Congrats! Keep up the good work!!!

Hi all. After a week of being ill, I am back in the saddle again. I have overindulged this summer to the point of ridiculous. Ugh. My body finally started reacting to those poor eating choices and I had a tough week. But, it was a good wake-up call. I ordered three cookbooks to keep me motivated to try new things, although…

Mihani, thank you for the suggestions - especially easing back into bean consumption. Growing up, beans were a staple in my family and I don't recall gas being a concern. Having a big salad with non-ETL meals will be an excellent way to keep on track. Thanks much!

Hi all - Just wanted to check in with you and see what you've been up to. I've had a busy few weeks with planning and having our daughter's graduation celebration (it was never a big deal in the region where I grew up, but it's a "thing" where we live now). We had a lovely day with about 80 guests. It has been my plan to…

I'm grilling a portabella mushroom for dinner this evening and serving with a big salad. I may wrap the mushroom in a whole wheat tortilla. Haven't decided yet. I picked up some more Kashi cereal today as I was getting bored with oatmeal. While at the store I grabbed some organic frozen fruit bars. When I got home I saw…

Hello all, I feel like I keep slinking back here with long gaps in between. Lots of ups and downs recently. Right now, I don't want to be "all in" with ETL (or McDougall or Esselstyn), however, keeping a foot in both camps (WFPB and non-WFPB) means slow progress. I'm learning to be kind to myself and discover what I like…

I was just given an electric pressure cooker (not an Instant Pot brand) by my 91 year old father-in-law. He'd had it for 2 years and had never tried using it. It was still in it's packaging. So far, we can't get it to work right. My husband's very savvy mechanically so if he can't get it to work, no one could. We've only…

I tried tossing air popped corn in nutritional yeast today. I liked it! I haven't cared for "nooch" in other recipes, but it adds a nice flavor to popcorn. I over did it, though, so I'll eat a very light supper. Hope you all have a good evening!

It's been a good day in spite of a poor night's sleep. Got a 2 mile walk in (at the mall, so no jogging) and ate well, with one intentional "splurge." I chose to put shredded cheese on my bean taco. Yeah, guess what? I could not taste it. At all. Glad I know! Won't need to do it again. A splurge isn't a splurge if you…

A good day - back on track and the sun is shining! Had coffee at a friend's this morning and said "no thanks" to the cookie. Proud moment  Wow! Your yarns are lovely, Karrie and Carla! A friend of mine just took up spinning this past year and is totally hooked. Love her stuff. Makes me want to learn how to crochet…

I'm having an off day - maybe it's that fresh foot of snow outside our living room window! Breakfast was on track. Lunch - not so much. I ate what I prepared for the family and as usual I'm feeling it in my gut. I'll have a healthy snack for dinner and be back to it tomorrow. I'm down 1.8 lbs this week so even though lunch…

Hi everyone! We are in day 2 of an on-again-off-again-blizzard. Lia & Carla, I wonder if it's the same storm system that's giving you rain? Yesterday was movies & popcorn & cuddling with Tucker (bichon-poo). Oh, and my 21 year old asked if he could take me to breakfast (oatmeal!) before the storm hit. A rare treat to have…

Good morning all! Thanks for your input on your food supply - very helpful and I now realize I'm well on track. Donna, your bike tour sounds fun! My old 10-speed bike was not a good fit (back issues), so WJ (husband) surprised me with a retro bicycle. It's cute, but no gears, so hills are a no-go for this old bod. [me: No…

Great list, Mihani, thank you! I didn't think about canned mushrooms! I have been considering dried mushrooms but canned would be even quicker. I have everything else on your list. Woot! Donna, I wanted to thank you for your post on April 6th. I get impatient with weight loss "programs" and I need to remember that this is…

Carla, congratulations on Onederland! It's a fantastic milestone! Thanks for the recommendation about juice. Great idea! Donna, hope your body clock gets reset soon and glad those cookies are out the door! Karrie, I've lost a post more than once - all those words lost in cyberworld! It's frustrating for sure. liapr, it's…

Mihani, congratulations on a job well done! Carla, your menu sounds amazing! The weekend is going well. Having eaten too many refined carbs, etc, for a couple weeks I’m finding that I’m “hungry” a lot right now. I know it’s a hump I’ll get over, though.

