Avoid sugar, processed food, and starchy veg. Dairy too (for most people) unless it's fresh grass fed. The nutrient density of your food is also important. Lots of mixed greens, lean protein (or clean organic plant sourced protein if you're a veggie head), a variety of non starchy veg is important to keep your appetite in…

Organic beans, a splash of almond milk, and pure stevia extract. Next to no calories or carbs. I use my espresso machine at home ( and work as I'm a barista) to make almond milk cappuccinos sometimes and they're amazing. The cappuccinos or lattes with almond milk are 30 calories and 1 total carb.

Make sure you're NOT eating back your calories if you log your activity. This is why i don't log exercise. Eating back the calories you burned during exercise is counterproductive and can lead to stalls in weight loss very quickly.

258!! 31 lbs down since January 1st. >:)

oh! and cooking oils!!!! use a measuring spoon when you're cooking with them or adding them to food. 1tbsp of olive oil is 140 calories. If you're just throwing some in the pan, you could be way off!

cellery stalks with McCormic lemon pepper spice sprinkled on it (make sure the celery is damp). Literally .6 net carbs and around 20 calories for three big stalks (3oz). Or celery with natural peanut butter on it.

What about swimming? It's fun and super low impact. Don't underestimate the elliptical either. those things will kick your *kitten*.

went for a long walk around the neighborhood and ran around the yard with the kids. my butt muscles are killing me. trudging through 16 inches (when our max snowfall here is usually 4 to 6) is brutal.

272... that's 8lbs so far! B)

What is your daily net carb intake? Have you tried reducing carbohydrates? Not all of them, just your starchy veggies and grains. Staying below 20g NET carbs a day eliminated my polycystic ovarian syndrome and reflux. The weight loss bonus is nice too. The energy boost from fat based diets instead of carb based diets is…

This is strange. Today I got up and broke down the living room, organized all the kids toys, made a salvation army bag, and cleaned the room (and dining room) from top to bottom. Then I got on the computer and was browsing MFP groups and joined this one. Turns out the first challenge is something I did already. So yeah! I…

280, nothing lost yet. Two days late, but I thought I should post. I finally caved and bought a scale Monday. It was higher than I thought. I swore I would never be this big. I weigh more now than I did when I was pregnant 6 years ago by 15lbs. Not only did I gain the weight back that I lost last winter-spring, but 25…

The first time i did keto (similar to atkins), i got keto flu pretty bad. Sugar free powerade really helps in a pinch. You can even get it in concentrate bottles (like that mio stuff) so it's easier to carry around. I wouldn't recommend using it too often because it IS a processed food, but it can help in the first weeks.…

I think they're hugely important. But remember, they're ratios. Look at how balanced your ratios are for the day instead of calories. Eating a whole bunch of food you aren't necessarily hungry for at the end of the day just to balance your macros could be counter productive. I agree wholeheartedly with meal planning. What…

It's as boring as you let it be. You can do quite a lot with the right spices and combinations. Tonight, i had a 6 oz salmon filet, fresh green beans cooked in the salmon drippings (omg so damn good) with a few sliced almonds, and a cilantro, tomatillo, and cucumber salad tossed in apple cider vinegar. Not boring in the…

Honestly, doesn't make you fat necessarily. It's your sugar/carbs. Check out this video https://youtu.be/h6aMN6NLOTQ If your carbs are too high you produce more insulin, which causes your sugars and carbs to be stored as fat. Try a %60 fat, %25 protein, %15 carb macro for two weeks and you'll see a major difference.

Hi! I'm Genesis (genesis530 on grr) I'm 28f from Brevard NC in the Smokey Mountains, recently moved here for Charlotte. I *thought* moving to a great hiking area would help the weight fall off, but it rains all the damn time and I had to quit my job to move here (husband's company relocated). So if course I gained instead…
