I completely agree, and my diary will show I'm as far as you can get from strict in what I put into my body! My problem is that I don't really have the balance at the moment, and that's what I'm working towards. Again, I don't plan on ever going 100% whole grain, I'm looking for the balance. The problem there being if I…

Unfortunately, we're limited at the moment as we only have a hob and microwave in our condo. I am opening up t experimentation more, before I moved here I was a very very picky eater, didn't eat much veg at all, didn't eat rice, pasta etc. or different types of food. So I am training my palate, but it's taking time. I've…

I love salsa actually, although i need to find a decent recipe to make myself because it's very expensive here and the options are limited Yeah, that's what I tend to do. Like when I'm making the sauce for bolognaise, I grate the carrots and cut up onions and mushrooms really small and I love it. I tend to eat more veg…

Agreed. If I started banning things, I'd be craving them immediately! I need to improve my macros though to have that balance. Working on protein atm, and struggling! Thanks for the tips, some great ideas here!

I'll give it a go, thanks. I've been using whole wheat pasta for spaghetti bolognaise and I enjoy that, so it doesn't seem such an issue with pasta.

Some people need cardio for weight loss as it makes it easier to maintain the calorie deficit required to lose weight and meet their goals. Yes, they could lose the same amount of fat if they simply ate less calories, but if it were that simple no one would ever be fat. 'Just eat less calories' doesn't help. Having the…

Thanks for the tips! My report from yesterday: Went to the gym upstairs with the mirror. Went into the position I had been in the day before and it was all wrong, body wasn't straight at all. Once I got into a position I think looked good (neck and head up, straight line), and did one I felt it straight away more on my…

This is incredibly sad. Imagine being in a state of mind like this. I feel most sorry for the poor kids, but I also wonder what kind of life this woman had to lead her to this.

This thread has motivated me to start this today! I've had it months and put it off and off for no good reason. Don't think I'll manage it everyday, as I want to keep up some of my other workouts too.

How far apart should my feet be?

Thanks :) I'll let you know how it goes this afternoon!

Yeah, I'll try the mirror thing. Did that on Monday but not sure what exactly what I was looking for :D Well, I think the main issue is that complete lack of strength in my arms. I can hold in the pushup position but when I try to actually push up they pretty much give out. Maybe I'm overusing my core trying to not fall? I…

White bread is pretty delicious.....that is the point.

Yeah a 6 inch turkey sub with veggies is exactly the same as a Big Mac..... Not all bad things are created equal. It's not a case of bad or good. There is a spectrum. Telling people they might as well eat McDonalds as Subway as they're both bad is awful advice which ignores the fact that not everyone wants to cut out fast…

I'm struggling with pushups at the moment too. I've very little upper body strength, which I want to improve, and I also want to strengthen my core. I'm trying to do this programme : http://hundredpushups.com/week1.html Struggling at the moment. No idea what my form is like but can't get down very far at all and wrecked…

Because it's delicious, fast and convenient?

Em... yes. If I go for fast food, like Burgerking (rarely but at times), then I adjust my calories so it fits. A meal might be 850calories. I can work it so that that fits into my daily totals (though the macros go out the window), but adding normal coke would probably put me over my calories. People are aware fast food…

I stopped tracking sugar yesterday for the same reason. It's a kick in the teeth when it's in the red and I'd rather not see it, especially when it's caused by strawberries and rose apple! I've also stopped tracking salt but not for the same reasons. Mostly, because even while tracking, I don't take much notice of it, or…

Wedding and honeymoon were the initial motivation. I wanna look hot for my fiance, and working out means I can eat more making it easier to stay on track with my diet. I also wanna be able to enjoy a strenuous enough honeymoon without being wrecked. That's why it started. Now that I'm in the process, have researched stuff…

This is very pedantic. When people say x weighs more than x they mean by density/volume. They obviously don't mean 1lb is more than 1lb, that is obvious. People will say bricks weigh more than feathers, and muscle weighs more than fat. It's simply a shorthand way to say a certain volume of one thing weighs more than a…

Em, no. I never implied that in any way. Please read my post again. Giving suggestions anywhere, vegetarian or not, is a good idea. Whether they take the advice or not is up to the restaurant and whether it is worth it for them or not. Feedback helps every business. I'm saying no restaurant has a responsibility to do…

Public eateries don't have a responsibility to do anything except make profit and abide by health codes. They don't owe anyone anything. Demand will always lead the way. If they lose customers or they're business suffers because they don't have a veggie option, then the business will fail or reform. similarly if veggies…

I'm a 26 year old female. 5'7". My highest weight was 167.5 last year. I'm currently 143.5. My original goal was 140, but right now I'm aiming more to improve body composition, reducing body fat (not necessarily weight), and toning up. While I'm happy enough with my weight, my BF% is still quite high and I'd like to be…

The main motivation for getting fit (as opposed to just losing weight) is to be able to trek to see gorillas and really enjoy it. I'm getting married in the summer and my honeymoon is a 9week trip in Africa, including going to see the gorillas. Plenty of it will be pretty arduous, and the gorilla trek will be the hardest…

My apologies, but we have had to revoke your Irish heritage status. You may re-apply for Irishness after passing a test on the name of our national holiday ;)

Lá 'le Pádraig daoibh go léir! Cork girl here living in Bangkok. Had a nice big fry this morning, watching the rugby later. And to join in http://paddynotpatty.com/

Patty (instead of Paddy). Grrrr....

Thanks for the info, much appreciated :) Yeah, I'm aware of the red meat/processed meat stuff. I guess in my mind limiting those doesn't equal meatless though. There's plenty of other options incl all sorts of healthy fish, white meat etc. But that would just be my preference, I'm not great with vegetarian only food.

And how did my posts affect that? Personally I believe debate is never stupid, it's how we learn. Before this catastrophe of a thread I wasn't aware of the study the poster spoke of. Now I know it exists and I can go find it and read more. It has nothing to do with anyone else or bashing their choices. Again, I have never…

Bullying? Ah ffs. I fueled the fire? I didn't make a claim either way, someone else did. I found it interesting and wanted more info. I've never been anything but supportive of others lifestyles, my sister was a vegetarian for 10years. I am not in any way advocating either position, I was simply asking why one was better…