Hi all. I'm still in the midst of catching up with all the posts. I haven't checked in for a couple weeks nor have I been eating well (I think I fessed up about this a couple weeks ago and then jumped right back off the band wagon again). Last night I was eating cheese laden pizza with the family and took one look at my…

..oh! Forgot to share exciting news. I'm signed up for my first 5K! Daughter and I will be joining friends (walking, not running). There will be several in our area now that Spring is here, but I'm also looking at participating in upcoming volksmarches if my hip can handle the longer walk - they are typically 10K.

Karrie, your Quinoa salad sounds very good. Thanks for sharing the recipe! Mihani, I feel your pain. I've been limping around this week after trying to put air in my tire during a sleet/snow storm. I was probably hunched down in a squat position for all of 5 minutes, but it was freezing cold so my thigh muscles were not…

Mihani, I love Jill McKeever! She’s so down to earth and so FUN! Sometimes I watch her videos just for fun! Today’s lunch. So good! I threw together leftover sweet potato, diced Field Roast sausage, kale (microwaved all this), topped with avocado and green onions. Yum!

Hi all - I took a hiatus from sanity this past week, but I'm back now. ;) I had a major week of stress and, true to old habits, ate poorly in the midst of it. There's good news though! I was miserable. The SAD made me feel miserable. I didn't enjoy one bit of the food I was eating! I prepped a lot of food this weekend to…

Off topic funny: I love to watch a WFPB vlogger on youtube who is about 50 years old (or soon to be). She gives great recipes and is so.much.fun. to watch. Full of joy and energy. And she regularly wears bunny ears (attached to a headband). :D She loves to dance in her kitchen while she cooks. Some days, if I need a…

Thank you, Karrie! I'm going to work on this today at the track.

Search for some T-Tapp videos on the internet. You will probably find some short clips that you can use rather than buying a full DVD (though you might want a full DVD). Teresa Tapp's low impact moves build core strength very quickly. You will feel results within the first week. Search for: T-Tapp primary back stretch,…

Yesterday (Monday) was a survival day. I did not get veggies prepped over the weekend and had a hectic day with little time for building a salad so I ate leftover beans on pita bread for two meals and grazed on grape tomatoes & fresh fruit and had a Larabar while I was out for the afternoon (which means I did NOT go…

Karrie, thanks for the walking tips! I've been walking 4-5 days per week since late December and building stamina. With short legs, it seems like it would be easier to jog rather than walk so maybe I'll add some intermittent jogging and see how it goes. (It can be difficult to walk w/a fast pace with short legs!) Mihani,…

Okay, so I added some turkey sausage to this, but it didn't need it. So, so good! I tweaked it a bit. I added mushrooms and omited the chickpeas and peas (which I didn't have). I also did not have ingredients for the "sour cream". Here is the link:…

So, I couldn't sleep last night and at 11:30 my stomach was growling so much it hurt. I should have gotten up and had a spoonful of peanut butter or something as sleep was restless when it finally came. So, today was a zombie-day. I took a short midday nap and was ready for a walk this afternoon. Outside!!! In Minnesota!!!…

Hurray for the new car, Carla! No more musical chairs with vehicles! Did you enjoy your shepherd's pie? Karrie, great workout on the treadmill! Mihani - nice menu today. I have not attempted chard of any kind yet. But I love "massaged" kale! I had a good day beginning a long, slow (major) decluttering project. Lots of…

Welcome to my NO ADDED SUGAR day! I have been on a bad run of craving sugar but today is the day that I say no. That is all.
