  • Thanks for starting the thread. I'm having problems with my bike. Apparently the crank/hub is messed up and needs to be "re-packed". I"m a bit angry since I just bought the bike and now I can't ride home, that and there are massive Miami thunderstorms as usual! Oh well, c'est la vie. Hope your riding is happier than mine…
  • Thanks for the info! Yes, traffic here is incredibly insane. There is a fairly large biking community, but only out here on Key Biscayne. I ride with a co-worker through downtown Miami and while it's pretty safe, there is so much debris from all of the new construction. It's amazing the number of buildings that have been…
  • Correction- I should be using the "bottom" gear, NOT the top gear. Woops!
  • Hi! I'm new to the biking group. I bike to and from school almost everyday or at least 1 way if it's raining (I live in Miami) (round trip 22 miles). I just got a brand new road bike (Jamis-Ventura sport) and I road it for the first time today. What an amazing difference between a hybrid/mountain bike and an actual road…
  • Thanks!!
  • OK. I will do that. I just feel like I'm overeating sometimes when I have that many calories left over. Next week I'm going to bike one way to work, then drive home, drive to work, bike home etc. That way I won't kill myself in this Miami heat and I'll give my body a break.
  • Sometimes I add mustard to about a teaspoon of mayonnaise and mix it with my tuna. I liked the avocado idea that someone mentioned above.
  • Yeah, there are some days when I bike to and from school (20 miles round trip--900 calories or so) and then I figure skate at night or I go to the gym (about 500 calories), so I usually don't eat all of those excess calories because I just am not that hungry. I will try and eat more so that my body has enough protein etc.…
  • Hey there, I rollerblade alot, but for some reason I usually don't wear my heart rate monitor. ANyway, I suggest that you buy one...I love mine! I have one from POLAR. The number of calories you burn depends on your weight and your resting heart rate etc. Everyone is different. I've found that I burn fewer calories than…
  • Yes, very very caliente!! I know, I just wish this process were a little quicker. I've been biking like crazy and eating well. I never have any negative calories and I usually am left with 550 or so at the end of the day. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens...very cute kiddo...
  • Hi, I've been biking to and from work and while it's really hot here lately, I've been burning about 900 calories each day. If I ride one way I burn half and then I go to the gym or something. I'm trying to work on eating better, but it's hard when there are so many yummy things to eat. I'm not seeing the weight come off…
  • Hello everyone! I'm introducing myself. Currently exercising and eating really well so I feel Iike I'm on the right path. However, it's been two weeks and I don't see any change in my weight, just in muscle tone and how my clothes fit. Patiently waiting...
  • Beware of the mayonnaise in the tuna from Subway. Although tuna is usually a great choice, I'd avoid the Subway tuna because you have no idea how much mayo they slap into their tuna. If anything, make some tuna at home. That way you know exactly how much mayo you're consuming. Good luck!!
