For the record I agree completely with this lol. It's just that in my experience women completely ignore me (a man), when I suggest they do a workout that seems to be 'geared towards men'...even though the same exact lifting strategy will work for either gender. This is why I've taken to suggesting the New Rules book. It…

While I disagree with some of the information presented in the New Rules book, it's still the best beginner resource for women who want to reap the rewards of heavy lifting. It eliminates the intimidation most women feel by giving them a program and guide built just for them (even though most of it is exactly what a guy…

Probably. I'd just be happy if she gave us an opportunity to enlighten her.

I don't think she'll bother. I find that most people that oppose short term fasting are ill informed to begin with, and often the type to base sweeping opinions on very little information. These people also rarely take the time to defend their commentary. Just out of curiosity, how is this easier to conform to than…

The first question is, how much are you actually losing a week? If the answer is 1lb or less, I'd say leave things alone. The number on MFP is a guess based on input which may or may not be accurate (usually the activity level input is the culprit for inaccuracy). If your losses are within a reasonable range, it may be…

Thank you! If you look at the bottom left picture (front facing) you can see the tie on my PJ pants is very loose. 90 days prior to that picture...it wasn't. That day was the last day I tied them, and they haven't been untied since. @justsomerandomgirl... WELL DONE!!

Well...hello :)

Ignore the BMI chart. Get a qualified person to measure your bodyfat...and use that as a gauge of your overall health. Lean mass is healthy. The only place that carrying any overabundance of lean mass can have a negative effect is joint inflamation...and trust me, it's going to be difficult at best for a woman to gain the…

Clearly you didn't read my post. I don't have 'massive amounts of muscle' and no one I know who is at a healthy bodyfat and is borderline obese does either. And trust me, that's not 'rare'. There are a crapload of us on my friends list alone, and I know a substantial amount of people in my day to day life that it doesn't…

I don't trust the BMI CHART...much less calculators. At my current weight (180lbs), I'm borderline obese. No...I'm not a bodybuilder, no...I'm not heavily muscled. I'm just a relatively strong for my size, average build guy...who's sitting at about 19% bodyfat. Give me a freakin break.

Really...? :flowerforyou:

My own results. 90 days of low rep bodyweight strength training, Eat-STOP-Eat, and a slight average caloric deficit for the week. The result was 40lbs of scale weight loss, and 8" off my waist total.

I KNEW I was the ugliest person on your list!!

Didn't we have this exact same discussion last week? I could swear you got a hundred cut and dry answers then. Cutting carbs isn't relevant to fat loss for the vast majority of people. The only exceptions are people with blood sugar issues.

www.leangains.com He fasts a bit differently than a 24hr fast, but I can promise you he's not breaking down lean mass. The above gentleman is Brad Pilon. He's the author of 'Eat-STOP-Eat', which is a book detailing the benefits of 24hr fasting 1-3x a week. I don't think he's suffering any loss of lean mass either.…

I could see how that might be awkward for some people on this site lol.

That's because I'm very good with Photoshop :).

It's ok, he's used to that.

I would pick someone who denigrated others ideas, but none of my friends would do that.

My friends list is pretty freakin hot. And I've got Jac as well...so I guess I win. Wait, what game were we playing again?
-
Can you eat an extra apple? How about 2-4tbsp of peanut butter? Add those two together and you've got an extra 500cal in your day. My protein shakes are about 500cal as well, and include nothing more than 2 scoops protein, 8oz 2% milk (the 2% is for flavor, you could use whole milk for more calories), 1 mint oreo cookie,…

The descriptions are what is lacking. I only work out 3x a week, zero cardio. I have a fairly active job though, but none of the descriptions take that into consideration (other than the one that says 'very active job and works out 5x a week' :noway:). So I set myself at moderately active and ate back my workout calories.…

Guilty.

First...you're overthinking the protein timing and type. For your goals...just get it in anywhere in the day you can. You'll be fine...I promise. For the calorie target questions, are you eating back the workout calories? Is the 1500-1700 net or total intake? Either way, in my opinion...it's far too low for your age,…

Or maybe you need to stop placing your judgments on others. In order to 'eat clean' I would have to shun most social functions with family and friends, completely reorder my life in a very unrealistic way due to my schedule, and otherwise obsess over something I'm simply not willing to obsess over. You bet that'd have an…

I've been using this method for a number of years. I've found it highly ineffective for fat loss...although it did seem to help with bloating. Go figure.
-
Erm...nope.

Roughly 90 days, eating at about an average 300-500cal/day deficit, performing heavy bodyweight lifts 3x a week, zero cardio:

Wow, me too.
