Some people are full of hate and just can't wait to spread it ! Congratulations on your weight loss and healthy lifestyle. You can change your weight, but you can't change stupidity so that guy is screwed :)

My answer echos those above. When I buy rice I usually get either brown long grain or Basmati - these are just my personal preference. So that I would know how the particular type would measure cooked, I did a "sample" batch of just 1/4 cup dry to determine how much it would yield cooked. From there, I just measure and…

Wonderful post and I'm sure many others will agree with you as well. I left another site due to "watching" others get bashed when they would ask for help or ideas. Nice of you to speak up on others behalf :)

Eating after a certain time shouldn't make any difference. I have traveled to the other side of the world several times and your food schedule is crazy. Your body has no idea what time of day it is- look at the big picture of a 24 hour cycle. Prior to my travels, I always had my last meal of the day around 8 or 8:30 at…

"So, I have a bf and I'm not getting what I need out of the relationship. Half the time he acts like I don't exist. He barely calls/texts; I'm always the one reaching out to him. I lived with him for one year and then he kicked me and my three girls out. We are now (my girls and I) renting a house. He wants to date for a…

If you are on the East Coast (Philadelphia, NJ, NY, DE, northern MD) there is a great drink called Skinny Water that was developed by local guy - Pat Croce. Most of the flavors are great and it's 0 calories (uses Splenda type sweetener). I also like the others mentioned: Vitamin Water Zero, Fuze Slenderize. Also look for…

I agree with many of the previous posts in terms of not viewing this as a "rule breaker" or negative, sneaky move. To enjoy a nice meal without worrying about the calories or a day where you aren't gorging, just eating some items you don't normally eat, allows you to maintain some balance and take some pressure off. I have…

It takes a lot of courage to come out of a break up and decide to do something radically different and healthy for yourself. I'm so glad you came to this site and I hope that you will remember to stand back and look at the long term, big picture. Don't get too caught up on the day to day or week to week of eating healthy…

I second the Judith Beck book - The Beck Diet Solution. I'm a PsyD student who is very familiar with CBT- cognitive behavioral therapy. Right now I work with inpatient drug and alcohol patients and CBT is a large component of our treatment approach. In relation to food...just look into Weight Watchers and you'll find CBT…

It seems as if research is really in favor of Yoga for all sorts of health benefits. I only wish I liked it. I have tried it many times and absolutely hate it. Bummer. The medical facility I work for actually has it as part of a patient program and I find it difficult to restrain myself from defending patients that refuse…

Your quote: "Regardless, I am staying the course and doing this for my health. If I am going to be heavy, then I am going to be as kind to my body as I can." According to your profile, you have a husband and a beautiful 8 year old. All the reasons in the world to keep eating healthy as that is far more motivating than any…

I am terribly sorry that you and your family are in the midst of this tragedy!! You are not foolish to think about food choices. It is important to take care of yourself even during the worst of times- perhaps even more so!! Having your "head on straight" is going to happen more easily if you fuel yourself with healthy…

From your post: The point being, is that I weigh exactly the same as I did 10 years ago (scarey), but I went ten years ago to weight watchers obviously because I did not like the way I looked so - it seems that I am right back where I started ten years ago!!!:( I saved by WW weight log; so that is how I knew I was back to…

I went to China for two weeks a couple of months ago and just returned from a cruise. Both trips I ate as close to what I normally eat on any given day with an occasional desert or extra serving of meat or fruit. I came back 3 pounds under my maintenance weight after China and came back at my maintenance weight after the…

Yeah...I agree with Staps065 in terms of what a fried egg is. I usually associate a "fried egg" as being one that was cooked with butter, bacon grease, lard, or other similar artery clogger.

I guess it would depend on how much you are using. If you just coat the pan or glass container (if using in microwave), then that is just enough to keep it from sticking without adding excessive oil calories. If the egg sits in a 1/2 inch of Pam spray... then I guess it would be more like frying. Interesting question,…

So many great replies here! All I will add is that if you can learn to boil a pot of water and work the microwave, then you can do enough to make healthy, filling, tasteful meals! I will also add that when we really want something, we'll do anything to get it. If you want good health, more energy, and to feel better about…

I know what helps me stay motivated and "on track" is not getting into a food rut. Every few weeks I re-assess the foods that I eat most often. If there are foods that I consistently eat, then I purposely cut down on them and substitute new items. For example, if I find that I eat steamed broccoli daily or even 4 times a…

I used WW to lose 14 pounds three years ago and have maintained that loss since then. I was keeping the WW online membership to track and to read posts just to stay in the groove. The message boards were becoming increasingly filled with really nasty remarks. I realize that there were many posts that were just fine, but…

I agree with the others who suggested to check the BMI chart and to look at a weight range rather than a specific number. Good Lord...I'm 5'4 and I think the last time I weighed 114 I was in the seventh grade!. I'm over 40, weigh 128, have worked out for over twenty years, and I wear mostly 4s, sometimes a 2 here or there.…
