A good friend of mine is a pet nutrtion blogger (Rodney Habib) who has been working with a place called Ketopets on a documentary regarding fighting cancer in pets using the keto diet. He was sent an early release copy of the book & let me have a peek at it. From what I saw its great, an easy read, not super sciency and…

I'm in Canada and ordered a breathalyzer off of Amazon.ca but it doesn't measure ketones. Wasted 20 bucks. Are there any Canadians that have found one that does work or a cheap source for ketone strips? I have a precison Xtra machine but the strips are about $30 for 10.

Thank you both for the replies! I posted this a few days ago & since then have been doing a lot of reading & I have to say @Sunny_Bunny_ you really get it! Thank you for passing on info that really is easy to understand and spot on for me! I have been literally having the preverbal light bulb moments a few times this week…

After doing keto (or at least lchf) for 20 years and only losing an initial 20lbs of 80 that I needed to lose I gave up on keto & moved to a low fat low carb, prepackaged food program. I managed to lose 40lbs but want to return to a healthier, natural diet, so I'm back to keto & finding this graphic is like a huge light…

I'm going to try this! Sounds good!

This makes so much sense to me! THank you!!! Every time I've adjusted my calories or fat in the past I let it adjust the other things across the board. I finally understand what you're saying about keeping the protein firm and adjust the fat!

Today is my 96th day and I've hit the 40lbs mark, thats just under 0.5 a day average. I'm thrilled with that!!
-
I missed my wine a lot at first too. But stick to the program, you won't regret it! I've lost 40lbs since Oct 13th. I'm very happy with the program. Feel free to add me if you like, I track my food daily.

I don't think there are specific numbers but I try to keep mine under about 35 net carbs. I find days where I have 2 sweet items or a higher carb veggie, my weight loss is slower. I try to limit my sweet treats to 1 a day.

Thanks! I'll check it out for sure. I have a friend doing IP who is constantly making excuses for not eating properly or drinking her water etc, saying she is too busy or water makes her go to the bathroom too much at work, that sort of stuff. If you really want this you will find a way to work it. Excuses are what got me…

Hi everyone!! I started Oct 13 (the day after my 50th birthday) and have lost 27.5 lbs so far. Love IP!! For everyone missing fruit have you tried Chayote squash?? I found them at walmart & if you slice them up & simmer them (or steam them) with some Walden Farms caramel dip, apple butter & cinnamon you get what tastes…

@marise51 Yes I do have her cookbook & I'm part of her fb page as well. I've been making the Mac & Cheeseburger pie a lot. its soooo yummy and reheats really well. Great for work.

I started on October 13th (the day after my 50th birthday!) and I've lost 19lbs so far. I love IP!! Its so easy & I really like the foods. It is expensive (I'm averaging about $100 a week) but its my gift to me! I usually save to go away in the spring. I'll skip that this year & next year go away with a slim, healthy body!…

Thank you @ocstace I'm going to try that this work rotation and see how it goes. The only good thing about eating the big meal at the end of the day is that it really does cut out the night time snacking. lol I asked my coach about it yesterday at my weigh in and she didn't see any problem with doing that either. She even…

Today is day 9 for me, I'm down 11 lbs. Love the first week weigh in! lol
-
Oh and I forgot Mayo & cream for my coffee! I've actually switched to tea which I can handle with a bit of the vanilla drink in. I had my first weigh in yesterday and lost 11 lbs!!! My coach was shocked! So was I to be honest. I certainly don't feel like I lost that much. Apparently my body likes not having dairy. :D

Hi there, I'm new to IP (day 4 today) and I've come from 2 years of eating low carb/high fat and tracking my macros so adjusting to the daily numbers I'm getting with this program has been a challenge for me. Today my net carbs was 43 which is double what I'm used to. I have to say I'm really enjoying this so far, its nice…

I'm not on the boards often and just dropped in today and saw this. I have them too!!! all over my abdomon, especially from my braline to my belly button. I've been eating this way for about 2 years and have had them the whole time. THey aren't itchy or anything so I never really worried about them but now you've got me…

Whatever they use on the biggest loser, vivofit? I think, thats waterproof because they go in the pool with it all the time

I have wanted to run for years but just don't have the stamina or leg strength to run. I highly recommend the Zen Labs C25k app, its awesome and I also recommend doing low impact workout videos that concentrate on cardio & lower body. I've been doing one for the last 3 weeks and last night I ran on the treadmill. it wasn't…

THanks for sharing but I can't see a link to get 2 free bars. Am I missing something?

I emailed MFP & they said at this time it is only open to the residents of the US but they are hoping to open it up to other countries soon.

I followed keto for almost 2 years & my cycle went from twice a year (if I was lucky) to every 28 days, like clock work. For the last month I've gone back to eating carbs (stressed out & needed a break) and I'm already 3 days late and feel like utter crap! I'll be going back to keto (or at least very low carb) very soon.

I did my very first 5k on dec 28th on the treadmill. I had signed up for a virtual 5k that had to be done by the end of the month. I had been putting it off because I have bursitis in my knee and haven't been able to run at all. I got it done though, but it wasn't pretty. 1 hour,7 minutes. but I'm still proud of myself!

I'm in the same boat, being Canadian I can't join either. I have to say that really ticks me off! I've been a faithful mfper for years, have a 650 day streak right now and love to interact with friends & love challenges, having things like this only open to Americans is not fair to the rest of us.

I agree with Knitormiss about the malitol, its evil, evil stuff! I've found that I can tolerate stevia or Erythritol fine and will subtract them but any other sugar alcohols I don't. To be honest I've been struggling lately with losing weight & even getting my keto numbers up so I've been toying with going with full carbs…

I've been off track for a while. Struggled with a bout of pneumonia & then some really hot humid weather here through september. Now that my breathing is feeling better and its cooler in the house I'm going to start again on the treadmill through the winter months. My ankles have been an issue since I was a kid. I have an…

Thank you. I've been eating this way since Feb 2014 and initially lost weight steadily. Got close to 40lbs lost, when I stalled. I tried everything, changed macros, upped fat, cut dairy, almond flour/coconut flour etc, you name it. THen on vacation back in April I went totally off the wagon and gained 10 lbs, and have…

I can get into ketosis without much effort, but never deep ketosis, usually just one 1 on the blood meter, but I cannot get fully adapted. I never get that energy rush that people talk about. Its frustrating.

This is TOTALLY what I need to get my head around!! I have mastered the lchf eating, I have no issue eating under 15g of carbs a day and often hit 80% fat, so that I can do, but teaching myself to understand hunger over habit is the hard part. Eating at specific times because thats the conventional 'meal time' doesn't work…
