  • Sorry... *nerd fitness Darn auto cucumber
  • I've read New Rules for Lifting and Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Personally I loved BTFFTM way better. It's a great learning tool for choosing foods, how to detect if you are losing muscle mass or fat and what to do with your food/exercise depending on what's happening. I do the full body workout 3x a week. I made a lot of…
  • My goal is to not be overweight but at the same time I don't want to be "just thin". I want the firmness that comes with having muscles. If that makes sense
  • As far as goals I would like to lose the excess fat and increase my strength. And not be so flabby lol. I want CV health but don't plan on doing endurance sports like marathons etc. I guess my question is...,is 3x full body weight lifting better for results than 5x of something like T25 that does cardio with strength…
  • I got a weight routine from Burn The Fat Feed the Muscle. Great book with info on weight training, fitness in general and has workouts. From there I was able to get a full body weight workout that I do at home. I use free weights and my barbell from my Body Pump DVDs I've also done Supreme 90 day which uses free weights…
  • Soda....or as we call it here "pop" I know it's a hot button for many whether it affects cravings but I can't deny that when I cut it my cravings are non existent. Maybe it's the increase in water or the decrease in chems. Who knows. Either way it's way easier sticking to a plan if I cut it. I may have one here and there…
  • I have used a counselor for many times in my life and not for "marriage" purposes. If you find the right one they are a great sounding board for how to deal with certain situations that life brings you. I've gotten great advice for dealing with my daughter when she was oppositional defiant that I have used in other aspects…
  • I found myself in the store today and thought of this post. I just got done working off my Ice Cream Sundae Pop Tart. It was sooo worth it :)
  • I did Jillian Michaels 30 DS and was really sore but for the first few days. After that it was a good sore. If knees hurt, it's probably because they are weak or bad form. Also if you were that sore you may have been using too high of weights. For some I could only use 3lbs. I've had several work outs that hurt so bad at…
  • It's irrational to expect to have 100% on the path days every day, every year....events come up. My take is I enjoy them. I take part the in the celebrations, I just don't party it up like the Romans. I enjoy to an extent and then move on the next day. One day or one event will not ruin your all your work. It's a daily…
  • I'm a couple weeks in to Les Mills Body Pump DVDs from Beachbody. It's working with barbells (comes with it) and is great for beginners. I love it. I've also done Supreme 90 Day which is much cheaper ($40) and combines come cardio with free weights. By the time I was done I was doing push ups on my toes :) Of course, I've…
  • I'll be 44 in July and it doesn't bother me a bit. I'm still VERY young at heart. I don't feel like I did much living until I was in my late 30s. I'm just getting started!!! Just the other night my 2nd oldest daughter (17) said "I wonder what it would be like if you got all ripped? It would be weird to have a mom that…
  • I have a friend that has a gym who started selling it and he INSTANTLY got annoying on Facebook with all his posts hawking this stuff. It's a pyramid scheme Slimfast. After he got going he's had some of my other friends (who are fit already) on it and selling it. All their statuses have been hidden on my facebook. They…
  • Ahhh...gotcha.
  • That's interesting. Im curious as to why diet sodas have the warning on them about the pku whatever stuff that can cause cancer. If similar properties in diet soda are in meats, which are eaten in mass quanitites at much higher levels, then why does the soda warrant an actual warning label but the meat doesn't? Especially…
  • Ha! I don't :) I saw it posted somehwere else...but the information that went with it said they were both 5 lbs. I thought I'd see if anyone here could say. The fat would seem to be right for 5 lbs but the muscle didn't seem equal. I found this one...seems more right to me.
  • Weights 3 x per week (Body Pump) Cardio 3 x per week - usually intervals on the treadmill (30 mins on average, sometimes more) The cardio is mainly to keep a routine of "making" time for working out every day and to build cardiovascular endurance. Plus the extra calories burned helps with my deficit.
  • You're fine OP. This topic is very popular for debating. And sometimes, some of the members that have been here a while need to remember some people are new to this lifestyle of good choices and new to MFP and have questions on things we asked yars ago or just need support. As for pop (that's what we call it here). Do what…
  • Wouldn't let me edit it...but it's supposed to show 5 lb of fat vs 5 lb of muscle. But I think it's looks like 1 lb of muscle.
  • Sorry. I'm posting via mobile and missed a character. Dang small screens. All better.
  • I kind of get what you're saying. I've worked with a lady for 12 years. Every day she eats lunch with her mom and they go to Curves after work. She "works out" in jeans and a hoodie. She has never changed her body composition. There are times when I want to shake her and say "wake up" or "try this"...but in the end I…
  • It's not all about the scale on this journey http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10/07/3-reasons-to-reconsider-stepping-on-the-scale-this-morning/
  • Girl that IS major!!! Amazing! @Lena you too!! Great transformations ladies.
  • I've done Supreme 90 day.... Great program using handwts and only $20. I lost an inch/month off places and got nice muscles from it. I tried Chalean Extreme next but it wasn't for me. I returned it. I know people have had good results. I'm 10 days in on Les Mills Body Pump and I'm loving it. It's working with barbell and…
  • You look fab!
  • Justjamie....wow! You look great! Congrats!
  • Great job! I was amazed the first time I realized I lost weight in my face. I never thought of my face as fat until I saw the change in a pic once day. I was shocked.
  • I got the Pump. I'm on Day 8 and so far I really like it. Today was my first day of Pump & Burn and I really enjoyed the DVD. Out of the DVDs I've done so far (Pump Challenge, Flow, HC Abs & Pump & Burn) I can say that Flow is the only one I didn't care for. I found it hard to learn the moves (I've never done yoga type…
  • (ducks for cover and awaits the responses) =)
  • That's kind of why I used an ap to monitor daily weight. I don't have IBS but I can fluctuate easily. One time I was up like 5 lbs on my MFP weigh day and wanted to cry. The next day or 2 it was down. But by tracking it daily off site I learned my "patterns". After that I only logged new weights on MFP when my daily…
