  • When I started exercising my heart rate was around 80 and when I walked on the treadmill 3-4 MPH it would get it to 150 and I was working hard at it, so I would back off on the rate of speed or incline to keep it near 150. A year later after exercising everyday and building up my endurance, my resting heart rate is 45-50…

  • No-fat cheese, lean meats, nuts--walnuts or almonds, but not too many, PB2 powder
  • I started my weight loss on the SB diet. Actually my doc recomended it as it fits well with a gluten allergy until you have to add back in whole grains. I ended up going to a nutritionist who tweaked the diet for me. You can check out my diary. After 2 years and 185 lbs lost I am quite pleased, however, the diet requires a…
  • I try to eat 100g of protein ,100 g carbs and 50 g fat in a1200-1500 cal diet. A nutritionist recomended this for me about a year ago based on my height, weight, activity level, and goals. • the only rice I eat is a rice cake with PB almost everyday. I avoid it otherwise because of too many cals and carbs and not enough benefits.
  • I run 6-7 miles a day. Running burns calories, but if you eat more because you are burning more calories and are hungrier, then you could just be breaking even or even gain wt..Running does help improve your heart muscle and get you fit. Also your leg muscles will improve, look better, and you will feel better.

  • I was so happy to read your post and what great advice for a newbie. I also started at over 300 lbs and decided to start running. I started walking at first (until I was under 200lbs) and then began a similiar C25K program in Jan of this year. I went to a running store and also ended up with a pair of Asics specifically…
  • When I was in my 20's I lost about 70 lbs and ll the loose skin went back. Unfortunately I am now 56 with 180 lb loss and I don't think this will be the case. My doctor said to give it a full year after my goal loss to see the total effects. I did aerobics (Jane Fonda style LOL) back then and now I run and work out in the…

  • when I do my treadmill workouts I have noticed that each mile (USA) is equal to about 100-120 cals and only small differences for extra speed, intensity, and your weight. The incline a little more difference. I was disappointed about this as it seems it takes alot more to go faster LOL. At any rate, these are estimates and…
