  • Elliptical is better for your knees and body (impact based at least) as others have said. You'll burn more on the treadmill however. I try to mix it up. I don't like the treadmill much (hurts my knees - although running I'm ok generally). I usually do about 30-45 minutes on the stair climbers now, and another 20-30 minutes…
  • Welcome to the Valley! At least it's not hot at the moment (although coming from MN it might feel that way for you!) ~S
  • Short answer: Because you'll let him! (that goes for either sex for that matter). The real question is: why would you let someone do that to you? Once, maybe twice, but if you get ditched a second time, that person isn't interested in you and move on! It would only be awkward in that class if you allow it to be. Time to…
  • Yes, a very impressive start!
  • I'm not a huge fan of Facebook anymore (had my addictive moments). It's nice to keep in touch with people from high school and the various places I've lived/deployed to (that would've been tough to track down in many cases), but I rarely do much with it myself. It always seems like the same 10 people post the same stuff,…
  • I'm thinking so cherry vodka and diet sounds good for tonight..... :)
  • My wife has gone through all aspects skinny/larger since we've been together (10+ years now). I've never lost any desire for her (and show it in several ways, including trying to molest her pretty much daily!) She was about a 14-16 when we met, got up to a size 22 +, and then decided to have gastric bypass about 5 years…
  • I have a little bit of everything (16 gigs on my Nano, 32 gigs on my iTouch). However, I have two playlists that I use for working out. One specifically called that (Workout) and is a mix of dance/techno type music mostly (need that upbeat for cardio!) My Favorites list is the current songs that I listen to alot, and will…
  • So what else do you forget Breckgirl? Do you leave your keys and sunglasses all over the place? :) I still like paperbacks too actually. For me the e-readers are pretty handy on my elliptical machine (it's really hard to turn pages when I'm going full out. The readers I can just touch the screen and it turns the page).…
  • I was trying to send a girl friend "I want to take you to Jamba Juice". What my iPhone translated it to was "I want to lick your juices." She was pretty quiet for a few minutes until I realized what I sent to her and had to apologize.
  • Here's an updated link of the comparison of all the e-readers out there on C-Net (I was doing my research a little). http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20009738-1/kindle-vs-nook-vs-ipad-which-e-book-reader-should-you-buy/
  • For the best screen out there, you can't go wrong with the iPad's. I bought an iPad2 a few months ago and just starting goofing off on the reading part, and couldn't believe the screen! (I ended up returning it for other reasons). The other big perk is that you can use the iPad for all the brands - they have their own…
  • I would go with what the machine says personally.
  • Cut the Rope, Words with Friends, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Trillian, Jamba Juice... :) Oh and sexy dice! LOL
  • I'm a Chipotle addict. (but I've been good, haven't eaten there in a week or two now!) Get a burrito bowl instead of the tortilla. The tortillas taste awesome, but are pretty high in calories and carbs.
  • Yeah I need to change my habits for eating some. I was afraid of that. That and eating back all my burned calories are what's keeping me stable (so to speak). I used to just eat my daily calories (not counting any burned) and that's how I was losing a few years ago. Thanks for all the support!
  • Thanks for all the comments and positive motivation. :) I opened up my food diary (was only set to friends). I guess the frustrating thing is - that I had started with this site earlier in the summer (April/May) and had lost about 10 lbs (went from 253 to 242), and my routine isn't much different (well the boxing is new).…
  • You should've expected some smart alecs on here. They just beat me to it. ;)
  • Maybe a breakfast bar? Everyone is different, but those might be ok for you (and low in calories).
  • Thanks for all the replies. It's hard to tell sometimes. My wife and her best friend say they've noticed a difference (from a side profile especially), but it doesn't feel like my waistline has dropped all that much. I'm paying closer attention to what I eat (portions as well as what), and overall I think it's better (need…
  • Welcome back and that's an awesome weight loss so far! Very impressive!
  • Welcome and great start so far! Keep it up!
  • I do one similar to froggy's. Just lite italian dressing with some spices (usually salt and pepper, and a garlic wine seasoning salt I got from The Melting Pot), just a dash of butter in as well. I grill the chicken, then put it in back in the dressing (in a corning ware dish) and broil it on the grill another 10-15…
  • Completely necessary! I think my wife and I would go crazy if we didn't have our circle(s) of friends! To turn this around a little, he doesn't think you need any other friends, but does he have a group of friends, or people to talk to/hang out with? I've watched that with my wife's family (they're Mormon). Her (step)dad…
  • I work security 2-3 nights a week at a club in Scottsdale, so I watch stuff like this happen alot. That same guy will be at the club the next weekend working it again. On the other hand, he's being slightly different as you are meeting some of his friends and family. Even when I am dating someone, they don't meet family…
  • Thanks for the link Vanessa. If that's accurate, my Precor at home (with the HRM in it) is pretty accurate after all then based on my weight and intensity! I've seen some of the gym ellipticals be 50+ calories less than my one at home....
  • I've always wondered which one was more accurate. I have a Precor at home (with a HRM built in) and when I do use an elliptical at a gym, the gym one is usually between 50-75 calories less for the same timeframe. Now, I'm the only one using my Precor, vs the gym that probably has 20 people on it a day, so I would like to…
  • The training yourself to eat slower is pretty tough for some of us who went through boot camp! When the drill instructor gives you 5 minutes to get your food AND eat it, that tends to get ingrained in your system! :) I usually eat my lunch pretty fast, but try to slow down when I'm eating dinner.
  • If you're using an iPod, I typically get a podcast (the free ones). I like fast music, so I grab the Rotation with DJ Addison or Perfecto with Paul Oakenfold. They usually have new ones every week, about an hour long, and are fairly fast paced (house/techno style blends). I would check other podcasts as well if you like a…
