  • I have just reached 3 months at maintenance. It is not easy and I am a lsoookingfor those who have lost a large amount and what they are doing to keep it off. Right now I can gain 5 or 10 lbs back in a week and then fight like crazy to work it off again. Its like a mini yo-yo.
  • Greek yogurt and protein bar---no prep. Salad ,but requires prep time, I make the day before and keep dressing seperate in a little condiment cup I don't eat fruit, but it is a good option with some sort of protein like cottage cheese
  • I don't think it is jealousy as much as it is guilt for not getting fit himself. My hubby used to feel sorry for me when I worked out, sweated and tried so hard. He thought I needed a "reward" of donuts every week. I would end up in a viciuos cycle until I broke the habit. He realized I was serious. After he saw my…
  • Chobani 6 oz. first then Oikus 5.3 oz. . I only eat the 140 calorie flavors.(straw, pom, blue, etc). I get them when on sale. I recently called Chobani and they told me I can freeze them and rethaw slowly in frig and it doesn't destroy the active cultures. I believe this is true as I used to work in a lab with live cultures…
  • Showers are "in" unless you have a big bathroom and do both. I think it depends if you plan on living there for a while because of resale value. I wouild do the shower if thats what you use and like and planned on staying there. You want your house for you, not for a potential buyer unless you think you may want to sell in…
  • I give it a little extra exercise and maybe 100 less cals a few days to compensate. These things come up and you don't have to go crazy worrying about it. The sooner you get back on track the easier it is. Don't give up on the whole day if you overdo at lunch
  • After my morning work out (1+ hour running on treadmill and 1 hour water aerobics 900-1000cals) I have such a high, endorphins I'm guessing, that I don't feel like eating right away, but give me an hour and I want/need my food to keep me fueled!
  • I pretty much eat the same for snacks, also add nuts or protein bars if I can fit them in calories wise. For lunch it is always salad for me,but if I'm in need of a change I will do oatmeal and nuts, homemade soups, or a white egg omelette. If I am out and about I also flip flop my snack and lunch times ie. snack at noon…
  • I went to the doctor and was on BP meds and was told I was to start on diabetes meds unless I lost weight in the next 3 months. What really clicked for me to be successful was the fact that I was doing a bible study at the time and it was the first time that I used my faith for strength and support.
  • To lose my weight I ate a 1200-1300 calorie diet. Not for everyone, but my goal was to do it as quickly and safely as possible.I lost about 20 lbs the first month and 10 lbs a month thereafter. I didn't start exercising until I had lost 40-50 lbs.I worked my way up to 2 hours of exercise a day. I now am at my goal wt and…
  • When I first started my diet, my doctor recommended the South Beach diet mostly because I had high BP, on the verge of diabetes and a gluten allegy. This diet fit well for me and since then, I have consulted a nutritionist that tweaked that diet specifically for me. Some diets fit better with different lifestyles, but you…

  • I REALLY have a gluten allergy and it always bugs me when people try to sneak foods to me to see if it will affect me. Then I suffer . Most are understanding tho. I know of some who want to have the latest disease or affliction to gain attention. I can no longer tolerate some of my favorite foods:sad: The substitutes just…
  • I log on MFP and have kept a food diary for over 20 months now. For me it works and I am planning on continuing it for the rest of my life. I read several articles on losing weight statistics. At least 95% of those who lose large amounts gain it back. Most of those who do not gain it back keep food diaries. I am determined…
  • Congrats on your success and Onederland!!! In Jan of this year I started my under 200 lb part of my journey. I began a modified C25K program. Slowly and surely I started a slow jog for 30 seconds every 5minutes, gradually adding time, distance and speed. To the disbelief of myself and those around me I now RUN 5-7 miles…
  • I eat smuckers natual PB almost everyday. I weigh it out on a rice cake only 16 grams (1TBS) 100 cals plus 50 cals of caramel rice cake.I have heard of PB2 but haven't seen it anywhwere. I don't know if it has any additives.
  • I lost all of my weight exercising slowly at first (15 min a day) and worked my way up to 2hours a day. I ate 1200-1300 calories and did not eat back my calories from exercise. I have upped my calories a bit since reacing goal wt. This worked for me ,but it is not for everyone. C25K (Couch potato to running a 5K) I tried a…
  • 1. Protein (sometimes you just have to fight the feeling and wait to get the full feeling, provided you are eating enough calories to begin with) 2. Sorry, I usually don't do weights or just use 2lb ones for the arms 3. Look into a C25K program (Couch Potato to a 5K) . I started running in Jan and now run 5-7 miles a day.…
  • I weigh out my nuts or peanut butter everytime or I would eat 2000 cals worth at a sitting. I make sure that when I buy a bag of nuts(16 oz) it lasts for 14 days minimum and if I go thru them too fast I don't buy another bag until 2 weeks. A few times I went on binges and ate a half a bag in a sitting. I have found that if…
  • I asked my doctor this question about weight and body type. His goal for me is 150 and no lower than 140lbs considering the girls and my age plus sagging skin from lage amount of weight loss (I am 5'3" and 55 yrs old). I shoved myself into a 50DDD at my heaviest. I am now down to a 34-36 DDD (finding it difficult to get a…
  • My food scale is front and center for everything. I have even taken it on vacation. I weigh everything. You would be surprised to se a tablespoon worth versus weighing the grams. You can easily overestimate by double. Of course I used to work in a laboratory and weighing things on a scale in grams is second nature to me.
  • I run for over an hour and see how many calories I can burn. I see how fast I can do a 5K then slow down a bit for 10K. Now I am trying to talk myself into 13.1K. After running, I go into the pool and do an hour of arm. leg , and toning exercise, then its the hot tub for a 20 min rest. You have to figure out what you can do…
  • Yuk, no hairy fruit skin for me. My hubby even wants the skin of a peach de-fuzzed or peeled.
  • Cutting out sugar is possible if that's what you want. I was forced into it because I was on the verge of diabetes. Of course it was difficult at first. I did the South Beach diet for 2 weeks and then went off of it and went to a nutritionist for help with meal planning. My nutritionist guidelines were to never exceed more…
  • Miller 64. I love the commercials!!!!!!!!
  • I use a Weight Watchers digital and although it varies a little more than my old one which was a Taylor digital (bit the dust when I spilled Lysol on it) . It is usually the same within 0.2 lb. It does have a little quirk that I deal with in that it seems to retain the old weight and if I want to be super accurate I weigh…
  • I stick to the low carb fruits (berries) and veggies, but I was diabetic and don't ever want to go near that again. Once in a while for an ear of corn or other high carbs. Everything in moderation.
  • I also had a BP drop with weight loss (after 50-60 lbs loss) and my glucose dropped dramatically with low carb in 2 weeks (140 down to 90 and now it is in th low 80s).I'm not a doc, but haven't heard low BP relating to low carb unless accompaniedby weight loss.
  • I weigh every morning at 7:30 AM. It keeps me on track and I always keeps in mind if I ate something salty or tolerate a normal fluctuation. Once I went on vacation and gained 12 lbs in 6 days. I had no idea it was happening and would have curbed the extra treats had i known. Others feel more comfortable weighing once a…
