Is it too late to join this challenge? :flowerforyou: I read that some people haven't been fully involved and will be removed so can I have one of their places?? I realise this is akin to 'jumping in someone's grave' but given that it is a Twilight challenge, that's probably not a problem  I'll read through the whole…

Loving this thread  I have two whippets (litter mate brothers) and a rescue sighthound who we think is whippet/ greyhound with some saluki thrown in - we'll never really know as she was a stray and we adopted her from the pound last August. All three together: Emmy and Roscoe: Grover at about 16 weeks: The boys as…

I think the 'competition' comments are spot on. As a student at school and college the vast majority of my friends were male, gay and straight. Of course, this made women even more *****y as they assumed I was some kinda slut which i wasn't. I had nothing in common with the girls at school and just did't like them -I…

If you are tired all the time you must be missing out on something or doing too much exercise. I started at 186lbs three weeks ago and am now 179 but I couldn't survive on 1000 calories - I'd be doomed to failure as I would feel hungry and deprived. MFP suggested 1200 and I DO eat back my exercise calories so with…

Just found this thread. I just did Wk1Day1 of C25K with one of my whippets and he loved it. He's used to walking in a harness anyway. Although all three of mine get the same food and exercise, one of them tends to put weight on very easily and is a little over what he should weigh so he will be my running buddy.…

Hi, I had arrythmia as a direct result of stress at work. I didn't know what it was, I'd just getting really hard and fast heart beats (I could hear my own pulse in my ears when I lay down!) a few times a day for no apparent reason and then occasionally I'd be sitting down and I'd get a HUGE painful thump in my chest, as…

Also, going 'well under' your calories can be very counter productive. Make sure you are eating back your exercise calories, drinking water. Your body probably thinks it needs to hang on to what it's got as you have lost a lot of weight very quickly.

Are you going to Download?!?

When I was at University many years ago I shared an apartment with two other girls. After a while we kinda drifted apart and I moved out but there were no hard feelings (or so I thought) So last year their names came up on fb via a mutual friend and I thought 'What the heck' and friend requested them. One of them accepted…

Hello Shannon:smile: Welcome to MFP. I've only been on here for three weeks but find it very supportive and motivating (and it works!) Wishing you luck all the way from England :flowerforyou:

I was walking anyway before I started tracking my calories as I have three dogs to exercise. I've simply put a bit more effort into my walking! I walk for at least 90 minutes a day at a brisk pace and this is how I burn most of my exercise calories. I also do Kinect Dance Central and Your Shape Fitness Evolved for about 30…

You definitely get used to eating smaller meals very quickly. On the plus side, you tend to enjoy your food more, eat more slowly and really taste it instead of just stuffing it down without thinking. The best way to not feel hungry is to drink lots of water and do exercise so you can eat the calories back. I would…

I know what the OP was getting at but I find the question itself very 'American' When I lived in the US 20 years ago I met a a few people who to me were 'American' but when asked would always describe themselves as Irish. They were from New York with NY accents and so were their parents. I think maybe Grandpa was…

You definitely need to be eating your exercise calories - your body will be going into starvation mode with those figures and you will get ill. I lost 4lbs in the first ten days but I did the eat the exercise calories back. Rather than guessing, find similar exercises on the database to work out what you are using, and…

I don't know a lot about this diet but would be concerned about losing so much weight so quickly - surely if you were quite heavy to start with, you would end up with skin elasticity problems as your skin wouldn't reduce as fast as the weight is going?

I've only been doing this for 10 days and the whole thing is quite a novelty for me still. I'm sure I may get bored but there's a competitive side of me that thinks 'YES!!' when I log my food and exercise and I'm under. It makes me feel in control in a way I haven't felt in terms of food and exercise before. The way I see…

If you eat 1200 calories and then burn another 200 your body will go into starvaton mode and will not use up your fat reserves - so you won't lose weight effectively. You should really eat your exercise calories. I've been doing this for a week (only joined last Thursday) and not only have I lost weight, I also think it's…

Hi Cara We have almost identical start and goal weights and height and I have only been here for a week so please add me as a friend if you'd like some support  :flowerforyou:

Thank you so much for taking the time for these replies, everyone  I will definitely carry on with Kinect (gotta get my money's worth at least!). I have ordered Dance Central already:laugh: Also glad you mentioned the calorie counter - I did 40 minutes of cardio boxing this morning and it said 77 calories used which…

rydn4h2o! You are kinda my twin! Female, aged 40, SW - 186 CW - 183 GW - 150 (that's the important one, many people seem to be aiming for lower but I think I would look silly much lower than that and would totally look like a boy ..!) Add me if you want

A few reasons.. Saying no to going swimming with my son because I couldn't imagine being in public my swimming gear. Thinking I looked ok standing up but then catching sight of myself in the mirror sitting on the edge of my bed - and there were just fat rolls everywhere. I look like one of those KONG dog toys.. Untagging…

I'm not an expert having only just joined but I would say you need to do two things: vary your exercise and address the food thing. Your body will have got used to doing the same exercise every day and it just won't be as effective so try something different. Also, it's not that the plan isn't working ...if you are not the…

Thanks! I've sent you a message. Gradually working out how to find my way around the site! Love your profile pic - I'm a big sighthound fan :)

Thank-you, ladies. Took me a few minutes to work out how to accept your friend requests...this bit is harder than the food and exercise bit haha. Will pm you when I work that bit out as well :ohwell:
