Small term goals are like rungs in a ladder to your over all goal. It's a great way to start! Don't give up on yourself and remember that permanent change comes over time.

Welcome Nicole! This is a great place to get some assistance. 53 lbs is pretty awesome so far! Congrats!

Hey Bert! what kind of meal plan are you using? If you like, send me a message or add me as a friend and I'll see if I can give you some more detailed advice. :)

It also depends on the protein itself. Whey protein is better than soy, and if you are using a powder, try to find one that doesn't have too much carbs in it. The kind I use has 35g of protein and 2g of carbs. On the other hand I would suggest upping your protein slowly so your body can adjust.

At the end of the day I think a good heart rate monitor would be your best tool for tracking true burned calories. These days you can pick up a polar or something like it for a decent price.

I lost weight, I put a little back on. I miscalculate my calories from time to time but I'm still healthy and working hard on getting into the best shape I've ever been in.

Hey Lori. I post pretty much every day. I like to keep active with my community. You are welcome to add me. :)

You have very similar goals to what I did when I started! I was 240 (Probably more but I avoided scales) with a goal of 200. I'm 6'0 too. I'm now under 190 and dropping :) Feel free to drop me a friends request, maybe I can help you out.

I will admit, I had the hankering for something different. Something up beat fast. I loaded up a fresh round of Les Mills combat this week and even chose to take the ultimate warrior challenge. One of the things I like about combat is that it's only 2 months long. It's also the program that I reached my lowest weight with.…

hopefully they are doing some kind of upgrade ^.^

!0 pounds is a great start! A bit of a reward system is always a bonus too. a new book, or something small for each 10, maybe something bigger for bigger milestones too. and one big reward for reaching your goal!

I sent you a request :)

Every scale is a little different. Stick to one scale. Also remember that the scale is not a true test of fitness after a certain point. I would recommend getting a pair of body fat calipers (they are pretty cheap) and track your progress with that and girth measurements instead. far more accurate.

Well it was a long weekend here (Victora day) so it's a short week and yeah lots of stuff happening. May be looking at a promotion at work (after threatening to quit. lol) the Mrs is down south visiting family so I got the whole gym... er... house to myself. :)

I'm the type of guy who likes to just toss a bunch of stuff together and cook it, so here is my dinner for the week. Healthy stir fry 3 large chicken breasts (cubed) 4 cups of mixed veggies 1 cup (before cooked) quinoa Additional spices optional. I like to keep my food simple :)

Sarah's right. Nutrition is the savior of the injured because the true battle for fitness is won in the kitchen, not the gym. Eating right is the hardest thing for most people. Everyone focuses on the physical but eating right is really the crucial piece of the puzzle and as long as you have that locked down, you will fine…

My turn? Ok Early 2010 I was injured at work. I didn't have much to do other than rest and see the doctor. I decided to get a physical and see where I was. It was some seriously bad news. My bad cholesterol's were through the roof. Good cholesterol was way low. Poor liver function, high white blood cell count,…

I didn't know we had a MFP group! Checking in.

Keep on what I'm doing with my coaching and becoming a personal trainer, just with a bigger home an no worries about my bills haha!

it's important to take a moment to understand the law of reversibility. This is the law that if you stop exercising and eating healthy, you will return to a pre workout state. Something you want to keep in mind is that you should never stop living a healthy life style. it's not a one and done sort of thing. it's a…

If you have the money, quest bars are fantastic. They feel like cheating because they taste so good. if you are looking for a decent protein bar but you are on a budget, costco/sam's club premeir protein bars are a good option too.

Hey Sarah welcome to MFP. This is a great place to start. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like.

You may want to start incorporating high intensity cardio classes or start doing HIIT programs a couple times a week. It is also important to have resistance training at least twice a week. Lean muscle will help you burn fat. If you have any questions feel free to toss me a friends request and we can chat.

You definitely have a solid starting strategy. I really like your approach since you know you have some serious time constraints. you are starting in the best place though. Fitness is a battle won in the kitchen far more than in the gym. If you like you are more than welcome to add me as a friend. if you have any questions…
