I just got chastised about that last night by my hubby. It's a control thing for me. Everyone here has the best advice. Weighing once a week is the best. I have an almost predictable gain of several pounds throughout the week, peeking on the weekend but by my weigh in day I am usually down again and that is when any weight…

I agree. Try it again. It's good to mix it up and rewarding yourself with exercise that's fun for you seems like a really good tool for overall health. Mental and physical. You also use muscles while walking that you don't use for other activities. Ones that lift mood as well as burn calories.

I hear ya! Now get back to it. You're doing great!

I smoked for twenty one years before finally giving it up for good six months ago. I had tried and relapsed for over five years. My advice is to learn as much about addiction and recovery as you can and plan a quit strategy. Mine included strategies for not overeating (protein water and fructose for when I felt shlumpy),…

I started with under twenty to lose and lost four pretty quickly. The rest is taking FOREVER. I asked my doctor what the hold up was and he said, keep up all the healthy choices and work out and the weight WILL eventually come off. Bleh! But, yeah. it's my experience that the last ten (or so) is pretty slow going.

Sad but true. I've noticed this as well. Congrats on your growing awareness and the ability to take action and make positive changes. Step it up!

I agree with everyone that perhaps you are too calorie restricted. My doctor told me to up mine from 1300 to eighteen since I am within ten pounds of my goal weight. He said working out and making long term healthy choices is what will shave those last ten pounds off and he said not to worry about the numbers so much as…

Yep. been there done that. You should probably lay it on the table for your doctor and let him/her get you some guidance. OA is a great program. Private behavioral therapy works wonders. Even certain antidepressants can get the purging under control so you can work on eating healthy foods and portion sizes. PLEASE seek…

Log it. Forgive yourself the slip up, but face it. It's a fact we all have bad days but I think it's important to face them head on. Place it in it's proper perspective though too. Nothing bad is going to happen in the world because you ate some junk food one day. It's really o.k. I had to give myself this same pep talk on…

I have had this same problem too. It will come off. Keep doing what you are doing, You are living right and that will show in fitness in the end! I agree though that everyone should have an off day from working out to let the body mend. Try doing restorative yoga and walking to smell the flowers on that day instead of…

I think if you eat mostly dairy and fruits and veggies and some lean protein, the overage probably isn't going to do you in, It might make you lose a little slower though. It's great that you don't overdo on things like pasta and bread, but maybe you could try cutting out one or two carb snacks a day and replacing them…

Keep making those healthy choices! FIT FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read the entire thread too and your comment seemed really mild to me. Don't over edit yourself. I have found there are people who will take offense to anything. Can't please everyone.

It may take time to develop new habits. I had a thing for unhealthy carbs too and I just worked really hard on one unhealthy item at a time. Now, I am in control of it. A healthy diet includes good carbs but you don't have to eat ALL good carbs to be healthy. Cutting out bread and pasta is fine. Just be patient with…

Raw food buffet and olive bar. Yum.

They ARE good carbs and you need them to be fit and healthy. Eat your fruit. Stay away from carbs that have no nutritional value and you will still lose inches and weight and probably lose cancer cells as well. Eat your veggies and some lean protein while you're at it.

Thanks everyone. I am thinking of making this the beverage when I eat my "cheat" meal once a week. I can have my cake and eat it too. Just sparingly. I really do not like the idea that this raises insulin levels in the blood. Diabetes runs in my fam and I have to be checked twice yearly as it is. I want to do everything in…

Take care of your whole self the best you can. Make gentle changes so your heart can catch up in it's own time. Things will get better! Slow walking is good too. Gives you a chance to stop and smell the flowers! Literally. Love to you!

woo woo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go on girl!
-
oops it squished it all together but you get the idea! Keep up the good work.

Aim to stay within the calorie range MFP gave you and the 1200 one. It's good for your body to fluctuate a little so it will not get used to performing at one intake level. If you are hungry often, try eating a light snack between meals (about two hours after one and two before the next). I only eat from these food options…

That's awesome. Post more as you get them. I love that!

Crazy! The first time I did it, my "praying" hands were all wobbly. I LOVE exercises I can do anywhere because I have three extra long shifts a week at work and can do them to kill time during down time!
-
Nice. It's true. If i didn't log in for a week I would be up serious poundage. Good work staying on track even without the daily log ins.

It's possible to lose with a vegetarian diet. Find a professional in your area who specializes in vegetarian diet or even vegan and they can tell you how to refine your diet. I was a vegetarian for years and all the info out their can do more harm then good. Find good guidance and you will be all set. If going meatless is…

Wow, I needed to hear that too. Your positive attitude is inspiring. I gained this week and am also pretty sure it is water retention from vigorous workouts but was feeling pretty blue about it! I needed the reminder of why I am doing this at all. It isn't about skinny. It's about living a healthy, happy, balanced life.…

Yes! Thanks for this post. I needed a morale boost. I seem to be starting at a plateau. Getting under the one fifty mark is taking FOREVER. And that's still fifteen away from my target weight. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! This makes me want to keep working hard.
-
The important thing is to keep creating healthy targets and then aiming for them as often as possible. Your heart and lungs and brain thank you for all your hard work and eventually the belly will go too!

Yay! Congrats for finding your way here. Click on me and add me if you would like to be friends. Most of my friends are just MFP friends who encourage me and keep me motivated by sharing their stories. Happy fitness getting.

Dangerous! I agree. She needs a second opinion, a new doctor and probably a nutrition specialist of some kind. Whatever is appropriate for her area.
