  • Using the formula the provide it says I should be eating 2200 plus calories a day. That just sounds like way too much to lose any weight. Have others had good success using their formula? I am 5'4 " and 163lbs... goal is 140.
  • cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, and a little vanilla. you can also sub cocoa powder for the cinnamon.
  • 1/2 cup 2% cottage cheese and 1 cup fresh berries. Filling and yummy. CC is 90kcal and lots of protein. You can add more or less fruit depending on cals and taste. alternatively you can add a few nuts if you want it more savory.
  • I drink naturally flavored soda water (I like the Lacroix brand orange flavor best, its cheap and in cans) or the Poland Springs lime one when they have it. Calorie free, and better for your bones than diet cola type things.
  • I found that taking a daily fiber supplement (citrucel- which is non gas producing) makes a huge difference.
  • Try some strength training to mix it up! Your body gets used to the cardio (if you're doing the same stuff) very quickly. I was having a similar problem, and when I started doing strength training 2x per week, I started to see results. Also, sometimes you'll slow down for a week or two, but then the next week you'll see…
  • I LOVED this app! I always thought I was incapable of running, but not so! This one starts off so easy anyone can do it, and ramps up to running in no time. Plus starting off slowly reduces the chance of injuries. Try it, it was great. I'm now working on "EI10k" which is the extender version.
  • Probably NOT ok to eat less. This number is one of those "conventional wisdom" things that has been around for AGES and hasn't changed at all, which should tell you there's a good reason. Try to focus meeting the goal with things that you KNOW are good for your body... variety of fresh produce, whole grains, etc...…
  • I really like "lean pockets" breakfast ones. The bacon-egg-cheese. Not perfect nutritionally, but they are yummy, a reaonable amount of calories (I think 260) and curb the desire for an egg-mcmuffin. I alternate that with packets of low-sugar flavored oatmeal (I like the quaker weight control with brown sugar and maple),…
  • I don't think you should feel embarrassed. Exercise is so important for your health, and you will find that MOST gyms (maybe not all) cater to people or all sizes or shapes. Maybe consider a women-only one? I used to go to an all girls gym, and I loved it - I felt like it was less judgmental and more supportive. That being…
  • The average amount of weight gained because of the pill is only 2 or 3 lbs. However, if its making you moody / hungry / etc then that might also be a factor. You could ask for a Rx for a lower dose pill, or else consider an alternate option - I know lots of people who swear by the Nuva-Ring. If a longer term option is…
  • Every day is a new day. Forgive yourself for today's jelly-belly indiscretion, and start over tomorrow. I read somewhere something that I really liked... the guy said, you don't have to succeed on your diet EVERY day, just TODAY. If you take each day one at a time, commit yourself to following your plan for just that one…
  • Try the couch to 5k (c25k) plan. You can get the free app for your smartphone. It works you up to it really slowly (you start with running 30s walking 2min or something like that) and before you know it you'll be running like a runner! :) i hurt myself the first time i decided to just start running several miles... this is…
  • If you feel better now, walk is probablly the best suggestion.
  • when i've tried something similar in the past (WW points, +/- exercise points) I found that if I ate all the exercise calories, I didn't really lose. BUT... depends on the level of exercise... if you're working out hard and burning 500 kcal, 1200 kcal is just not enough. I would try spliting the difference... eat half the…
  • Mine is to make 20 minutes to exercise today... in the middle of a 36 hour shift thats not always easy... but really, 20 minutes of free time is there, I just have to grab it!
  • that is so great! did you do it every day, or a few times a week?? i just got it and have only done it once so far.. i'm debating aiming for 6 days a week vs 3 with some other stuff mixed in.
  • lemon juice and garlic and little olive oil and then grill really lightly. yum.
  • If you eat an amount equal to your total expenditure, then your metabolism should be neutral (i.e. not burning fat). Doesn't really matter what type of stuff you eat.
  • I like the Fage 2%. With Honey and some fresh berries - delicious!
  • YES! This happens to me!! I generally do what you do, which is give up and decide to "wait" til I lose weight. However, last year I literally didn't have anything decent to wear to work, so I sucked it up and just bought a couple basics (some decent looking pants and few blousy shirts) in a bigger size than I've ever worn…
  • I'm leery!! I just started this week. I love the tools, but I feel that if I eat back all my exercise calories that will be too much. I'm splitting the difference for now. This is based in part on prior experience with weight watchers (which did work when I did it) which gave me around 1200kcal (same as this recommends)…
  • I agree it seems like too much if you eat back ALL the exercise calories. I just started, but I've been eating about half of my exercise back (mine is also 1200). We'll see how it goes. I'd say just try it the way it suggests for 2 weeks and then adjust accordingly when you see whats happening for your body. Today I ran…
  • recumbent bike would probably be safest. no stress on your hand or risk of falling on it, but still good workout. good luck. its only a few weeks, you need that hand!
