LOL. Maybe you can discreetly time yourself, and then figure out something comparable? I've wondered about this too, and have also considered taking my HRM to the bedroom! But I think the benefits are in more than just the calorie burn!

This is fantastic! I'm inspired to write my own letter to my fit self. Thanks for posting, and congrats on your successes so far!

I have that problem a lot, but not all the time. Every once in awhile it works. Go figure. :) Good luck with yours though, wish I could offer something more helpful!

I'd definitely recommend tracking your exercise somehow, even if it's just putting similar things into MFP. Eating your exercise calories is really important for an exercise plan as rigorous as this--your body starts to do weird starvy things otherwise, like NOT progress. I am also totally in love with my HRM, it changed…

I use it on my hair and LOVE it. Smear it on, sleep in a shower cap (on a towel), shampoo and condition in the AM. Although now I want to use it in the bedroom  And maybe even the kitchen, lol.

What great advice! And Warrior Dash is a great goal--it's SO fun :)

I'm a big fan of Tony Horton (of P90X fame). He's adorable and motivating, a big geek about fitness. The P90X set is pretty expensive (even if you get it on ebay), but if you're addicted... he might be worth your while! :) I love Jillian Michaels too!

I DEFINITELY recommend a HRM if you're going to seriously commit to either of these programs--as soon as I got one it really helped. The HRM readings tended to be very different from what MFP estimated. Without one, though, most of the P90X dvds I would think would be circuit training, maybe? The yoga is yoga, obviously.…

I create my own exercise for it. But I also usually wear a heart rate monitor, so I know the calories burned a little more accurately than MFP would estimate. LOVE 30 Day Shred!

I love her cardio kickboxing DVD. It's not a program, like 30DS (which I also love), although technically I think it's part of her biggest loser series. Or biggest winner? I love Jillian, though--I throw the kickboxing DVD in every so often just for fun :)

I track the whole time, because warming up and cooling down are still burning more than when I'm at rest.

I spray some cooking spray and pan fry one side for 3 minutes, then flip them and sprinkle on a mixture of fresh grated parmesan and dried basil (1/4 cup parmesan and 2 tbsp basil gets me through 4 filets). Then I stick the whole pan in the oven to broil for 3-4 minutes. It makes the cheese just a little crispy...…

The group I rely on in has people from all over the program. I'm on Day 60, someone else is in the first week. Don't be shy! A few of us did start together, but others have joined us along the way, and we all support one another! If you find a group that's snobby about you just beginning... find a different one  In…

Hey folks, haven't stopped by in awhile! Kissyfurr, I have a sewing machine on my dining room table too :) Jan--totally jealous of your Disney trip! I bought an annual pass to Disneyland when I went for my birthday last month, but I need to find more Disney dates! My boyfriend can only handle about one trip a year…

I would certainly say I've lost fat! But no weight. :)

P90X isn't a weight loss program, so the calories they recommend ARE super high. If you log on to the Beachbody website and fill out your info, it'll ask you if you are trying to lose or maintain and make a different suggestion than in the nutrition booklet. For example, I fell into the 2400 range according to the book,…

Great job, Magg! It's been a heckuva long time since I've seen the scale budge, too. I'm gonna go ahead and still blame P90X (I am on day 50! I'm already so proud of myself!) I have another week to go before I take my 2/3 of the way progress pics. It's hard to see progress in the mirror since I see myself every day, but…

Hi kissyfurr. Great goals! Ann, if you're interested, go to www.nianow.com and you can plug in your zip code and see if there are any classes in your area.
-
Hey! long time no check in, for me. How's everyone? I just took a NIA class with my mom, anyone heard of it? I LOVED it! It's like bellydancing meets rave meets yoga. What a lovely and healthy way to start the year! Happy new year!

pretty amazing stuff. thanks for sharing :)

I'm pretty sure that is NOT true, although we certainly want to. What IS true, though, is if you really skimp a for a few days beforehand (I'm talking zero fat), you will delay your period for a little bit. The body flips out a little and holds on to those nutrients, or something. Of course, this is probably only true for…

I love Jillian Michaels. 30 Day Shred is awesome (it's cardio and strength combined into 20 minute workouts, but they are KILLER and high calorie burning), and I also love her cardio kickbox dvd (part of her The Biggest Winner series).

Awesome :)

Oy, DEFINITELY stay away from Lara, then. It's almost entirely nuts, I don't think any of them are nut free. :(
-
I'm a big fan of Lara bars. I get excited looking at the ingredients lists, which look like: cashews, dates. The end. (I think that one's the cashew cookie flavor). They are all real ingredients, with recognizable and pronounceable names. And all gluten free, which my tummy likes.

Hey everyone! I made it to Albuquerque, I ended up flying. My very generous (and financially comfy) boyfriend offered to help me out with some of the plane fare, as did my father, so I was able to get to my New Mexican family fairly stress free. I'm really glad I went, it was definitely important for me to be there, both…

Hey X-rs :) I'm back in LA. It was really important for me to be in ABQ with that side of my family, and I flew back late Wednesday night to spend thanksgiving with my LA family (including my little brother, who's usually on tour with a band and HAPPENED to be in LA yesterday instead of a random motel in Rhode Island…

Hey guys. Checking in from Albuquerque. I managed to get Yoga X in yesterday before I left for the airport, although I did fastforward some of the explain-y parts to try to save some time so I could do extra packing. I managed to do Core Synergistics today... in an art studio, on a laptop with shoddy sound, where everytime…

Mmmm. Just did X Stretch and now I feel all gooey. I don't know why I didn't do it last week on rest day. To be honest, I'm very flexible, so it's a little boring for me for some of it, but it's definitely nice to have an hour of breathing and movements that don't require a lot of strength. I found out I'll be able to use…

Hey group. I had a sad week, I lost my grandfather on Thursday. I know he was ready to go, he had been struggling for awhile and we've been expecting it for a long time now, but it's still, of course, a shock. He was in Albuquerque (I'm in LA), and they're kind of hippies over there and are not doing a traditional funeral,…
