitBit and other device syncing things.…

Go by the packaging of what you are buying.

Love this. Best way to go about things. :)

I use GNC protein shakes in the morning because I start early, I'm not usually able to eat food for awhile when I wake up, I just simply don't want any, and I can't eat at my desk at work, thus I need something. They work for me for that. But if I had the way to have real food instead I could. But for my needs, these work…
