  • Yes. I lost all of my weight on 1200-1300 cals. I did not eat back exercise calories. The only thing I did vary was the amount of exercise. At first all I could manage was 15 min walking on the treadmill 4 days a week. I increased it gradually over the past 2 years (it took me 19 months to lose 180 lbs) and today I RUN 6+…
  • I use the word journey all the time, so I guess I must sound annoying to you. For me,however, it is a journey of discovery about myself, who I am becoming, and changes along the way. I don't expect it to end because I am rewarded with new experiences, new goals and a healthier life. I am moving forward.
  • great job! My doc said same thing when I turned 54. Here I am 2 years later 185 lbs gone, off meds for BP , and fitter than i have been my whole life. You can do it and you will be so much happier for it.
  • walnuts are my go to food for those kind of days
  • Plan looks good except for "sandwich meats", just too much sodium, fat, and additives. Need to count the calories tho, even too much of healthy foods can put on the weight. As far as exercise Zumba is fun and a total of an hour of exercise a day is recomended to maitain a heathy lifestyle. Good luck to you!
  • I buy oikos or chobani, whichever is on sale, but always with fruit. I look at calorie content and some flavors have more than others, I stick to strawberry, blueberry,or pomegranite, not too much for vanila or plain unless I add my own fruit. I eat the greek specifically for the protein content. It is worth the extra…
  • The doctor told me he was upping my blood pressure meds and I was going to start diabetic meds. I cried when I left his office and vowed that it was the end and I had to stand in the truth of where I was headed.
  • We are getting prepared. Been thru this before and have a generator ready to go, adequate water , food, etc. We live in a rural area and lose electric for several days in a row a few times a year. We also have been thru a tornado that took a few of our neighbors homes (just like the Whiz of Oz). Praying that all stay safe!
  • I weigh everyday, but to each his own. I understand in detail my body fluctuations over the course of a day or week . Once I went on vacation and gained 12 lbs in one week.Shock went thru me, I was so disgusted with myself. So for me everyday is a good thing. I recently saw a program on individuals that lost over 100 lbs…
  • I use Olay total effects (mid priced) and Estee Lauder(pricey) as my budget allows.
  • I count each and every calorie, I weigh and measure. What would be the point of counting any calories if you selectively choose which ones to count or not. It seems to me like a form of lying to yourself. For what purpose? Stand in the truth!
  • I still have problems with this and we have to discipline to change our direction in some way....Make yourself realize whats happening and STOP . Go for a walk, clean something, call someone, or my fav go shopping for clothes.
  • I am 56 and lost my weight over the past 2 years and have maintained for the past 4 months. Diet, exercise, strength from God = success
  • Bleh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate it
  • I have had a gluten allergy for several years . For purse snacks Nature Valley has an almond or peanut crunch bar that is gluten free that says so on the label. My fav snack is natural peanut butter on a rice cake or the Weight watcher's FF cheese stick. Some brands of cheesesticks I have a reaction towards. I tend to…
  • I started slow on a treadmill for 15-20 minutes 4 days a week. Almost 2 years have gone by and now I run 6-7 miles for at least an hour or more AND I do water exercises in the pool for an hour 6 days a week. I then treat myself to the hot tub for 20 min and then shower. All this takes about 3 hours everyday 8AM to 11AM…
  • nothing fried or breaded. It turns me off now just seeing the fat. Love my sweets tho !!!
  • 1. Mothers oats . In a bowl combine 1/3 cup oats and 2/3 cup water. Microwave 90 sec, add walnuts for protein. 2. Greek yogurt 3. Hard boiled eggs
  • I am definately a curvy girl.(5'3" I now wear size 8 jeans and a med top 34 DD). At this point I thoroughly enjoy shopping for clothes. Some styles look ridiculous on me and I avoid them (umpire waist LOL), but I now can find pretty much anything I want in the misses section or petites, bras are still a problem, but I deal…
  • My son told me, "all dad really wants is for you to be happy and us to be happy as a family". I guess that explains 27 years and no end in sight!
  • I weigh every morning and it keeps me on goal. I don't get depressed over a pond or two difference, but once I was on vacation and waited a week to weigh. I gained 12 lbs. Now thaT WAS DEPRESSING. If I gain more than 5 lbs I add some extra exercise and curb calories a few days until I'm back to maintenance weight.
  • I had to cut wheat from my diet because of allergy, but that isn't what started my weight loss. There are plenty of unhealthy things out there as wheat substitutes (salted potato chips for example) . Just cutting wheat is not necessarily healthy. No substitute for good nutrition, counting cals and exercise.
  • 1. carmel rice cake and natural PB 2. eggwhite and vegies 3. protein bar
  • Congrats on your loss. Be proud of yourself and don't give up. I was the last person who would have believed that this is possible. You are awesome for starting on tjhis journey and I know you have within in you courage to continue and see it thru.
  • I used to weigh several times a day, with clothes , without, morning , night, etc. Most of this was out of curiosity. I now weigh in the morning once a day and it keeps me honest. If I weigh less often, I tend to "let it go" and eat too much. Currently I am trying to maintain and I don't like to gain more than 5-7 lbs and…
  • To lose my weight I consistently ate 1200 calories and didn't eat back my exercise calories. I lost 10 lbs a month for 18 months. I occassionally had a stall for 5-7 days, but it never lasted more than that. The mo.re i lost , the more I increased my exercise. This obviously would not work for everyone. I am now on…
  • 17 months ago I started walking at 2.8 for 15 min (it was all I could manage back then ) I slowly increased time, duration, and then incline, day by day week by week. I started running 9 months ago. Today I run 6-7 miles nonstop averaging 6 MPH. Fastest was 7.2 for short bursts and walk @ 4.0 as a cool down for 5 min. After…
  • I am familiar with the 12 steps. I do use a "higher power" because it is the only way I have become successful at weight loss. For me I think of overeating as a sin. I pray the Lords prayer"give us this day our daily bread" and I add "and no more". Mentally by keeping track of my calories I know I have had enough to eat…
  • The weight comes off slower as you get to your goal. It's hard to accept when "you're almost there", but i have discovered it comes off if you just keep at it and be patient. Remember to accept this as a new way of eating and maintenance is a continuing effort. By the way I am 5'3" and my doc has set 140 lbs as a low limit…
