  • I have 35 pounds to go and I will be at my goal weight. My plan at that point is to try to maintain my weight by continuing to make healthy choices in food and maintaining my exercise, all without logging food & exercise everyday. If I see that the weight starts creeping back on I will continue to log food and exercise…
  • My husband and I started running a little over a year ago. We started out exactly the way you just did. We went outside and measured a half mile out. We would start out and run as far as we could, then walk the rest of the 1/2 mile. On the way back we would run as far as we could and then walk the rest of the way. Everyday…
  • I have a treadmill right now but will be buying an elliptical when the time comes to get rid of the treadmill.
  • I joined today, I pledged 40 pounds. That will get me to my goal weight!
  • Congrats, great job!
  • Oh, I am so jealous! I too have been close to the 160's, I just can't seem to get there. I was 170.2 on Sunday and 172.4 today. Maybe I'll hit it by next Sunday. Congrats to both of you!
  • My hrm really only works well when my heart rate is elevated. If you want to see what you burn 24/7 you'll probably want to invest in a Body Bugg or the Go Wear Fit device. That's what I'm saving for right now. It would be what the Biggest Loser contestants wear all the time.
  • I think everyone is different. Sometimes I eat all my exercise calories and some days I don't come close to eating them all. I plan my meals the day before and try to end the day with at least one or two hundred calories left, including the extra earned calories. What's funny is when I get stuck at a weight and stop…
  • Is there any way that you can walk around your neighborhood to get exercise? That's all I have been doing to lose weight, along with logging my food and exercise here on MFP. I walk or run outside during good weather and run on my treadmill in the winter. Just take one day at a time, use the food and exercise diaries here…
  • I started c25k last spring but the walking, running, walking killed me. I ended up mapping out a 1 mile loop and started off running as far as I could and then I walked the rest. Every week I tried to run a little more until I was able to run the entire mile without stopping. I think my first mile I ran in around 15…
  • I have a Polar F11 but it hasn't worked properly for a few months. I would suggest the GoWearFit also. That's what I'm saving for. I don't hear of any of the problems that I've had with the Polar. My problems are the heart rate goes to zero for no reason. Good luck!
  • I would think "no" to adding that in your exercise log. By picking "active" for your lifestyle you're really already accounting for the bike ride and being on your feet. That's just my take on it though.
  • Wow! I'm just starting to train for a 10k after running my 1st 5k a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to progress up the ladder to a half and then a full marathon someday. You are truly an inspiration. Congrats!:flowerforyou:
  • Congratulations!
  • I gave up my dial scale for a digital one. My digital scale is very accurate. I can weigh myself 3 times in a row and it will say the same thing all 3 times. The dial scale made me mad because I'd have to bend over to see what it said and the dial would move. I believe the one I have now is a Health-O-Meter scale.…
  • Welcome! You've come to the right place if what you're wanting to do is lose weight. Just use the tools they've given us here and you'll do just fine!
  • :flowerforyou: Welcome to MFP! Just remember that the first step is always the hardest and you made that by setting up your account here. Try to log your food the night before so you know you're staying within your allotted calories. Also make sure to log anything that resembles exercise as this gives you extra calories…
  • I'm sure you can lose weight without working out but if you're really heavy as I was your skin will be very loose and hangy. So far my skin isn't like that and I'm guessing it's because I'm exercising my muscles along the way. Just my thoughts on it.
  • I have a Polar F11. I used to upload my data but I keep all my times in a journal now, it's just easier for me to go back and look at things when I want to.
  • You will...the more my husband and I run the more endurance we get. I'm sure it won't be long and you'll be posting the numbers you want!
  • Yes, Oh what a feeling! I've never done anything challenging or competitive in my life and I loved it. I knew I wouldn't come in first place or anything but just going out and doing the best I could was such an awesome feeling.
  • thanks for the encouragement guys... Betty, you will do better than you think. When you are out there running along with all the other people you just seem to keep going. I finished 30 seconds faster than my own personal pr and I think that's because you're out there running with so many other people. Good luck, have fun,…
  • I too am sorry for your loss. I lost my mom, my best friend, 4 years ago to lung cancer. I also went through a period of time where I didn't care about my weight, how I looked, etc. I just missed my mom. I did have my husband here but he really couldn't understand what I was going through at the time. (He does now because…
  • I do weigh everyday. I started doing that around 4 years ago when I started trying to lose weight. People told me to weigh once a week or even less than that but that didn't work for me. Even though I weigh everyday I only write down my Monday weight. Depending on what I've had to eat or drink in a day my weight can…
  • Same here...I eat what I want but I exercise to make up for it. I may not eat some things as often or in as big of amounts as I used to but I haven't cut anything out.
  • Yep, heard it and ignore it. My goal is in the middle of my healthy weight range and I aim to make it. Nobody thought I was too thin when I weighed 135, why should it be too thin now? Keep up the good work, we'll get there!
  • Great Job! Keep it up, it's a slow process but it's so worth it.
  • I take my picture for every 10 pounds that I lose. It really does help to look at those pictures when I'm feeling like it's not working or I don't feel lighter. Keep up the fight...you'll get there!
  • I have tried to log all my food and all my exercise since joining this site a year ago. I would say it has helped a lot. The only times I didn't was when I was on vacation with no computer. I try to eat within 100 calories of what MFP gives me. This includes the exercise calories. I don't want to break even at the end of…
