  • Hello everyone. I've been vegan for a year or so after being vegetarian for 30 years (with a couple of blips when I had my sons :( ) Back on mfp after a long and fattening absence. Happy to add veggie/ vegan friends. Most of the friends I had the first time around have not logged on for years, like me! I'm a teacher and…

  • Been veggie for decades and vegan now. A few tips! (1) recognise the genuine addictive qualities of cheese. I spent the first couple of months looking for a decent vegan cheese (they always disappointed!) but a chance conversation with a woman at a food show taught me that cheese is actually addictive and it's not the…
  • I started SW a month ago and have lost 7lbs - would have been more but I had 2 party weekends haha. My friend who joined with me has lost 16 lbs. I never in a million years would have thought I'd be doing SW - I'm just not a 'joiner' normally, but I love it! Edited to add: I know my ticker says 4lbs but that's cos I didn't…
  • I got it spot on as well. Not over-confident, just realistic about exactly where my thighs meet
  • Thanks for taking the time to reply. It wasn't aimed at you specifically, I just see so many of this type of post on here and struggle to understand why. Maybe because I'm from the UK and we don't seem to have the culture of addiction to soda/ flavoured drinks that the people responding from the US seem to have - at least…
  • The suggestion that most liquids count and it doesn't have to be plain water is a good one. However (and this may not be popular or helpful) I find it hard to muster up sympathy for people who say they 'struggle' to drink pure, unpolluted water from a tap or bottle when 3.4 million people die every year in developing…
  • Try feeding them in separate rooms twice a day. Remove any food that isn't eaten in 20 minutes before you let them see each other again. Don't leave food out where they can fight over it :) My three aren't food aggressive over regular food, but I always feed them in separate rooms anyway.
  • Gorgeous dogs! Good to see a lab at a proper weight. So many labs are overweight that people think it's normal, and when they see a healthy one they think it's too skinny!
  • Mine aren't overweight (and yes, you can get fat whippets, I've seen them!) but my uncle rescued a dog and spoiled her so much she is overweight. After a few times being tactful, last time I saw him I told her he was knocking years off her life - killing her with kindness. He took it quite well, but my dad saw the dog last…
  • Humans have a conscience for a reason too :flowerforyou:
  • The BBC is commercial free (their radio stations and tv channels do not carry any adverts and they don't have product placement within shows.) They are paid for by a license fee that is compulsory to pay if you own a TV over here. We expect good programming and impartiality in return. Not always possible in the real world,…
  • Think about why you became vegetarian. The animal welfare issues haven't changed. The animals you eat (unless you raise them yourself or buy very carefully) still are pumped full of antibiotics and live drastically reduced life spans in often awful conditions. And as for the abbatoirs? *shudder* Edited to add: my brother…
  • Ten minutes ago I did not know who Kate Upton was. Now I do. The issue (if there is one) is not about people being pandered to, or comforted. The girl is freakin' gorgeous. She's hot. Men (and women) find her incredibly sexually attractive. She looks healthy. She looks fertile. That's what we are programmed to see as…
  • Haha, my husband is the same.
  • I think going from 170 to 169 will be my 'eureka' moment, having hovered in the 70s and 80s for far, far too long. I share your sense of joy at that milestone! Well done!:flowerforyou:
  • This means you can't listen to anyone, because everyone has an accent of some kind....you can't speak without an accent
  • South Wales accent is great! I lived in Swansea for four years and now can't even say the word 'Swansea' without coming over all Welsh. I have relatives in Swansea/ Cardiff/ Ogmore so the accent is very welcoming to me. Now North Wales type accents? - sorry for anyone here from that area but it sounds to me like people are…
  • QFT A woman does not have much control over the size of her breasts. This inequality (when compared to a deliberately worked bicep) is a problem as much for the women who have small ones as large ones. Why should one person be ignored and another leered at or complimented, for something over which they have no control? I…
  • I have it as I'm vegetarian and have started weightlifting - when I looked at my macros my protein was well under. I did research to make sure I didn't get horrible tasting stuff! I got Optimum Nutrition Gold 100%Whey in Double Chocolate. I mix it with just over 200mls of semi skimmed milk and love it! Just tastes like a…
  • I'm not here for help with my food so it's no-one's business but mine. Why do you need to know? Not even my friends can see my diary. As others have said, you can be more honest if no-one else is looking. I've had food issues related to taste/ textures since I was small and although I eat a more varied diet now, food is…
  • The way to get your head around drinking pure crystal clear water is to remember all the people in the world who risk their lives every day because all they have to drink is disease ridden fetid puddle water. That realisation will make your water taste sweet as. Also, you need to drink beer and wine.
  • Amanda Harris is a world record holding lifter and has scoliosis if you want to find out more about her?

  • Edited to delete because I can't be arsed :smokin:
  • The only thing people seem to have against them is that they look like dog leads. So it's all about appearances. I just think that is pretty shallow and people should get over that and stop sneering at those of us who decided to use what in the end are a simple safety tool, not some form of torture. No-one is making you…
  • Protein shake if your protein intake isn't high enough. Makes a world of difference. Drink plenty of water and make sure you do some kind of stretch/ warm up before and stretch after :)
  • Still none of the harness haters answering the stairgate question? Should your kids just learn not to fall down stairs and should you not just be watching them more carefully? Why do people fasten their children into strollers? Surely they should not be so lazy, just plonk the child in and hope they don't get out? Or have…
  • And it's not about kids being naughty, or parents being lazy, or parents not having enough discipline. Children are by nature impulsive little creatures. They all get told not to run out into the street but I bet everyone has tried it at least once. Thay all go through developmental stages where they don't think before…
  • Why do people have stairgates then? Shouldn't they just pay more attention? Everyone who has stairgates is lazy or not paying enough attention to their child? Seriously. These arguments don't hold water.
  • If you want something modest you can buy surf shorts to go over bikini bottoms and wear a tankini top or a rash vest :) Surf shorts fit loosely like regular shorts so don't cling. I wear a sport style adidas one piece to the gym (nice subdued lighting haha) but when I go on holiday in July and will be wandering around the…
