If you can afford a trainer, even for a few sessions, get one. This will have two benefits: learning form and setting up a program. I also recommend kettlebells. Heavy ones, not the 5 lb ones that come with DVDs. :) I do some of my lifts with them as well as the various swings.

Try searching for "hair types" and you'll get some pictures. It's just some categorization system for straight/wavy/curly/kinky.
-
Has anyone done this successfully with super fine ~2A hair? When I broke my arm I slacked on my hair products (wasn't going to work, didn't care about looks or smell), but it got tangled and horrible because I also couldn't brush it well. Also, how do you get chlorine out?

Yeah, anything under your TDEE would be a deficit and, therefore, lead to loss. Usually people take TDEE and subtract 10 or 20 percent from it to create a deficit. One thing to note: as you lose weight, you'll want to recalculate your TDEE every 10 lbs or so since weight is a factor in that equation.
-
TDEE, by definition is maintenance; 1800 would still be a deficit. You should also not net under your BMR, as that is the amount your body needs for basic functions.

I just started bench pressing and I'm using the empty oly bar doing 2-3 sets of 3 reps. My kettlebell C&P is currently 2x22lb bells. (I think I started at 2x14)

First of all, I would say ask your physical therapist what exercises are safe to do. Beyond that, watch what you eat. I know it sounds flippant, but weight loss happens in the kitchen. Good luck!

Apparently he recommends a cross training or otherwise minimalist shoe. http://shauntfitness.com/insanity-shoes/

Maybe try seeing changes with a tape measure instead of the scale?

Amazing! Awesome job!

My advice is to try out some high end bras if you haven't already. The right shape can make you look overall thinner/smaller. Now bathing suits...don't get me started on that farce. :grumble:

I walk in barefeets or fivefingers shoes. It doesn't work for everyone, though. No hate. :flowerforyou:
-
As in, maybe your natural stride doesn't match what your shoes are built for and you need to find something that fits you in the right way for the way you walk. That's my best guess for pain after only 5 minutes, unless you have some kind of injury.
-
One thought: maybe you need different shoes?

Wow! Amazing job! :drinker: :flowerforyou:

I have an Implanon. I gained about a cup size. If you're unhappy, it's probably time to try something else. It's not worth being miserable. Can you have estrogen? Maybe a Nuvaring would work?
-
If you can do 10 reps, you probably want to up the weight until you are doing about 5 reps for each set. Of course, when things start getting heavy you really want to be sure of your form, so I think the lifting class is an awesome idea. In the meantime, are there staff at the gym you could ask for advice? Or maybe some…

I have a pair of Black Diamond Windweight gloves for general winter from when Iived in New England. I don't know if that exact product would be helpful but Black Diamond makes some good stuff. I think there's also a convertible mitten version of the glove I have.

+1 for kettlebells!

Wat? Is this the new thigh gap?
-
Stuffing and champagne. What else do you need? :drinker:
-
I wear the kind that stop at your thigh. They have silicon(?) strips lining the top to keep them from sliding down. That way when they drive me crazy halfway through the day I can just pull them off like socks.

I love this! Thank you for sharing your story. :flowerforyou:

I think you need to look into "basal metabolic rate" and "total daily energy expenditure." http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html And regarding this...
-
Try this: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html It takes into account your activity and exercise. That's the amount you need in an average day to maintain. Then subtract 10-20% from that number to create a deficit.
-
If you're increasing the amount you can lift, you're gaining strength. I usually only feel sore after doing a new exercise. Then I'm sore for like 3 freakin days.
