  • Daauum! Lighten up! Maybe she is just having some harmless entertainment. How do you know she doesn't think deeper thoughts at other times?? It seems to me you made a hell of an assumption as to her overall thought process. Besides, 'fire and brimstone' thoughts all the time can be bad for your psychology and wellbeing…
  • I used to be a 36E and couldn't run (or was just really uncomfortable), which is my favorite cardio, but a couple of years ago I got a reduction. However, here are some tip I learned along the way; use 2 to 3 sports bras (a Pamela Anderson tip from an interview years ago) which really works well for any high impact…
  • Did cardio twice a day impact fat loss? or just improve conditioning?
  • What everyone else says. Forget the scale. Forget the weight. Measure and check the fit of your clothes. With that little to lose it may be awhile before you reach your desired look ("weight"). You may even gain weight if your body puts on muscle while losing body fat, but you will look better.
  • Stomach, boobs and upper arms. I could kept the boobs. My butt and thighs are the last to go. So damned frustrating! Great Job on your fresh start though. Keep eating clean and pushing yourself in your workouts. Go kick butt!:
  • Hit a PB of 185lbs for reps last week. My knees don't like it though. FYI, I originally lost 4 inches around my thighs over the last year, but gained 1/2 inch lately in the thighs, nothing to be concerned about though. I actually expect to be losing inches due to re-composition as I continue. LIFT HEAVY.
  • 64lbs. Tomorrow is my official anniversary for the start of my journey, so one year. Yay me!! And all of these other successful MFP'ers!!
  • Maybe you feel bloated if you gulp a gallon at once??? Try sipping small amounts frequently. Also, if you are going to do flavored water (which I highly recommend if you can't stand plain water) flavor it yourself. Infuse with whatever fruit you like for a day and, BOOM, water, but better. Skip the sweeteners!!! Otherwise…
  • It is approximately 1 inch loss per 10lbs and about 1-2lbs per week is a good rate to lose. So, it seems to me you want to lose 20-25lbs and about 2 inches. Comfortably, I'd say 2 months, give or take. Remember though, the faster you lose it, the more likely it comes back, and very easily, so just think 'steady' instead of…
  • I am 5'10.5 and doing my thing. :)
  • Form, Form, Form! Yes, starting training is great, but doing it correctly for safety and for maximum benefit should be priority. A personal trainer is always a good investment. If not, try working out with someone to watch you to make sure you are executing each move properly.
  • We should start a club! 5,10" and lost over 60lbs over the last year. Lowest I have been in 10 years. I want to get another 15-20lbs by summer while getting stronger. I do need a new profile pic though. That was 25-30lbs ago.
  • I order and eat what I want and don't worry about it. I measure, weigh and log almost everything else I eat, so when I get to a restaurant I don't feel bad about it. Now, too frequent of restaurant trips can be a problem, however, so I mostly eat at home. Try following the 80/20 rule and that should help.
  • The best way to lose weight is more about what and how much you eat. Exercise of any kind burns extra calories, helps with endurance and builds muscles that burn even more calories. However, I think what answer you are looking for is this; Perform interval training or HIITs to kill some major calories on your machine. Go…
  • Have you set up the nutrition and calorie goals set up for you by MFP? I am no professional, but probably 1 to 1.5lbs per week loss is what you should aim for. More than that and you will probably be losing muscle not fat. Build muscle and you will lose faster. So, you are probably looking at 6-8 weeks. Keep tracking food…
  • Or my favorite; bending over, leaning upper body weight on the hand rails while going faster than they can handle on the stair machines or elliptical. Slow down till you can handle it that fast, people. Poor form gets you nowhere, but possibly injured. And damned sure won't burn the calories or build the strength that you…
  • I can't find the scratch and sniff button.
  • No work out today. I knew my gym would be closed, so I killed it over the weekend and last couple of days. Day off then back to the grind. Happy New Year!!
  • You should do some research on how off the calories reported on the machines can be. Try this one http://www.shape.com/fitness/cardio/how-inaccurate-are-calorie-counters-gym , or do your own search. Knowledge is power. But like the others say, whatever motivates you, and if you are successful in your health journey, forget…
  • The old quad/glute combo. Trying to sit, trying to stand, trying to walk.... I need a wheelchair with a built in bedpan.
  • I am using Bio-Oil. It was recommended to me. I get it at Costco for $20 for a big and small bottle in a package. It has independently backed up claims of helping prevent and helping relieve stretch marks. I am using it for helping to prevent loose skin after weight loss and intense moisturizing . The instructions tell you…
  • Ryan! Any day and everyday. GrrrRrrr
  • Agree! It still helps to have positive people encouraging you. Add me. I have a nice group I am in.
  • I just talked to my trainer about more heavy lifting and less cardio. Great link! Signed up for new letters too.
  • I agree, not a fad, a way our grandparents ate. Best way to make it clean is to get the most basic ingredients you can and you combine them yourself, not a corporation somewhere cooking for you with all the preservatives, coloring, enhancements that destroy our diets. Try buying quinoa, faro, black rice, fresh or frozen…
  • North Natomas here. Work at Downtown 24 Hour though. I wish I had someone to work out with there that is on my level and has similar goals. It would be nice.
  • Well, are you 5ft or 6ft tall? I am 5'10 and hips/butt are 42 inches and legs are 24.5 and 25 inches for left and right. They are still big but I am tall and proportioned so it doesn't look as bad.
  • Need all the cheering I can get. Fairly good at being a cheerleader myself too. Added. :)
  • Oh yeah! I am 5'10 and very proportioned, but maybe thighs and butt are bigger somewhat, but I carry it well. I gained 70 pound over the last 10 years and have been told all along I look just fine, except by my husband. :( So back in January, after my youngest graduated from high school, I began transforming my eating…
  • I was 237 and started with slow jogging back in Feb. 5mph as long as I could. Do not remember how long though. Now I run as fast as 7.5 mph at times. But try this because it will help; Run 1-2 min as fast as you can and then 3.5 mph for 1-2 min to bring your heart rate down, then repeat as often as you can for 30-40 min.…
