Pandora, babe. Ozzy, AC/DC, Metallica. I am 50, after all :) While on my LifeFitness elliptical. 60 minutes at max level of 25 plus 10 min cool down (also set to a max). Average calorie loss is 1100 per 70 minute.

Exercising means achieving a maximum target heart rate. To some, male 50 years old MTR of 139 for 60 minutes might be too extreme. I personally think you are cheating yourself if you have to enter calories burned during shopping at the grocery store. My $0.02

Twice per day - morning and evening. And you are correct. You want to learn how your diet affects your weight. If you are off the regular meal schedules and overeat at the restaurant for example, and your weight registered a number, you want to know about it. Your approach is just fine.

I lost total of 77 pounds. I was in size 38 pants and now able to take off my size 30 bluejeans without unzipping and unbutton them. I am still losing weight, although at much slower rate. From 254LBs to 177LBs since August 16, 2011.

why don't you share your food diary to start with. At least people can see what you eat and this will be a good starting point.

Find your target heart rate. Usually 80% of your MAX. Mine (male, 50) should be 138 b/min. I can burn 1000 calories is i stay on elliptical for 70 minutes at my HR at 145. I do it 7 days per week
