Getting laid off 2 years ago jumpstarted my weight loss as well - I couldn't fit into any of my interview clothes, didn't have the cash to buy new ones, didn't have the cash to be going to happy hour 3-4 nights a week with coworkers....I dropped 10# in 3-4 mos! On the job thing - I'm really sorry. I know how hard it is out…

That's absolutely fantastic!!! I <3 CAbi clothes, and I'm sure you'll look AMAZING tonight :)

I walk my dog as my main source of excercise... Here in Dallas there's a store called Luke's Locker that I go to for shoes. Your sales person makes you walk back and forth barefoot in front of them so they can see what weird things your feet do (if you need arch support, or not, or whatever), and then they bring you…

I've found that having the occasional (not more than once every 10-14 days) screwup actually helps me lose weight. My body is all, WTH is going on here?!? And I drop a pound after having stayed the same for a couple of weeks.

For me, lowering my carb intake at night helped to remove that evil tire, somewhat..... I don't do a low/no carb diet by any means - I just rearrange when I eat them. Drink LOTS of water. Also, this is a vicious excercise if you can pull it off, just do not hurt yourself!…

I still sleep with a stuffed animal (sometimes) - a pillow pet dragon. I own a house and have an entire "art room" so that I can make as big a mess with my projects as I want. My most favorite meal is the same one since I was like 8: Turkey and cheddar cheese sammich on Mrs. Baird's bread, cheetos, a coke, and 3 chips ahoy…

My shopping list for this week: chicken (the bags individually flash frozen boneless skinless) some sort of pork or red meat - whatever is on sale lettuce mushrooms whatever produce looks good to me that day, usually squash or green beans Special K crackers laughing cow cheese ronzoni smart taste pasta canned diced…

I don't know anything about 30DS, but there's a program called Hundred Pushup Challenge (google it) and it's a 6 wk program to get you to be able to do 100 consecutive pushups. I went all the way through week 5 doing girlies, and then went on vacation. My intention is to build up the muscles to do 100 girlies, and then…

LMAO - this is awesome. Keep at it though - it really, REALLY does get easier!!!

I'm really sorry that happened - you're not gross at all!! I'm enough of an *kitten* I would've made a rude comment back to the kid and probably to the Dad as well. Yes, kids have no filters. But parents are supposed to help add a filter here and there. My parents would've given me The Look, made me apologize to the…

I haven't found that eating carbs slows me down, but rather when I eat them. Maybe it's just me being weird, I dunno....But if I try to make dinner the lowest carb meal of the day (as in a pc of bread w/ dinner instead of noodle-based dishes), I've noticed I feel better and lose inches faster.

I've found that sticking to a 1360/day plan (aiming to lose 1#/week instead of more) is way more achievable for me personally. I'm still losing weight at pretty much the same rate as before, and I don't have that terrible sinking feeling right after breakfast of, "Oh crap - now what am I going to be able to eat?" My diary…

Way to go - you're amazing :flowerforyou:

Random thoughts, in no particular order. Also, I know NOTHING about Napa, so I apologize in advance if some of these aren't applicable: Go check out meetup.com....they have groups for EVERYTHING. I joined one when I got a mastiff puppy for - you guessed it! - other mastiff owners. Do you live in a house or an apartment?…

That's really cool! I wish more companies would do that - you could make your HR person your MFP friend, and they could track your info really easily :)

Born and raised in Texas....if I ever leave it will be for an island somewhere
-
It might help you to just track your calories for a week or so to see what "normal" is for you, and THEN try to change your diet to stay within the recommended limit. I've found making too many changes at once = failure for me. Tracking your normal for a week will also let you know when you get hungry, so you can plan for…

I think it's super cute short....also, don't you want to be able to spend that 300 on your vacation? Have fun!!

I agree w/ OP....the BBQ ones are AWWWESOME. Love love love :D Also Special K Cracker Chips in sour cream and onion are good too - they're like a fluffier pringle, and super low cal.
-
I agree w/ previous posters on pre-measuring your snackies! For crackers and chips, check out Special K items... their version of a wheat thin is 120 cals fo 27 crackers, and they have some "cracker chips" that are like a thicker, fluffier pringle. Also Kettle brand makes a baked kettle-style chip (the super thick crunchy…

As a very general rule, it seems to work. One suggestion I saw a while back (and stole) was to copy and paste this info into your food notes, 5 weeks from today. That way, when you get to 5 weeks from today, you can see if it's right or not. I remember seeing the numbers I'm at now on the "in 5 weeks" blurb a while back,…

OMG you made me want roasted potatoes....plugging my herbed roasted potatoes into the recipe doo-bob to see how far I have to run/walk this evening to have them :D
-
I have about 400 cal left for dinner so I'm probably going to do stuffed chicken w/ a salad on the side. I read someone's idea here to cook w/ laughing cow cheese, and it's AMAZING. 1 chicken breast + 1 wedge of tomato basil cheese + fresh chopped basil = awesome!!

Since starting MFP, I've tried really hard to not eat after 8:00 (I get home from work at 6:30 or so and go to bed between 11:30 and midnight). I don't know that it's made a huge difference, but I sleep much better if I haven't eaten in a few hours. I've noticed that if I eat a heavy restaurant meal (like I used to) any…

This is going to sound odd, but when I was doing the 100 pushup challenge, I started to notice a difference in my waistline.

I usually spend about $150 (US) every 2 weeks for my hubby and I. However, that also includes the random household products like TP, laundry detergent, etc.... I just haven't taken the time to break out what I'm spending on food vs. house stuff. Note: we don't eat as much fresh produce as we should.

When I wanted something back in high school, and I was being a spoiled brat, my Dad would tell me, "*kitten* in one hand and want in the other, and see which one fills up faster."

Regular white vinegar will take the sting out of the sunburn. The smell really does fade after about 15 minutes or so. Also, go to a tanning salon (like palm beach tan) and but some tan extender lotion. It will help keep you from peeling. Aloe always makes me peel like a snake :( I can't offer any advice on the weight…

I call my self the @$$-less wonder for my lack of tush....The only time I have ever had anything resembling a booty was when I was doing the elipitical (sp??) for 30-45 min at a time, 3x per week. I don't know if it gave me a booty or if it just work all the extra fluff off the rest of my backside so that my booty showed.
