  • Lunges tend to tone the front thigh, which I think is what makes the shape you are looking for. I also saw a video that I am going to try called thigh dancing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExJcsRv7G78&feature=player_embedded It looks kind of hilarious, but it's worth a try, right? :)
  • I feel your pain! My fiance is a cook by trade, and he is WONDERFUL at what he does, but I swear... I gained almost 20 pounds since we got together two years ago! He always tells me he's love me if I was 400 pounds and I'm like BEHBEH! DON'T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!!! :)
  • It's discouraging when you really WANT people to appreciate how hard you're working, but they just don't register it. Or maybe they do, but they don't SAY anything. I feel your pain. :(
  • I found the same thing! I just honestly logged what I was actually eating (which I totally thought was not that much) and was like, uh ooooh... I was especially surprised because I always have egg and toast for breakfast and I thought I was being so overindulgent and I would need to cut that out because that was CERTAINLY…
  • YAY! Just for saying it! I am glad that you are feeling happy and healthy at your weight!
  • This has probably already been said, so sorry if I'm repetitive, but MFP calculates what you need to eat to lose weight without exercising at ALL. So if you exercise then you do need to make up at least some of the calories you burn with healthy foods. I personally eat back a little over half of the calories I burn and I…
  • I second the epsom salts! There is also a gel called Bio-Freeze that you can get online that is AMAZING. It goes on a little smelly (like strong eucalyptus) but it dries scentless and it is WONDERFUL on sore muscles.
  • I had the same worry when I started, especially because it was over so quickly, but once the week really got underway I was feeling like I was getting a really good workout, actually. I say stick with it! I also added about a half hour of light cardio (walking) to burn a few extra calories.
  • To get a 24 inch waist I think I would need to have my pancreas removed.
  • Just plan your calories out so you can have one without cheating! Or use it on a cheat day. :)
  • That person was totally out of line in saying that to you. If you wanted to get litigious, I bet you would have a case.
  • You look GREAT! Totally inspiring. Congratulations!
  • Good luck with your surgery! I am so glad you heard about this site, it really helps you understand how to eat better and how to make really well-informed healthy choices.
  • That is a really good question, because i'm sure some of the fat from the Ham Hock is what is making it taste to good... :). I don't really know, but if it were me I would assume a 4th of the calories of the ham hock remained, but that's a total guess. Maybe there is a recipe similar to yours on all recipes.com or…
  • That JUST happened to me recently! I was holding steady at 165.8 for like three weeks and I was getting really discouraged so I took my measurements and was like WHAAAA... I had lost a full inch off the widest part of my hips. And then a couple of days after that the scale was at 163.4. I think the inch is more meaningful,…
  • I finished the Shred and went right into the Ripped in 30, and I am very happy with it!
  • I am 38, and I see the same thing going on!! I feel like using a good moisturizer and drinking lots of water helps. I LOVE Neutrogena stuff.
  • Hemalayaa Behl uses some yoga in her dance videos, but they are mostly Bollywood influenced. I love her Beautiful Belly video which is very focused on floor work. She also has a couple of Yoga DVDs out, one is called Yoga for Urban Living.
  • I bet you are getting results you don't realize you are getting. I lost 8 pounds really fast when I started dieting and then I plateaued for like three weeks (I am still kind of mid-plateau, I think), and I was almost getting discouraged until I measured my hips and was like WHAAAAT. I lost a whole INCH. My weight didn't…
  • I'm the exact opposite... I figure if I am going to get disgustingly sweaty (which I do, it's nasty), I should wear old crappy t-shirts and sweat pants!!!
  • Hooray! I am so grateful for the gay friends and family I have in my life, and I am more than happy to defend their rights even if it means giving up my straight privilege in the process.
  • Maybe it's just me, but I find that i am a LOT less bloated when I don't drink diet drinks. I switched to iced tea (homemade brewed, no sweetner) a long time ago and now when I drink a diet pepsi I can REALLY notice how I retain a ton of water and look really swollen. I don't know if this is an age thing, though. I am 38,…
  • I think the fact that you are talking about how you are feeling and reaching out for help is a REALLY good sign. If you were holding in your feelings and hiding your fears, THAT would be a cause for alarm. So the fact that you are wrestling with how the situation is making you feel is already a sign that you are doing well…
  • i LOVE air popped popcorn. I add a little bit of olive oil spray and then sprinkle it with spices (cumin, cayenne pepper, sage, whatever is around). It's crunchy and low-calorie and very satisfying.
  • You are doing great, don't worry. Sometimes weight seems like it is coming off so slowly, and then all of a sudden you'll lose five pounds like that! Have faith in the process, it's weird but it works!!!!
  • Don't feel bad! Those MINIs. They drive me CRAZY. They are NOT MINI, they are pure EVIL. And of course, at my office the chocolate is kept in a basket on MY DESK. Thank God the people I work with are stress-eating lawyers, so the good stuff is usually gone pretty quickly and then it's just a basket of milk chocolate…
  • Sorry if someone has already said this, but the stretching portion on the 30 ds is way to short for me, so I always add in more after the fact (especially for my legs). That DEFINITELY helped with the soreness!!! I also kept a range of weights available so if I felt like I needed to use three pounders for harder exercises…
  • In a similar vein, I totally watch Heavy to get motivation. The weight loss show on Netflix. I love it, I cry at the end of every episode! And then I go work out. :)
  • It's totally not creepy, I think it's really inspirational! And that's why they're there, right? To be admired and to serve as motivation to workout and avoid sweets!
  • I am adding my two cents! I LOVE the DVD too and I have had amazing results (8 pounds lost and 2 inches off my waist so far, I am actually going to do it again for another 30 days!). The ONLY thing I would caution you about is to stretch out at the end a little more completely than she does. Also, I keep a range of weights…
