Hi deb... I don't have an IBS (i don't think), but I still noticed changes myself. I purchased his book Eat for Health and he actually touched it on the subject of having difficulties with raw foods. He is saying (I can't quote, but something like that) "if you can't tolerate that much at once, just reduce it and take time…

In addition to Eat to Live, I got Eat for Health. I am too, somewhat struggling with concept of not eating dairy, etc.. Although he does not say to cut it out completely out of your diet. He is saying to limit animal proteins to a 10% of your daily cal intake. Regardless, as I am reading it now, I have mixed feelings.…

First 2 replies to your thread - are your best answers. I am software engineer and also have a sitting job. I found that working out during lunch break helps tremendously with NOT wanting to snack.

One good thing about the salads is you have a flexibility to change so many ingredients, which will give you a different flavor every time. Personally, since I started my diet over 18 months ago, I had salad twice per day, every day as part of my main meal. You can add grilled turkey breast or shrimp or salmon as protein…

Those of you who think Atkins diet is nothing but high fat diet are wrong. You either never read beyond induction stage of the diet or never properly followed it. FIRST 2 WEEKS are designed to bring your ketosis levels up enough to position your body for the lipolysis state, which is where you actually lose weight.…

Don't leave. We need your posts :)

Probably nothing. And don't worry about it. You are not a machine, so you are allowed. :)

Totally noticeable, man. Great job. Hate that you had to deal with health issue, but on a positive note.... Think what you have done and what you CAN and WILL do, if you to stick with your goals. Good luck,.

Yes, hydration is the key. Also, try a different cardio exercise (to eliminate the stationary bike routine). If it continues, perhaps a trip to a doc. Could be potassium deficiency or some other simple solution.

Welcome to look at my food and exercise diaries. I know our age and anatomy are not the same, but it will give you an idea. of food. There is a 2 months gap beginning august 22 till end of October where I did not enter my diet, but you can go back to my beginning of August, 2011. Good luck. Ask questions. The support…

At the age of 49 I told myself - will I ever be able to say 50 @ 50? I lost 50lbs by the time I turned 50 in April of this year. Yes, like you I have been overweight about 25 years. Burk just said it correctly - 1 LB at the time, man. And I want to add that you should not look what you DID, but should concentrate on what…

What an amazing transformation. I love to read stories like yours. Keep up the good, awesome job. Very proud of your progress!!!

I took a look at your diet. You eat absolutely no veggies. Welcome to look at mine back a year ago. I started my diet with a limit of 50 g per day. With lean meats and fish, you can have an awesome diet that contains many veggies. Limit yourself on fruits till you see a progress in your weight loss, than gradually…

Stay focused. You here for a long run. You not a machine. IT"S OK. Get back to whatever you were doing, exercise, healthy eating. This is not the last time you will be swayed away from your daily life. Holidays, birthday parties, blah, blah... Good luck!!

I agree with you Bobbie, but not the scale part. To me it was essential to monitor weight daily, sometimes even couple of times per day. As I was learning new ways of eating, it was important to see and compare what I ate vs how much weight I lost (or gained). Granted, now I don't do it as often, as I am into my 60th week…

I figured a good weight loss is about 2 LB per week. So, every time I lost 2 LBs, I took a picture. Same position. Same place. Needless to say, I have 33 pictures in my photo gallery :) Now, if I have guts, I will stream them into a slideshow and publish it.254LB->185LB. But I don't have the guts (yet) :)

I kept telling myself, "it's only a fun size". So I ate them all night for about 4 hours. Come to think of it, I ate more than I gave away.

A bit too aggressive weight loss. Not sure what your SW was, and I am not expert, but with this kind of rapid loss, you probably lost some muscle tissue as well as fat. Congrats, but be careful with rapid progress.

@Cgirlish - Second pic (with the bike). Great outdoor shot.

on 8/16/2011 I clocked at 254LB on 8/16/2012 I clocked at 189LB My goal? I don't care anymore, but I don't think I am done losing yet. I am 50 years old and I am at the best shape in a long time. I make sure I get my 60 minutes cardio per day plus 2 muscle groups alternating between pushing and pulling (biceps vs triceps)…

I am not 50 anymore. My story is here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/710320-1-year-anniversary-pics-didn-t-make-my-goal We have a great community with "over 50", welcome to add me or look at my food plan. To some it is pretty boring, but it worked for at least 1 person.

You can't really cook it like you cook ground beef. Turkey so much leaner. The good thing is with the spices available today, you can create any flavor you wish. Personally I am cayenne pepper freak and add this stuff to everything I put in my mouth, But try this: * Add some apple sauce to the meat. May be 1/2 cup per 1LB…
